Great sashimi and fresh fish. Sit down and takeout available. I would definitley tell my family a bout this place. Platters look good, enjoyed sashimi with salad, both delicious and healthy. Dressing was ono and I bought a bottle, yummy! They serve tempura udon and beef curry, will try that next time. The place is clean and lots of parking during non peak hour. Planning to come again real soon.

The BEST and FRESHEST sashimi I had on the island hands down. I was so happy to have my platter of sashimi on top of fresh lettuce(12 pieces, six each of silky salmon and bright red ahi) with their house dressing(creamy, hint of sesame). I wish it wasn’t the last day I was in town or I would have gone back again and again! My husband had their unagi bowl, the eel tasted fresh and had just the right amount of sauce. Yum! A little out of the way if you’re staying in Waikiki, but so worth it.

Super fresh sashimi and salads. They also have brown rice. Great place for a quick healthy meal. The food comes out very quickly. They have about 6 – 7 people working in the kitchen during peak hours. You order at the counter then they call # to pick up your food. There are about 12 tables in the place. It gets a bit busy during lunch time but people move in and out fairly quickly. Lots of parking in front.

I’ve been here over 5 times. Ordered both take-out/dine in individual serving as well as pre-ordered platters. The fish always tastes good. The platters are ready by the pick up time. My favorite is getting the B7(I think), where you get 1 scoop poke, 1 scoop spicy ahi, and 1 scoop salmon. They always let me substitute a second scoop of poke for the salmon; I appreciate the flexibility. There is a parking lot that can sometimes be crowded, but I have always found a spot eventually. Not cheap, but you pay for good quality fish and decent serving sizes.

Flavors of Hawaii. Grind on Japanese style foods. Fresh ahi sashimi on green salad. Home style dressing. Wasabi and shoyu. Ono. Shrimp tempura udon appeal in presentation. And den, beef curry on brown rice. Mom ate it all! Definitely have to come back for more.

Great service, fresh fish, and tasty sushi. The restaurant is nice and clean. Their sashimi platters are fresh and of decent quality for the price.

We were so glad to find out that this Ahi & Vegetable location was open on New Year’s Day. I made an order a few days prior, for the sashimi platter(C10) to pick up on 1÷1÷16 after lunch. For just $ 60 you get about 25 pieces of ahi, 15 pieces of salmon, and 15 pieces of hamachi sashimi… and it looks and tastes as fresh you’d want it to be, alongside the rest of your fabulous New Year’s meal. It was my first time at this location, but definitely not the last. Located in the corner behind Zippy’s Dillingham, I didn’t expect the space to be so large. Probably about 10 tables to dine-in, and not as close together as the Ft street location. They’re open 7 days a week, with lots of ample parking. Will definitely be back soon!

Cyndy’s Bottom Line: A great place to stop in for ahi! Love the variety of fish! Love the bento selection! I brought my nephew who loves spicy ahi here and he enjoyed it! he thought that it is one of the best places for spicy ahi! He order the sushi rice and the spicy ahi! He thought it was superb and ono! Next I stopped in with my Mom and she really enjoyed every single ahi bite!!! Who is next… Stopped in with the hubby and he ordered the sashimi set and thoroughly enjoyed it! Who’s next…

If you love fresh poke bowls, this is the place to go. I ordered a spicy ahi bowl & it was delicious! One of the better poke bowl places that I’ve ate at. They also gave us soybeans that we’re very well-seasoned. The wait isn’t long & definitely worth the money! Highly recommend!

I can finally wipe this one of the Bookmark List. Darcie had a dentist appointment so we went right after. I was thinking the $ 12 average cost was expensive, but the product proved worth it. It’d about the same as a few other poke bowls and nothing to get all crazy about. I ordered Bento 8. It came with miso soup and I chose sushi rice. It came with yummy chicken, Sake and Ahi Sashimi. The ahi was really good and the salmon was ok. I was curious as to how good the hamachi was so I ordered that. They gave me 3 slices for $ 6. Darcie ordered Bento 8. It can with chicken, beef and unagi. She said the unagi was sweet. We liked the homemade dressing so I bought a $ 10 bottle. It’s like a sesame wasabi.

I think it’s a little on the pricier side, but still yummy! The fish here is incredibly fresh and delicious. I thought it was a small plate, but I was so full by the time I finished it! It was our first time here and we were overwhelmed with the options on the menu. There were so many! We took about 5 minutes to scan through the menu options on the wall. Food came out fast! There are a good number of tables inside for dining. Located in a plaza so there can be little available parking spaces if it’s a busy time. My boyfriend and I got different things. I ordered a set with spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and ahi poke over rice. It was delish! Meal also came with a small bowl of miso soup(white miso paste). RICE: You can pick! White, brown, or sushi.

Ahi & Vegetable first started«taunting» me when photos of their sashimi salads, sets, poke bowls and bentos starting filling my feed beckoning to me like the pastries in Alice in Wonderland«eat me…» I first stopped in here one night to order takeout for dinner. Not knowing how hungry my husband was I ended up ordering far more than what two people could eat. Because of my excessive ordering, we were able to sample their spicy ahi, sashimi and their shrimp maki. My husband wasn’t a fan of the consistency of the spicy ahi due to the fact that its ground into smaller pieces, but I liked it and found the flavors to be on point and tasted very fresh. The temperature was also perfect, something I’ve recently started noticing about poke and sashimi. We both enjoyed their sashimi and were in awe of the quality of the selections especially since the prices were beyond reasonable. The shrimp roll was our least favorite, but in actuality I ordered it as a filler in case we were still hungry so no harm no foul. Their miso soup was pretty good too . I’ve stopped in a few times recently for their sashimi salad which is my current favorite with mild dressing. The cuts of fish are extremely generous and for $ 12 you can’t really beat the price for fresh ahi and salmon over a crisp bed of greens. This lunch is tasty and healthy and fills you up with none of the guilt that eating out so often gives you. The staff is always friendly and helpful and when I first started coming by would always help me navigate my way through the menu. If you’re in the area and looking for something fresh, healthy and delicious, this is the place to eat.

If you live for sashimi and live in kalihi, this is the place to go! If you’re craving donburi for lunch, they have it all. My favourite thing to order is their $ 12 sashimi plate, which includes salmon, tuna, and salad. For $ 3 more, the sashimi plate will come with hamachi! Miso and rice will be an extra $ 1. The price for such fresh and soft sashimi is very competitive, but that’s not the only thing they sell. They have BBQ chicken, natto, hand rolls, nigiri, and a variety of bentos. Their greens are always very fresh, in contrast to salads I’ve tried at other restaurants where some greens brown and dry. Dressings are: house, ranch, spicy, and vinaigrette, which you can just grab from their fridge if you dine in. I was a little shocked once, when I experienced a big poke from a rather large fish bone in my tuna. Service from the cashiers is very friendly and you can be sure your food is fresh because you can see the kitchen from where you’re standing. The people making your food have nothing to hide. There’s ample tables and chair, and the interior is bright and clean. The menus are on the wall, and you just order, wait for your food, and find yourself a seat. Perfect place to go if you’re not in the mood to wait in the Zippy’s line. Ahi & Vegetable is located in Dillingham Plaza, the same centre as Elvin’s Bakery, Zippy’s, Violet’s Grill, etc. I make sure to come here a couple times a month; this establishment is popular for obvious reasons! & yes, get the sushi rice rather than regular or brown.

We had just finished running some errands near Costco Iwilei when we stopped into Kapalama’s Ahi & Vegetable. Even though it was our first time of being here, I felt a certain sense of familiarity since reading numerous positive reviews from fellow Unilocalers. This place is clean and bright with posters showing the fishermen origins of this shop and the owner pictured with Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods host, Chef Andrew Zimmern. There is plenty of seating and as you walk up to the order counter, you will see the huge menu boards. Because there are so varieties of poke bowls, bentos and salads being offered, it may take you a few minutes. As we stepped up to counter to place our order, the ladies behind the counter all cheerfully welcomed us. Our excitement to dine here was furthered by the discovery that they do not add MSG(monosodium glutamate) in their seafood creations and we’d have a choice between steamed sireWe were only planning on ordering a couple of poke bowls when we noticed that for just a dollar more, we could get a bowl of steaming hot miso soup as a set. THEFOOD: — Spicy Ahi poke bowl with white rice & miso soup SET: The miso soup was steaming hot and very comforting as the the day was gloomy and rainy. There was a big scoop of spicy ahi poke atop the warm steamed white rice(could’ve ordered brown rice) with cooked vegetable and a big pinch of gari. The poke wasn’t as spicy as I’d like but, nonetheless, it was certainly tasty, filling and nicely presented. The pieces of ahi were cut into smaller cubes than at other establishments and you could still tell that the fish was fresh by its texture. — Ahi poke bowl with brown rice & miso soup SET: The fresh-cut ahi cubes were larger than the spicy ahi poke. Again, the fish was fresh tasting and there was a light soy sauce-sesame seed marinade. Cooked vegetable and gari were served in the bowl and made a nice presentation. Both of our poke bowls were filling and comforting. We even felt healthier for eating fish rather than eating animal protein. Oh, we’re not turning our backs from our usual omnivore appetites. Ahi & Vegetable meals would make great takeout for picnicking or even airline meal replacements. We enjoyed our meals and would certainly make return visits when we’re in the area. #470

I would never have ventured here if I didn’t take a day off from work and hung out with my father(more like his personal chauffer but that is a different story). My dad wanted to go eat lunch somewhere and suggested this place due close proximity to downtown(driving distance at least — I wouldn’t walk here from the Downtown area) because we wanted to be close by to pick my mom up from work. Anyways, the place is clean and the employees are friendly. As soon as you enter is where the all the tables are. Go to the back to order your food and pick it up. There are two prices for each item due to whether you want the set or not. Depending on what you order the set comes with miso soup or salad and and rice(if you are not ordering something that already comes with rice). I had a spicy ahi bowl(sans the set). This comes with miso soup. It’s your standard spicy ahi bowl, nothing spectacular. My dad ordered the sashimi platter set, which came with miso soup and rice. It was a lot of food. I would definitely come back.

Thanks to Unilocal,I found this little gem off Dillingham Blvd in the same shopping plaza as Zippys and Wingstop, next to Elvins Bakery. The parking lot isn’t very big, considering it’s sharing it with some other businesses. But we came on a Thursday and Sunday evening, and found parking easily. Ahi & Vegetables has a good amount of tables for those dining in and is very spacious. A good portion of their customers are take-out orders, so we’ve never had a problem of finding a spot to sit and dine in. Not to mention, their restaurant is super clean. Even if someone is just sitting at a table, waiting for their take-out order. Once they get their food and leave the restaurant, the lady was quick to wipe down the table before anyone had a chance to sit on it. It was really cute to watch the lady work so hard to keep the cleanliness of the restaurant. Their prices are reasonable and omg, their fish is so fresh, it tastes like butter! Their Sashimi Plate($ 12) was delicious and the fish just melts in your mouth. For $ 12, their bento items are very generous portioning and I underestimated the size as I couldn’t finish it. Even on our second visit, I decided to order a spicy ahi bowl($ 9) thinking if I ordered it with a set(salad and miso soup; additional $ 1 charge), I could finish it. But once again, I found myself struggling to finish all my food lol. At least you know you’ll get your moneys worth! Their bowls and bentos have a choice of rice: sushi rice, white rice or brown rice. And for their salad, they have a house dressing that tastes like sesame dressing I think? Well, whatever it is, it’s really tasty! The spicy ahi has a little kick to it, but the spicy level is tolerable… especially for someone like me who cries when I eat spicy food lol. Everyone that works here are very friendly and the service is always quick. We’ve only been here twice, but I feel like we already found our new poke spot. Affordable prices, clean restaurant, ample parking, delicious food, great customer service, quick service… what else could you ask for? Can’t wait to go back and try more things on their menu!

I am glad the fish is fresh, I was so excited for the spicy ahi poke and it wasn’t as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong the fish is fresh and you can tell, but it wasn’t anything that was memorable.

Yup! Ahi & Vegetable in Kalihi. This review is a couple months overdue but here goes: Parking easy but under construction so be patient; located in the Dillingham Plaza. Location is a couple miles outside of the downtown area; but I think the drive, parking and eating experience may equal to or top the same experience in downtown Honolulu The food clean tasting and the QUALITY is top notch and fresh. The service is okay; expedient, accurate with customer service second to QUALITY and speed Price — excellent for the QUALITY and amount of food served They have meals for one up to large party platters.

Ahi & Veg has a second location in Kalihi. Same amazing quality as the one on Fort Street Mall without the hassle of parking in downtown. Win! All of their fish is FRESH. I personally like their $ 9 spicy ahi bowl that comes with your choice of white rice, brown rice or sushi rice. The bowl, not the set, includes choy sum, ginger and miso soup. You get a salad with the set. The service is fast. I never wait more than 5 minutes for my order to be ready. The great thing about this place is that they’re open on the weekends! Now I can drive over and get my spicy ahi fix whenever I want!

I am an absolute FAN of Ahi Veg!!! I always order their Ahi Vegetable Salad with the house dressing and a extra scoop of spicy ahi. It cost $ 11 and they ask if you want the miso soup and rice with it but I always decline. The salad and ahi always fill me up. Their house dressing is very flavorful. Service: Quick and accurate. They are very friendly. I keep going back because I have had no problems. Parking: Depends what time of the day you go you may or may not find parking. The small parking lot is shared with many other businesses in that shopping center.
