Did not have a good experience with this company, unprofessional, would not do business again. They try their best to fine you. Look out for extra charges. It may seem like a good deal but you will end up paying more

Great place with an easy rental and return process. I rented a scooter for a week and it was great because I didn’t have to worry about parking and paying at different parking garages. In Waikiki you can just park the scooter at any bike rack on the beach or in the city… Definitely a great experience I will use them again when I go back next year. Staff were also easy to work with and very friendly!

Great rental place! Prices are fair, the rental process and return was a breeze! I definitely recommend this place to others! We rented 3 mopeds for 24 hours and the paid about $ 32 a piece! Great pricing compared to all the other places in Waikiki. Just a tip though, make sure you have a credit card on hand that they can put on file or assurance for any damages, if you try to use debit, the hold is $ 100 versus $ 1 for credit cards. But other than that, riding around on those mopeds was a blast! We had a great experience, thanks again!

Jack was really helpful. He let me know top expect an orientation. Explained the insurance for the mopeds. They include insurance and a helmet in their really affordable rental fees. He told me only 1 rider or it’s a $ 92 ticket. And a credit card and driver’s license for each rider. Also, each driver must be there to get a moped. I wanted to get 2 so my best friend would have hers when her conference ends but drivers must pick up their own moped. Great experience.

Skip this place and go to Cruzin Hawaii instead. This place WILL charge you more than 37 for mopeds. They do not show you how to check the gas and will charge you 8 dollars to top it off. The needle on the bike said full and I figured that was enough, apparently not. Then I asked if could go fill it up. Of course they wouldn’t let me, they wanted more of my money. They claimed «we have places to go and close our doors at 4:45» even though it says they stay opened until 5:30 on Unilocal.As you can tell I would not recommend this to anyone. The people are rude and milk every penny they can out of tourists.

DO NOT RENT HERE. JACK WILL NICKLE AND DIME YOU WHEN YOU RETURN THE MOPEDS. There was a nail in the tire and I marked on the contract that there was dirt all over the tires when we took them out… he is now trying to charge us for the new tire and LABOR for him to put it in. What a disappointment. Go somewhere else if you don’t want to be charged $ 120 for 2 mopeds for half a day.

This place is ok! It’s cheap and yes it was very helpful to have a starters orientation. However Jack is rude and is so rush rush. Talks to you as if you have no common sense. Once we returned the mopeds he asked if we dropped them and asked where the scratches came from. All n all not professional.

Adventure Rentals is a very small hole in the wall that apparently has two businesses running out of the same office.
I rented 3 mopeds and used a 99cents a day coupon from the weekly ad. Turned out to be less than $ 100 for all 3 of us including collision. We had to put a «hold of $ 100 on our credit card» for each moped. They said it would not be taken out of our bank account. I am will wells fargo and it did subtract from my account however 4 business days later it was refunded no problem, no need to call and ask your bank or this place it automatically gets refunded.
The mopeds itself were great, we rode to the north shore and back and had a blast. Mine seemed a little slow but it could be because I weight 250lbs. Going up hill for me was about 30mph MAX where my wife could get up to 45 mph easy as she weighs 120lbs. On a straight away or downhill you can easily exceed 50mph but this is illegal and not worth the ticket or crashing so I wouldn’t recommend.
Returning the mopeds was easy, he test drove it for literally a second, turned it off, looked for any major cracks or scratches and we were on our way in less than 2 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place.
On the down side, the lady in charge (there is one older guy, one younger guy and this woman) she could lighten up a bit, seemed to have an attitude during our whole process but could be just that she was in a hurry.

It wasn’t busy when we rented our two scooters. Jack was straight forward with his warnings. A quick tutorial for my sister by tony and we were off to Hanauma bay. The scooters went around 45 – 50 mph down hill and 25 – 35 uphill, according to the speedometer. I weigh around 200.

Great rental, brand new scooter, hauled my big butt all over the island for 32 $ had a blast! Thanks Jack!

This review is for moped rentals.
During my other trip to Honolulu, I rented from their competitors on Lemon Road. In search of a better price this time around, I ended up at Adventure Rentals. The mopeds here are tad more powerful. I was able to exceed 40 mph on level roadways. Mopeds are allowed on Pali and Likelike highways, so we took the chance. Man was that a harrowing experience. The minimum speed limit on these highways is 40 mph, which we couldn’t reach on slight inclines… in fact, I could barely reach 35 mph. I definitely would not recommend these mopeds on those highways.
My first moped’s rear signal lights did not work… I didn’t notice it until just before they closed, so I had to exchange it the following morning. My girlfriend’s moped’s mirrors were loose, and required constant readjusting.
The pricing was very competitive but they do nickel and dime you. My girlfriend’s moped was due at 10:30 AM, mine at 1:30 PM (rented at different times). Due to some Honolulu rain/​showers, we waited until 12:30 to return them as my girlfriend was not comfortable riding in the rain. The lady at the counter said that they normally charge $ 12 for every hour after the due time, but instead, she «let us off the hook» at $ 5 per hour plus $ 8 refueling fee for one of the mopeds. Considering that Jack gave us the mopeds for $ 30 a day, this hourly late fee is pretty steep relative to the daily rate. I asked to knock off one hour since I was returning mine one hour early… no luck, they took my money. In comparison, our girlfriends initially rented from the competitors over on Lemon Road and returned them 3 – 4 hours late and didn’t get charged a dime.

First time moped rider – Adventure Rentals’ crash course on the how-​tos and what-​nots was very helpful and informational (thanks, Jack). Unfortunately, we didn’t get our full 24 hours on the mopeds just because Waikiki is no place for a newbie rider. But I appreciated the learning experience and I was happy that I wasn’t lectured about it. Bernadette seemed genuinely relieved that I didn’t get into a bad scrape.
Prices were very reasonable compared to other places we looked. We will certainly consider renting or taking a tour with them the next time we are in the area.
The only issue that boggled my mind was that we barely rode the things around the city (I really was that terrified about the things) that they still insisted on charging us a $ 8 refuel fee.
FYI you need a credit card, not a debit card, to rent.

First time I stopped by to check out the prices, the woman working inside didn’t pressure me to rent but instead politely asked if she could help me with what I was looking for. When I declined to rent that day, she sent me off with a friendly smile and a brochure for the place.
After looking around the area though, I still hadn’t found any decently priced moped rental places so I came back to Adventure and I’m really glad that I did! Not only were the prices reasonable, but the guy who works there is capable and it’s easy to see that he cares about his business.
I was really uncomfortable on the moped at first so he took the time to carefully teach me, even though it was evident that he was really busy. It took more than half an hour to teach me! But he was very patient and made sure that I knew what I was doing before he let me off on the road. If it hadn’t been for his concern for my safety, I’m fairly sure that I would’ve gotten into an accident!
Hands down, this place will definitely treat you right and their prices are pretty good! I would definitely pick this place every time if I needed to rent a moped again. They’re great people and they really know how to handle their business !

If you end up renting for couple days. Be aware and lock em together when we rented one of ours got stolen but it was locked up. We had to pay up to $ 1000.00 in stolen property it’s funny how they ask on the forms like what resort your staying at. I just think it’s kinda iffy that they might of took one back on their own. They only took one. They had the chance to take the other. We were at the Aston Waikiki Sunset and parked right in front. They left one because they want one back and when they do, they will hold you at their place, can’t leave till it’s paid what not and will try and file a lawsuit on you.

I went to rent a moped a day before. Something came up and had to cancel. Was told to have a guarantee moped that I have to pay now. I called 3 hours later and they will not refund my rental. They said sorry we told you. I was never told, never signed a contract, never offer a different day or time. Will not recommend this place. They said if I pick it up or not I will still pay for it.

The best thing I did on my trip to Hawaii, easily, was rent a moped. I was travelling by myself (for a conference) and not dealing with public transit or shuttles was great.
I last rode a moped a couple years ago, so picking it back up was easy. They show you how to run everything, so as long as you listen and generally have a clue, you should be fine. They also extended my rental when I called and realized I wouldn’t be back in time to return it. Great service and great prices. Oh, and another Unilocaler mentioned to bring a handkerchief — but the shop will actually loan you one at no charge (I had a stylish purple one)
Also, you end up saving even more money in the end over renting a car, because places either don’t charge for moped parking, you can find something suitable nearby, or it’s cheaper than car parking. For example, Hanuama Bay lets mopeds park for free (and is totally worth a trip).
The only thing is that now I’ve *got* to get my motorcycle license so I can rent a real scooter or motorcycle next time. Mopeds can only get (protestingly) up to 30miles per hour, so you can’t get that far around the island in one day.

Great place! Excellent location and the prices are very reasonable. Rented a scooter for 24 hours for a low price, and with it being our first time, the instructor was extremely helpful and made sure we were comfortable before letting us go free. Easy location from the main Waikiki hotels. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend this place.

Jack is the man. Accidentally found this spot while I was looking for another one. The other place had a Unilocal deal that was $ 25 for $ 24 hrs. Spoke with jack and he said he’d give us the same rate. We ended up keeping the 2 mopeds for 3 days and only filled up once. It was the most convenient way to get around. Jack even let us keep them for an extra hr on the last day.
I’d definitely go back to this place again

Found this hole in the wall spot on Unilocal after finding out that the guy down the block jacked up the prices due to the Labor Day holiday. (The guy was charging $ 45 for 24h! RIDICS!)
Jack from Adventure Rentals on the otherhand, was GREAT and REASONABLE! He gave us the most thorough orientation and even had each of us practice some «exercises» before we scooted off.
Jack charged us $ 28 for 24h and even allowed us to turn the mopeds in at a later time than scheduled. Mind you we rented the mopeds on Labor Day weekend and there were 8 of us!
For any first time riders, I highly suggest that you check this place out! We had a really good experience and we definitely will come back to see Jack when we’re in Waikiki again!

A group of friends and I decided we’d have a themed moped-​riding activity one day. My friend did some research online and found that Adventure Rentals in Waikiki had one of the best deals around ($ 35 to rent the moped all day + $ 7 insurance), and so she called in and made reservations for the five of us. Although the location was a bit difficult to find (it’s this makeshift alleyway looking area — a bit Diamond Head of King’s Village on Kuhio Ave) and they didn’t offer a lot for us to park our cars in (we carpooled/​valet-​ed at a nearby hotel), I’d say the fun was well worth it! The majority of us had never ridden mopeds before, but the guy who was working there was very nice and informative about the safety aspect and what to expect in general.
We took the mopeds around Diamond Head, to Kahala, up to Hawaii Kai and back. It was a great way to spend a Sunday: D
Some tips:
— Figure out your parking situation beforehand, whether you wanna pay for valet somewhere or bring coins for street meters
— You might have to wait here and there, as there seems to be only one worker there at a time
— Bring a handkerchief to wear under their (free) rental helmets
— Don’t forget to wear sunscreen

My friend and I came here after reading nightmare stories about another moped rental shop. It also helped that other Unilocalers have praised this shop. My experience with Adventure Rentals was nothing but great service and I had alot of fun riding around the island.
They offer reasonable prices (cheaper than Austin at least) for rentals. It’s $ ³⁵⁄₂₄ hrs, which is your best bet. They also have 4 hr. and 8 hr. rentals. Adventure accepts major credit cards as well as cash. You can call in advance to reserve mopeds or walk-​in. We went during an off-​season so there were plenty mopeds available.
Make sure to take photos of your rental scooter AT the shop. This is your proof that there was no additional damage caused by you when you bring the scooter back. The guys over there are pretty laid back and have no problem of you taking pictures.
They are very thorough with instructing you with how to handle a moped if you’re a newbie. They also know moped-​friendly roads if you’re not familiar with Oahu. Have fun and take photos!
