Great little hole in the wall place, easy to miss, hard to get to — the characteristic of all the good places. Parking is scarce, but nothing a little walk from Ala Moana mall cant help. They have just about anything and everything a tobacconist needs/​wants. Their staff is very friendly and helpful, very dynamic and conversations with them don’t go awry. I liked their enthusiasm when I mentioned that I wanted to try pipes and they gave me some good suggestions which I will likely try on my next visit. These guys are true «Brothers Of The Leaf».

Nice shop even if it’s little hard to get to. Great selection and they have the only remaining cigar lounge on the island.

Good place for a variety of products

Great shop, lounge, selection, and customer service.
Every time I’ve been there the staff has been helpful, friendly, and informative.
While their prices seem on the high side sometimes, I gladly pay them knowing that TOH has the only cigar lounge and that every time I want to buy cigars they’re guaranteed to either have what I want or something comparable.

Having recently gotten back into loving cigars, I started poking around Honolulu for the stuff. I drive by this place a lot on my way to work but had never gone in. I first checked out a different place that did have great cigars, but I always felt like I was being looked down upon for being a beginner, so to speak. Done with that place; they won’t even get a second chance.
Then I finally checked this place out. Yes, the cigars are a bit pricey. Yes, their accessories are too. Yes, you will spend money here. This is Hawaii, after all.
But you will gladly do it, too. Because what you will ALSO find here is absolutely top quality service. I’ve been deeply involved with customer service for many years and the staff here are on their game. From the very first visit I felt not ridicule from the staff but a welcoming into the world of cigars. There is no pressure and they don’t push anything on you, but if you ask them for recommendations they will be glad to give them to you; each of the staff members has their favorites, so you’ll end up with a lot of choices. They have quite a good selection of cigars, too, as well as other forms of tobacco products.
On my first visit, Sam was very nice and patient. He answered every question I had and, based on what I could tell him about my previous cigars, recommended a few that absolutely hit the mark. They weren’t the most expensive ones he could have pushed to me, but the ones he felt were best suited to my tastes. As I didn’t have a good cutter he also recommended a great one which I now love. Well done!
This last visit today I spoke to Andrew (hope that’s right I’m terrible with names). He was just as nice and patient as Sam was. He not only helped me build a nice sampler set (to which he then applied a 15% Father’s Day discount!) but disappeared for a bit and returned to produce a pair of Liga Privada Unico Serie Dirty Rats, which are difficult to find. He asked that I check them out and made sure I knew what they were and why he was recommending them to me. I ended up purchasing a travel humidor since I fly a lot, priced reasonably for the Hawaii market.
This is what I’ve been looking for in a cigar shop/​tobacconist. I feel like I visit someone’s home when I go there. They really know their stuff and don’t need to puff out their chests or any such nonsense. They simply stock and sell a great selection of cigars, etc at decent prices and treat you like a fellow enthusiast, encouraging you to learn as much as you can about this hobby. I absolutely don’t mind spending my money here because it’s this attention to detail and attentiveness to patrons that produce lifelong customers. I have just become one. Thank you!

Finally, a real tobacco/​smoke shop! I’m always feeling a little skeptical when browsing in drug-​front shops like Hawaiian Holy Smokes. ;) jk.
I’ve been smoking with papers my whole life and I’ve come to notice that most rolling papers that you can get at liquor stores and smokeshops are pretty thick/​harsh (zig-​zags). But this place has all the variety of «skins». :D
What I look for in a good quality skin is the thinness and size. You want papers that are thin like rice papers for example. Also, you want papers that aren’t too big so it won’t wrap around your joint/​spliff/​whatever like 5 times.
So that’s why I always like to buy the double pack Elements. Another good kine to get is Smoking (blue) — single pack, somewhat of an ultra-​thin hemp paper, and not oversized to put some incentive to not roll «fattys» ;)

This place had a very wide selection of cigars and other tobacco needs. It was my first time buying cigars and the gentleman who helped me pick out cigars was very helpful and answered any question I had. The prices where cheap too. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ am coming back.

I love this store. The best cigar store I’ve been to in a long time. And they have military discounts so that was an A+ for me

This is a great little cigar shop/​lounge. Admittedly the selection here on Oahu is sparse, but this place does a nice job. I go to cigar shops and lounges in every city I visit and always give the brick and mortar cigar stores a little business. This store has a great selection of some not so easy to find sticks. They even had a box and a half of Cohiba Comadors. Tough to find these so I bought all they had.
We enjoyed a couple of sticks in their lounge, small but comfortable and were on our way. Would recommend.

I’ve been here twice now and both visits were great. The first time Sam helped me and since I’m new to the cigar smoking world he helped me a lot and the cigars that he recommended were just as «advertised.» He recommend a variety of cigars to get me started at various price ranges, which I liked. I liked that he didn’t just recommend the higher priced ones. I also like that they refill my xikar lighter for free because I don’t smoke often so having them refill for me is easier than me buying fuel and just having it sit on my desk.
The second time around Sam wasn’t there so another staff member helped me out (I forgot to get his name) but he was just was helpful as Sam. Since I smoked a few of the cigars that Sam recommend I told the staffer that I liked those ones and asked for his recommendation on a cigar that’s similar to the ones Sam recommend and it was pretty good.
Definitely a place for people just starting out to go, the staff is super helpful, they aren’t pushy at all and they seem to be very knowledgeable on their products. Since they aren’t pushy and seem eager to help a newbie it was less intimidating for a first timer. Like I mentioned before they don’t just push the higher priced cigars, they will recommend cigars of all price ranges. If you are new to the cigar smoking world A-​1 Tobaccos of Hawaii is the place to go.
The only thing that’s a little difficult and this has nothing really to do with the store, is the parking. There is metered street parking and parking in the back of the store. The lot is a little confusing because there are no arrows directing the flow of traffic but the stalls are slanted which does indicate a direction. However, some of the stalls are slanted in one direction and there are other stalls slanted in the opposite direction but there is no entry/​exit in the middle. So when you exit the lot you are exiting against the indicated flow, so be careful.

As far as I am concerned A-​1 Tobaccos is the only place you will want to buy a cigar in Hawaii. If Justin, the manager, is working ask him to recommend a cigar. He has great knowledge, and acts with integrity. Meaning, he doesn’t just recommend the more expensive cigars. He recommends what he believes people will truly enjoy. If you already know what you like, then I am sure you will find it here. They have a wide selection. It never hurts to also ask if they have anything new or not on the sales floor. Sometimes they have new product they haven’t been able to put on the floor. Also a great place to buy a Xikar lighter. Lighters tend to break or stop working. If you buy a Xikar from A-​1, they replace it if you have any problems.

There are two cigar shops in Oahu I’m aware of, and this one beats the other one by 10,000 galactic miles! Justin is amazingly awesome, and made me feel right at home right off the bat. The selection here easily trounces the other place both in selection and price.
You can even enjoy your purchase (s) in the adjoining lounge which has plenty of proper ventilation & air filtering. The membership fee is only $ 5/​day and lasts for the entire day, so you can come back a couple times a day if you want. :-)
This is my favorite cigar shop & lounge in Oahu hands-​town, and I’m sure it’ll be yours, too!

Whether you’re a novice or connoisseur, you are going to appreciate this shop.
Knowledge. These guys smoke, and their PK is up to snuff.
Friendly. No stuck up attitudes from these young guys. I can’t say the same for some other shops.
Selection. Widest selection of cigars from what I’ve seen… value cigars all the way to the big bucks.
Value. Get a little discount with a card. Ask for it! Great cigars, reasonable price.
Had no hassle returns if I got a poorly wrapped cigar… just bring back unused portion and get a full credit. The thing I like the most is exploring the cigars and their various nuances. These guys are patient and like I said earlier, the nicest guys.
A little bonus is the smoking room in the back. Air conditioned and big screen TV.

I have been a regular customer of TOH for a couple of years, and they are fantastic. They are well stocked with Cigars in all price ranges, the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating, and it is just a good experience every time I walk in.
I could order all of my cigars online, but I’d rather support these guys than save a few bucks here and there, because when I want a good cigar right now, I know they will be there waiting.

Wow! What a great place! The assortment is HUGE, the people are really nice and knowlegeable. They have EVERYTHING for the cigar smoker… cigar clip holder (for the golf cart… too cool), cutters, cases, lighter, humidors, etc and all price points… they also have lots of other tobacco products as well.
I can definitely see why guys come here to shop for their tobacco needs…

I didn’t actually get to buy anything here, but needed to review them anyway.
When I saw on Unilocal that there was a smoke shop nearby I was sold. I thought we could settle in for an hour and have a good cigar, but nope.
They have a great selection of cigars and I didn’t think the prices were too outrageous, however when I asked if we could smoke in the back, the guy was like «Sure, if you’re a member.». Huh? No mention of that anywhere on their site.
He rattled off a ton of options, but basically if I wanted to go to the back and smoke it would be for a fee of $ 5 on top of whatever I wanted to buy. Not necessarily outrageous, but also left a sour taste in my mouth since it was just for the privilege of sitting in the backroom. No thanks, I’ll pass.
