The food is exceptional, the place is super clean and lots of ambiance. Our first time was our anniversary dinner. Quaint restaurant and the dinner was awesome. Went later on for a night out and had the best pork chop I had ever eaten in my life. Then, took my Mom here for her bday lunch because it was pouring rain and it was close by. Lunch was just your average lunch menu, not spectacular but still by no means bad. Would never go for lunch again. Just a better dining experience if you are going for dinner — which by the way, always packed so make reservations early. Drinks are yummy too. Dani the bartender is awesome.

Awesome job guys, the food was top notch, something i wasnt expecting. By that I mean it was just a step above what I ever thought it could be. We brought a family there for a grandparents anniversary. They were accommodating because we had a small child. No one left disappointed, just full and happy. Amazing burger!

It has amazing food, at a fair price. I’ve had many things here and all of it was good. The lighting is a little dim for my taste, and I took my children here, and it is not very kid friendly. Service is good though and it’s fun to go here on special equations.

Just had dinner in this restaurant. I have to say may be it is the best place to eat in Wilmington. I think the chef prepared every dish with his unique talent. I got the Foie gras which was fantastically prepared very well and it was an ample portion, the sweetbread for my husband was delightful. My main dish was Tile fish with octopus which was cooked and presented in an attractive combination with collard greens & potato, and my husband dish was pork shank braised perfectly tender and delicious. It was a great dinner and we thought we have to try a dessert to complete that perfect experience, so we got a pear tart and it was enjoyable. Our server was pleasant and was attentive to all our needs all during the dinner. I will recommend this place to all my friends, as we tend to go to other places and we settle for so far less products and service My only recommendation to this place in order to expand the customer flow is to improve parking as it is very limited.

My girlfriend and I went her for Valentine’s Day and it was a wonderful experience. I ordered the duck breast and she order a steak. Both of us absolutely loved our meals. The meat and vegetables were so fresh. Also the staff here was great. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

Went for Christmas Eve dinner, they had a prix fixe menu with multiple options. Braised short ribs fell apart with a fork and melted in your mouth. Rosemary chicken was moist and flavorful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside is it is small inside and can get a little loud, but it is a house and definitely worth the trip.

This restaurant is terrific! The menu is so interesting and uses locally grown products, like mushrooms. Intimate and upscale with learned staff who obviously take great pride in the menu and its offerings. My husband took me there for my birthday and I just loved it. I can’t wait to go back!

I visited for a belated birthday brunch at 11am this morning. Having heard that William and Merry was rated as one of the top restaurants in northern DE a year or so ago, I bookmarked it for an eventual visit, and my 30th birthday presented an opportune occasion to try it out. Given that my family members aren’t foodies or big spenders, and that I’m a perpetual fan of brunch, I suggested that we try it out for this meal, which I don’t often get to enjoy. After perusing the menu, we ordered the following: breakfast burrito(my dad; $ 14), French toast(my mom; $ 12), grilled ham and cheese(my brother; $ 12), and house crepes(me; $ 13). Additionally, to accompany our meals, my parents both ordered coffee, my dad ordered a side of bacon($ 4), and I ordered a cup of the soup du jour($ 6). The soup, which was a butternut squash potato bacon bisque, was served to me prior to the meal in the same tall cups used to serve the coffee. It was absolutely delicious – in fact, it was my favorite part of the meal! – such that I savored every sip. Rather than taking the usual stuffed form, the crepes were of the deconstructed variety, which made for a beautiful presentation but some awkwardness in cutting up and eating, particularly with respect to getting all of the flavors in each bite. Nevertheless, they were creative in ingredients and quite tasty. I tried a bite of my mom’s French toast, and it was absolutely delicious – the flavor of the lemon curd and the whipped cream offset the blueberries in the bread nicely. Additionally, I tried some of the bacon, which was perfectly crispy with a hint of black pepper, as well as a slice of pumpkin bread served with the meal, which was delicately flavored, soft, and airy. Although I didn’t try my dad’s or my brother’s entrees, I can attest that the burrito was huge, and that they both enjoyed them. My brother offered me one of the frites that came with his sandwich, and it was perfectly crispy and seasoned. Needless to say, we were all quite pleased with the quality of food at William and Merry. The pricing was on par with that of many of the upscale-ish restaurants serving brunch in Pittsburgh, which is to say that it was on the high side for DE, but well worth it. The ambiance, as others have mentioned, is quite pleasant – we were seated in the upstairs dining area, and the tables were far enough apart that we didn’t feel as though we were intruding on our neighbors’ meal(unlike some restaurants known for brunch in PGH, which shall remain unnamed…). While dinner there wouldn’t really be up my parents’ alley, I’d definitely be eager to try it myself, and all of us would be willing to return for brunch, for sure. Although I can’t say I’m terribly familiar with the brunch offerings in DE, I think it’s safe to say that this has to be one of the best, given that the quality is on par with many well-known restaurants serving brunch in PGH – a city that takes brunch quite seriously!

Friends, the reviews are correct. This little gem is a must. The service was stellar, the food profound, and the beer was the best tasting beer I’ve had on tap. We sat on deck on a Sunday afternoon. I had one of their gourmet burgers which was aesthetic in presentation and savory in taste. This was a massive burger and puts to rest the lifelong quest to find burger perfection. The waiter was outstanding as well and clearly gets the whole concept of the ebb and flow of service– when you serve and when you let be. Thank you and I assure you, next date, I’m coming back!

Hands down, one of the best dinners we’ve ever had. Amazing little spot in middle of nowhere, cozy for special date nights, and only 25 minutes away from our house. We will absolutely be back! If you go you must try the chef’s tasting plate.

Easily the best place for lunch in Delaware. Homemade scrapple and sausage were the best around. Duck confit sandwich with blue cheese and egg was excellent and my friend said his burger was easily the best he’s ever had. Looking forward to coming back for Dinner.

I met up here with a girlfriend for Saturday brunch. I had been here before for both dinner and Sunday brunch, but this was my first Saturday outing and her first time altogether. The brunch is not your typical eggs and potatoes. Offerings range from breakfast burritos the size of a newborn, to a bacon burger where you’d have to unhinge your jaw to eat it. I will say that the Sunday brunch menu seems to have more sweet options whereas our Saturday experience focused more on the savory. We both got the crepes which included a crispy poached egg, arugula, beets, citrus goat cheese, and prosciutto. The crêpe came out deconstructed and not with all of the ingredients inside the crêpe as expected. This did make the crêpe more fun to eat as you could assemble it as you go. Plus it would have been tricky to eat the poached egg if it was within the crêpe. We both really enjoyed our meal and it was completely different than any other brunch offering we had tried before. I believe in the past that there were also breakfast pastries or breads that were served as a complimentary starter. I am not sure if this is only offered on Sunday. Either way, it was missed.

We returned to the area and were eager to return to this wonderfully imaginative, nouvelle cuisine restaurant in Hockesin Delaware. We had reservations but wouldn’t have needed them on a Thursday night at 6:30. There were still empty tables when we left at 8:30. Parking can be a challenge on a busy evening. There is a parking area adjacent to the to the restaurant. It is for the local park next to the restaurant but we saw several people use it. We were shown to the upstairs room which is similar in size and lay out to the downstairs but goes up one flight of stairs instead of down the ramp to the lower room. It is a 20’x25’ space with fifteen 2 person tables, set up on this evening for 2 to 6 people but could easily go to 10 people at a table. Décor was simple elegance with light monotone walls, exposed beams and heating ducts with food inspired photographic and painted art. Dino described the menu in detail and with comfort and familiarity. He was attentive and helpful without being cloying. Our two appetizers were divers scallops, three 1.5″ seared scallops with an octopus gazpacho, and the chef’s tasting board. The latter includes 2 tbsp of duck confit, 6 strips of duck prosciutto, 1 oz. scallop mouse, 1 oz. chicken liver mousse, 6 strips of balsamic cured yellow fin tuna with multiple dressings like a house ground mustard and a balsamic reduction and accents like gherkins, olives, and baby radishes. Both showcased the unique combinations of flavor and presentation one can expect here. We followed with spinach salads that features a crispy poached egg. The egg is slow cooked at 140 degrees F. for just under an hour(they have a cooker that accomplishes this) and then, just prior to serving, is carefully shelled, rolled in bread crumbs and then flash fried. It sits on 1 cup of fresh spinach with 2 tbsp. of grated provolone, several red onion rings and a light piquant dressing. The blending of the soft yolk densely enriches the dressing. For an entrée one of us had 3 pieces of braised pork loin, each about 2 oz.(6 oz. total) separated on the plate by 2 large grilled shrimp with a small dice of sautéed carrot, red pepper, chives and a ½ cup of a creamy polenta. Although presented as though cooked on a skewer, the pork and the shrimp perfectly done which seemed to preclude that. Another entrée was halibut, 8 – 6 oz. of grilled portobello dusted fish with a mixture of crisp peas, carrots and onions in a ¼ cup of rich broth. The final main dish was wolffish, 6 oz. of dense, rich, flaky white fish that crossed lobster and scallops in flavor and was accompanied by crunchy fava beans and a light seafood influenced sauce. All were perfectly cooked, artfully presented, and wonderfully flavorful. Few restaurants of this caliber hold up to scrutiny on a return visit. This visit to The House of William and Mary exceeded our high expectations.

Elegant Dining. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Delaware. Everything we tried was cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were a group of four and tried the octopus appetizer, the duck breast, wild boar and veal. Everything was outstanding. The desserts were great too. Can’t wait to go back.

Sunday brunch on the porch. Food was fabulous and service was professional and friendly. My french toast was wonderful. The different flavors of the peaches and mascarpone shone through because the dish was not too sweet(a rare feat for sure). My side of scrapple was served just as ordered, sliced thin. My husband’s breakfast burrito was massive and tasty with eggs, cheddar, pork tenderloin and bacon. The place has a foodie vibe but it’s tempered by the down to earth staff… none of that too cool to be serving you mere mortal attitude. Wonderful. We will return to try their dinner offerings.
