Sterling Optical

So this was my first time at sterling optical, and I was a little skeptical because I’m very picky with eyewear. But I decided to try it because of the groupon I found. I broke my glasses and desperately needed a new pair the same day. I called ahead, and Corina told me that depending on the prescription, they may be able to. When I arrived, I was greeted by Corina, who was unbelievably friendly and helpful. She managed to convince the specialist who made the lenses to get my completed today, even though she already had a full queue. Corina immediately began to help me find new frames and figured out what I liked quickly. Which was really helpful, considering I was having trouble seeing. She was extremely patient the entire time and picked out frames that I really liked. The selection of frames isn’t huge, but they’re good quality. I settled on a frame and was tentatively considering buying a second frame that I really loved, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the money on. Corina managed to save me an extra 25% on the second frame on top of the $ 200 groupon, which brought the second frame to a more affordable price. All in all, she saves me just under $ 560 on two frames that I absolutely love, and did so while providing excellent customer service. I couldn’t have been happier with my service here.

Staff was very nice. But the optometrist named Dr. Berman at this facility was very incompetent and unprofessional. This so called Doctor lacked professional by all means and talked with much disrespect. Avoid this place at all cost because of this Doctor. You might as well go to a place who will actually render service and not just steal your money.

I walked into Sterling Optical with a $ 200.00 groupon towards my glasses. It was a great groupon because it wasn’t a exam/​glasses combo. I went in by myself because I needed them as soon as possible and all my friends were busy over the holiday weekend. I was greeted by Isamar Maldonado and Margaret Derago. I have never received such a warm and friendly greeting with beautiful smiles. I told them my needs and they were both exceedingly knowledgable. They took turns because other customers were in and out, but I was there forever and they patiently asked me my preferences and pulled out frame after frame. I have ADHD and It’s kinda hard to make final decisions with this sort of thing on my own. They were honest, but gracious young adults. Finally after hours; I found a pair that I was thrilled with and they both agreed. On top of this… the glasses that I picked were over my budget. This is really due to the lenses that I need, but the frames were a bit more than I would have liked to have spent on glasses. I told them that I needed to call my husband first because we are a team and after all their help… not even a frown from them. They said okay and while I was waiting to hear back from my husband they were running trying to find a similar pair of frames.
These were two supportive, operative and efficient young adults and the owner of this particular Sterling Optical is extremely blessed to have them as their employees. I think they both deserve a raise! Thank you girls and God Bless. I will see you when I come in to pick up my glasses.

I had a groupon I need an eye exam so I thought it was a good opportunity to go to sterling at the Broadway mall. To my surprise I did not save any money by doing that. When you present a Groupon you are charged a higher price for the glasses. So there is not discount. I paid over $ 400 for glasses.
They claim the glasses retails for$ 600. The eye doctor was wonderful. He answered all my concerns and was very attentive to my needs. So my experience here is not all bad. Except my glasses should be transition but I do not notice the difference while I am in the sun, so I need to bring them back to have them to be corrected. Let’s see what happens… also sterling serms to be the store that has flexo frames.

Avoid this place at all costs!!! I went in with my new script and decided it was time for new frames, as I now needed transition lenses. I’ve had some experience with optical stores over the past 5 years but nothing like this. While the staff comes across quite pleasant, the store could use some restoration… It is rundown. My biggest complaint is that they are a ripoff!!! After picking frames I liked… And going over what I needed pertaining to my lenses, etc. I almost fainted when she came back with the cost… It was ridiculous ! I know every store marks up their prices to make more of a profit but 300%!!! I left without further discussion. Once home, with the model number of the frames I liked, I went online… I found I could purchase the same frames for $ 130… And the store manager quoted me $ 479.00!!! That’s just for the frames… Needless to say, I decided to head over to Vision World in Garden City… I found the same frames there… With the transition lenses I needed and an added bonus of getting new lenses in my old glasses for back up… My total was just under $ 450.00 FOR EVERYTHING! Now here’s a place that values you as a customer. At a time when things are hard for everyone… Shame on you for ripping people off. Run, don’t walk… STERLING Optical is a scam…

Was having trouble driving at night so I decided to come in to get some glasses, my sister also needed a new pair so she came as well. We made appointments over the phone and arrived on time and were taken in for an eye exam almost immediately. The girl working the floor was Serena and she couldn’t of been a bigger help. She got us in with the doctor for the exam and when we came out she was very informative on letting us know what our results meant. She wasn’t overly pushy and we didn’t feel as if she was trying to get us to spend more money for her own benefit. She helped us pick out the perfect frames and then explained all the different features and warranties they had for our new glasses. She made our experience great, I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends. They had a great selection of glasses at reasonable prices.

This review is based off me just window shopping at the store which I must say was a pleasant experience. The store is nice and open. Almost all of the glasses are on display for you to pick up, try on and play with without waiting for an attendant to assist you. The attendants were prompt in coming by to help me, but if you prefer to shop on your own first you have the luxury of doing this. Unlike Cohen’s which is also located in the mall and has the complete opposite shopping experience. The prices seem decent. They have high end stuff and they have cheap stuff. They also have high end stuff which was on sale for almost 40−50% which again cohens didn’t seem to offer. Again I didn’t make a purchase here (I ended up buying at cohen’s… should of read the reviews first) but any future glasses orders will be done at Sterling.
