Come here for the guava mimosas, mexican brunch, and patio views. Food: Food is cheap, delicious, and exactly what one looks for after a night of drinking. The chips are homemade and come with a nice spicy salsa. I got a burrito, highly recommended. Drinks: The guava mimosas are not the fanciest things you will drink, but they’re great for the $ 15 price tag. It comes in a giant pitcher. Service: Attentive, friendly service.

We were looking for a good mexican place on the beach, and from the reviews, this seemed like it might be it. The chips and salsa were good, and so was the sangria margarita, but they didn’t have frozen margaritas or strawberry flavored. I got a chicken quesadilla, which technically had chicken and cheese and a tortilla, but it was just shredded cheddar cheese. In the midwest our chicken quesadillas come with white goat cheese inside when you get them at mexican restaurants. This was like a bad applebees one. I ate a few bites and left the rest. Super bummed because I was so excited to have mexican on the beach.

Came here for brunch last weekend. Hands down my new favorite breakfast spot in hermosa. I had huevos rancheros and my friend had one of the burritos. Both SOGOOD. Super flavorful, fresh, big portions, and affordable prices(especially for the South Bay). We also got unlimited homemade chips and salsa. Delicious. The salsa was a bit spicy, so we had to get a pitcher of the guava mimosa to wash it down. Also amazing! Our server was wonderful. Didn’t mind that we took our time finishing our pitcher of mimosas, and he put the umbrella up on the patio when it looked like it might rain. The wall of love locks is a cute idea(one lock is $ 25 I think. You can buy one, write your names on it, then put it on the wall!). With the friendly atmosphere, good food, and beautiful view of the ocean, can’t lose with this place!

Tiny cute little place. Always been seated right away… Service is good, skinny margs are good. Food is very subpar. Luckily it’s not too pricey. Would go back out of convenience but not if I’m really craving Mexican food…

This is a great place for a beach view Sunday brunch. Try the guava mimosa, it won’t disappoint. The back patio has a very nice atmosphere.

Wonderful welcome. Feels very comfy, homey. The patio is WONDERFUL! The view is wonderful night or day. Service is great. The guava mimosas are delish! Bottomless tasty homemade chips and delish red salsa. The Daniella burrito is yummy and the beef fajitas are delicioso! Bookmarked La Playita for next time. Will definitely be back!

This quaint little place is a great Mexican food spot! Located in front of a little seaside grass park, the views are stunning! Prices and food are definitely on board with the area and not over priced by any means. Service rocks by long time employees and owner who works pretty much daily! And… real margaritas! Yes, not the rice wine version! An experience not to be missed for sure!

Sorely disappointed. Since I was in the neighborhood, I came here based on the reviews from other Unilocalers. I ordered two carne asada tacos a la carte and it costed me $ 8.90($ 4.45 each)! Totally wasn’t worth it. For the price I paid, I should have went to Ortega 120, most especially for the quality of the food. The chips and salsa were the only thing good here.

Love, Love, Love this place! My favorite Mex Food in the South Bay. Great location, enjoy the patio seating with the awesome view of park like setting and the beautiful ocean. The food is always tasty and never greasy. Even the chips are not greasy. I have eaten here several times and brought family and friends and all say this place is a real find! It has always been a pleasure dining here. :)

My favorite place to eat in the Hermosa Beach area. Great food, nice staff. You cant beat the price, given the location, right on the beach! I take folks new to the are there while on business. Nothing but good experiences. The best thing about it is that while the food is good and it is at the beach, you don’t get the trendy and sort of Insta-famous types there. Very laid back.

Wish they had the«½ star» button these guys are a solid 31⁄2 stars for me. Food is always fresh however there’s nothing that stands out as exceptional. I love Mexican food so my expectations are pretty high. The enchiladas I had were filling and hit the spot as well as the margaritas. If the weathers nice sit out back and enjoy the ocean views. I will say they’re always very friendly when we go there, service is 4 stars for sure !

Such a relaxing place. I love the way this restaurant sits back in the park a little ways from the Strand. It helps it feel close enough to admire the beach views, but far enough that you won’t be bothered by loud tourists all around on busy days. It’s almost hidden in plain site. Aside from the great atmosphere and views, the food and service is solid too. When I come for breakfast I like to enjoy the Healthy Scramble with a side of fruit. For lunch I love the veggie burrito. This is also one of those places where your glass is never empty for more than a minute. The staff is always on top of things, in addition to being very courteous. This is exactly the kind of place you want to go to if you’re looking for a restaurant at the pier that won’t be overly crowded or noisy.

GUAVAMIMOSAS!!! their chilaquiles = breakfast nachos. GENIUS! so delish! Chips are thick and fresh. served with a spicy salsa. This place is off the beaten path and so worth the walk off the strand. the best part is you can still see the ocean from your seat! overall — nothing super fancy but the place will fill your stomach without emptying your wallet and without giving you food poisoning! double win!

This is a great little restaurant with some good food. Located down on 14th Street; which as anyone from the beach area knows means parking can get frustrating. But if you don’t come on a weekend in the summer, there is usually parking to be found somewhere. Just expect a little bit of a walk… maybe a block to three block walk. As for the food: Food is great. Their rice is delicious.(Rice and beans are often overlooked when it comes to rating food.) Last time I was hear I ordered the Enchiladas Hermosas, which are enchiladas with snow crab and pollack. A lot of times you order something that says it has crab and fish, and you get some fish and a touch of crab. These things were LOADEDWITHCRAB! Will definitely be coming back here. OH! Great spot for a work lunch, too. Just call in your order about 20 minutes out and when you get there they will set you up with a table and your food, no wait. Perfect when you have an hour or less to grab some grub.

La playita just makes me so happy with life. They have the best Mexican food in the south bay hands down. Everything is delicious and the owners have created such a delightful, mellow and friendly ambiance. What I love most about this place is their approach to food. They make everything healthy and I appreciate knowing that what I’m eating here is good for me. No lard. Recently I have become obsessed with the shrimp enchiladas here, give them a try bc they are so yummy and delicious!

I have no complaints — delicious food, friendly service, beautiful view from the patio and birds chirping to accompany our meal like we were in a Disney movie. I had the Chili Verde plate, which was good, but my hubs definitely made the better choice with the carnitas burrito with mole because that thing was awesome. Despite it being a larger amount of food than any single human should consume at one sitting, with a little help from me, we almost completely polished that sucker off and enjoyed every. single. bite. I’m giving 5 stars because, surprisingly, after 5 days in Cali, this is the first mexican meal we had that was better than what we could get at home.
