Beach House at Hermosa

I’m not really into writing negative reviews. I run a business myself and understand what type of impact online reviews can have. I also understand what good service should look like. I did not feel they delivered the experience that I was paying for.
I traveled here in August 2015, and despite the great location found the whole experience lacking. The staff seemed to be bothered the entire time. When we asked for extra towels and sheets for the pull out couch — they were delivered to the door but thrown at us. For a Hotel of this calibre (and price) I would have expected the couch to be pulled out and the sheets put on for me.
What really irked me though was the complimentary breakfast. I have a peanut allergy and when I asked the attendant what was in the Banana Bread — I was only handed another loaf instead of an answer.
Overall I felt ripped off and extremely negative about the entire experience. Regretfully, I would recommend looking at other Hermosa Beach options.

I came to CA to spend the weekend by the water for my birthday. The Beach House was the perfect escape. The rooms are ample and clean and the customer service is excellent.
During my stay I decided to get a spa treatment. I opted for the 60 minute Be Well massage and the Fresh Face massage. My masseuse Carol was AMAZING. She was attentive to my needs and made it a serene and relaxing experience. I wish I had a masseuse like her back in NJ! Highly recommended.

I don’t write reviews. Maybe I have, once. But I need to really give a shout-​out to the Beach House. My wife and I have stayed there for her birthday twice in the past three years. Not a big deal. A night on the beach (ocean front room), dinner out locally, dessert in the room, morning bike ride, walk down the pier,. I think what makes the Beach House great is that the rooms are modestly sized but super clean and super efficient so they seem roomy. Bed is huge and comfy. Fireplace is a nice quirk. Small kitchen area with all the amenities is perfect. Centrally located so we don’t need to drive anywhere. Continental breakfast is small but just right for what we wanted.
We’ve been to places in Laguna, Malibu, Santa Monica, Mexico, the East Coast, but nothing matches the mix of price, location, view, service and comfort of the Beach House. We look forward to going again next year.

I stay in a lot of hotels, too many actually, and The Beach House is always the one that it hardest to leave. It has the ideal location, great facilities and fantastic rooms. The staff has always been accommodating.

I went back earlier this week and I had the best time of my life! The front desk were all pleasant and helpful. I love this place, I love the people who work there, I loved my ocean view. I plan to return in a few months. This place is on The Strand, so if you’re looking for a beachfront hotel, this is it. Any closer I’d be on the beach.

After much research my partner and I finally decided to stay here to celebrate our anniversary. I found it so hard to find a nice hotel, not motel, located right along the beach, but this place was exactly what we were looking for. We originally booked an Ocean View room because it was located on the 2^nd and 3^rd floors and we wanted to be away from the noise of the first floor. Having read reviews prior to booking this hotel, I was already aware of the $ 25 valet charge per night, per car. Valet parking is not optional and unless you want to pay to park elsewhere (good luck) then you have no choice but to do valet. However, as certain travelers are aware, when you book a hotel in an area where parking is scarce you are more than likely going to be charged by the hotel to park your car. We checked in on a Sunday (check-​in is at 4pm) and were given a room on the first floor. As we opened the door we realized that they had upgraded us to an Ocean Front room which was really nice!
The room was pleasant and bright. It contained a fridge, microwave, sink, and two stove top burners with a tea kettle. The fire place was also a really nice touch to the room. The size of the bathroom was excellent however, the shower was a little small and could only hold one person. When on the balcony I noticed that the windows were tinted so people could not look in on you from the outside, which is important if your room is on the first floor. The bed and pillows were soft and the shower amenities were Aveda products.
The hotel has continental breakfast which was one of the best continental breakfast’s I’ve had in awhile. However, it is a continental breakfast which means there are no eggs or sausage/​bacon. They had a lot of different bread choices and bagel selections. They had oatmeal and Raisin Bran cereal as well as Yoplait yogurt and apples/​oranges. I also really liked that they had grapefruit juice along with orange juice and milk as drink choices. All the food were in enclosed containers so no flies could get into anything! I really enjoyed their 12pm check-​out and their 6:30am-11am continental breakfast. This allowed my partner and I to get breakfast, bring it back to the room, sit on our balcony, and eat breakfast while drinking our tea.
However, my concerns with having a room on the first floor were accurate. It was a bit noisy and it took me awhile to fall asleep as you do hear the people talking by your room and the skateboarders going by. My partner slept just fine and once I was able to fall asleep I was good too. In no way does this hinder the quality of the room as it is expected that having a room on the first floor is always a bit nosier than the rooms on the top floor. If this really bothers you, then ask them for a room on the second/​third floor and I’m sure they would be more than happy to assist you, if available.
The room also had a few gnats and we found a couple mosquitoes in the room that flew in while we had the balcony door open. However, we did stay at the hotel during a very hot and humid time of year which is why we had a few bugs flying into our air conditioned room. This too, is expected, and not the hotels fault.
This was a really nice hotel and we would stay here again in an Ocean Front room.

On top of it, after repeated requests, they won’t release an ovee $ 1,800 charge on my credit card… very nice! We checked out 1 week 2 days ago and paid cash…

Expensive but great place we stayed here for fiesta Hermosa get a 3^rd floor direct ocean view!

This is my family’s favorite place to stay when we come to visit the LA area. We just stayed there this past weekend. If you stay there longer than two nights, the staff begins to learn your names. you can’t beat the ocean views and the close proximity to the beach. I love being able to get a quick workout in the gym and then walking on the beach. The rooms are spacious and I love that each room has a fireplace for those cool nights. I can’t wait to go back again!

Everything about this hotel was wonderful. I came here with family to celebrate my graduation and it was a very relaxing vacation. We had a beach front view on the third floor where we enjoyed lounging, laughing, & company.
The room was spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the clean dishes they provided in the room. Everything we needed was in the room. Rooms are quiet; we never heard our neighbors or hallway noise. The valet service is very awesome with their customer services as well.
My father and I booked massages with Christina and both of us came out very relived and relaxed. Christina was very sweet with professional technique. We definitely recommend booking a massage with her.
Overall, our entire family was satisfied and very happy with our stay. Totally worth coming back!

The Beach House is our favorite place to stay in Hermosa. The rooms are always clean and well taken care of. Pay the extra and get a beach facing room. Worth every penny. If you get a second or third floor room you can leave your patio door open and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
Rooms come with a small fridge, coffee maker, whirlpool tub, two TV’s and a nice sitting area in front of a gas fireplace.
Service is always first class. And the location cannot be beat.

Loved staying here, the staff is accommodating, the place is immaculate, there is so much to see and do here. The only thing unknown to us was that you pay $ 25 a night to valet, there is no free parking anywhere near the hotel.

The Beach House is as good as it gets in Hermosa Beach. I’ve stayed at a few places around Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, and this place takes the cake. I’ve been lucky enough to stay here three times. Once I had a side ocean view, once no view at all except buildings (I don’t suggest spending the money on that option), and lastly, oceanfront (by far, the best).
Each room is set up as a studio apartment with a separate living area (by a small barrier), a small kitchenette (with two cooktops, a fridge, a microwave, pots, pans, plates, etc), a huge tub and stand-​up shower with amenities (including comfy robes), and a comfy King sized bed.
They provide Continental Breakfast, which is much better than any other one I’ve seen, that they serve at a ocean view patio or you can take back to your room. They have a hot tub and fitness facilities, valet parking which allows in and out (for an additional $ 25 a night), room service from local restaurants, and concierge services.
You get what you pay for, and this place is on the higher side of things at around $ 280-​$ 400 (for second and third floor ocean front rooms). I suggest asking for their first floor ocean front rooms, which are the same price as their side view ocean rooms. They price it because of «privacy», but what that means is that your patio is on the Strand with people walking past it. I might not want it on weekend nights, but Sunday and other nights are fine.
My tips:
— Get the first floor oceanfront if you don’t mind people watching (I don’t).
— You can park in the adjacent parking garage, but do this if you’ll be using your car a lot, otherwise the $ 25 may be worth it for the valet. If you’re lucky enough to find a metered street spot, take that one and pay the max.
— They have beach towels, toys, and chairs for your use. Use them!
— When you rent bikes next door, you can get a discount from staying at The Beach House (ask the front desk about it)
— They charge for local calls ($ 1.90), so use your cell phone.

Amazing experience… amazing time. Wonderful massage by Matt fantastic service from the entire staff. I will be staying here a lot more now that I know it’s there. I’d give 10 stars if I could. Thank you Beach House

Stayed here last night – it’s gorgeous! Clean, modern and stylish!
Lovely bed, large and elegant bathroom with a tiered living room area and patio.
Only thing they are missing is the pool, but you can run out the door and jump in the
ocean :)

I arrived for a work event Sunday afternoon and the beach right out front was bustling between the sand, the pier, and bike path. The rooms were clean and spacious with living area and basic kitchen amenities even though I didn’t need them. Bathrooms and linens were first class as was the service. Also, the conference food was high quality and very tasty. The little breakfast room that backs up to bike path and sand is pretty awesome for the view of South Bay and Santa Monica Bay to the North. Great establishment at a beautiful location.

I’m very upset with this business. You would think for such an expensive place they would have a more attentive staff.
Their valet had crashed my car into a curb ruining my rim and messing up my alignment. Stuff happens, its fine. What I’m upset about is how the hotel, the valet company, and the company that mails out the reimbursements had handled it.
Since my car’s alignment was off and it was dangerous to drive I had to take time off of work in order to take my car into service and pay out of my pocket as soon as possible.
In no way was management or staff from any of the companies interested in following up. It took TWO months for me to receive my reimbursement. I had wasted my time calling each company EVERY DAY.
The room itself was nothing special. Apart from location they have nothing going for them. The room was just uncomfortable.
I would never stay here again nor recommend anyone to stay here either.

I think the people running the Beach House in Hermosa know what they’re doing. They dot their I’s and cross their T’s. When we first called in, I let the reservationist make the call on picking the perfect view, perfect location, perfect floor which had to be all perfect for someone who was turning 30 years old on a Wednesday.
The price was a little steep compared to my regular trips to Venice, but this was to be a splurge vacay! So we balled out with the valet, which is very odd for me. I actually let the guys load up the cart with all of four bags of luggage and a three day supply of drinking and snacking supplies. Once we got checked into the room a few minutes later our man was at the door and ready to unload everything.
The whole check in process was very delightful. The room was gorgeous! Fresh clean white everything from the bed, to the hand towels, to the safety sealed white dishes in the cupboard, the room was a dream!
The valet had just finished bringing everything in and opened the window shades (not blinds, not curtains, physical heavy shades), and there was the worst view of construction and a port-​a-​potty! BOOOSVILLLE!!! I could almost see the ocean and mounds of sand if it weren’t for the dreadful construction zone and parked cars.
Regardless, our stay, the valet, the awesome neighborhood was definitely worth the change and cost in environment and would highly contemplate staying again.

I loved staying here SO MUCH… what an awesome location. I could wander to the beach with nothing but my room key, a beach towel (provided by the hotel), and a bottle of water (ditto) instead of schlepping everything I’d need for the day in a big bag. Right on the Strand, which I walked up and down all weekend to people watch and to get to a surf lesson in Manhattan Beach. There are tons of restaurants and bars nearby, a convenience store with booze and snacks around the corner, and two grocery stores about a ½ mile away on Pier Avenue. I bought a bunch of fresh fruits/​veggies, cheeses, and wine when I arrived and kept them in the room fridge. Made it easy to eat healthy stuff on the cheap while on vacation.
The room was spacious and clean. The little kitchenette had a mini stovetop (for making tea, I guess — there were no pots/​pans), refrigerator (no freezer compartment), and a microwave. The fireplace was fun at night when the temperature dropped. Also, there was a rubber ducky in the tub! I would not recommend the «partial ocean view» room because it meant was on the first floor and had no privacy in the outdoor seating area. Either splurge for a full ocean view room, or save some money and get a standard room on the 2^nd or 3^rd floor.
Bonus: Called a few days ahead to request early check in. Was able to get into my room without a wait when I arrived at 10AM (6 hours before the standard check in). This was very much appreciated after a long flight and a cab ride from LAX with no A/​C in the middle of a heat wave…

Super tolles Hotel am Strand, Hermosa Beach, Top Frühstück auf der Terrasse. Zimmer luxuriös, sauber. Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, Safe. Hermosa Beach, angenehme, sichere Gegend. Sauberer Strand, Surfen. Ein Rad Verleih gegenüber, 20 $ pro Tag, aber auch Stundenweise oder halbtags. Supermarkt um die Ecke. Parken kostet über Nacht 25 $. Jederzeit wieder. Fahrt mit Bus und Bahn nach LA dauert 2 – 3 Stunden, öffentliche Nahverkehr ist nicht so toll in LA, aber einfach, zumindest mit der Metro, Green Line– Blue Line — Red Line bis Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Bus System ist eher eine Katastrophe :-) geht aber auch. Nähe Flughafen LAX 25 min, Fahrt mit Taxi zwischen 25 und 35 $. Essen Tip, Silvio paar Meter entfernt.
