History

Established in 2010.

Kohala Zipline is a Limited Liability Corporation whose sole member is Hawaii Forest & Trail, Ltd. a corporation owned by Rob and Cindy Pacheco. With support from landowners Surety Kohala Corporation and Kohala Preservation Conservation Trust, Kohala Zipline operates a tree-​based canopy tour in the ahupuaa of Halawa, North Kohala.

Business Owner

Rob Pacheco, co-​Founder and President of Hawaii Forest & Trail, Ltd. and Kohala Zipline, LLC, became interested in the natural world as a child playing in the ponds and fields around his home in Northern California.

After moving to Kona, Hawaii (home to his great-​grandparents) in 1990 he immediately became enraptured with Hawaii’s unique and diverse nature. In 1993, with his wife Cindy, he founded Hawaii Forest & Trail, Ltd., (www​.hawaii​-for​est​.com) an award-​winning eco-​tour company on Hawaii Island. An avid student of Hawaiiana and natural history, Rob has gained a reputation as a well-​rounded naturalist, conservationist, and successful entrepreneur. He and his company have been featured in numerous national print and television media.

Rob’s training and education includes completing the Naturalist Training Program in Boulder, Colorado and studies at the California State University at Chico and the University of Colorado at Boulder. His interests of study encompass a broad rang
