Can’t wait until next October! I’ve never done full contact before, but, damn! I’m never going back to «no contact»! I was picked up and taken away from my group, stuffed in an old freezer and grabbed out of a trap door on the side and brought somewhere else! Twice! It took me a few minutes to figure out where I was again, but I was able to find my group… Eventually. That’s half the fun though. The maze lasted long enough I think! And the actors weren’t corny, they were into it, but none of them took the «full contact» thing too far. It was one of my favorite haunted house experiences! I thought the price was fair too. I hope it doesn’t change next year. I plan to go back.

Anyone complaining about the language or contact… What did you expect? There are warning signs everywhere before you go in. They clearly tell you what to do if you give up and need to get out.
Personally I had a blast. I have never been so scared in my life. First time I have ever been to a haunted house where people can touch you. I was freaked out the whole time and my adrenaline was rushing. I’ll definitely be back next year.

OK so I read the reviews on here and almost didn’t go, but I’m glad I did. I’m not saying that some of the stuff people have said is untrue, but here is my take. I was pretty freaked out all ready when I got there so the whole haunt I was glued to me friends hip, clinging onto him as to not get separated. I think that made them mess with me more ;) The actors did touch me as the disclaimer states, but not in any inappropriate ways. They touched my shoulders, hair, and one grabbed me around the waist but let go as I ran away. No one called me names or made me feel uncomfortable in any way I was not expecting. I do not liked to be touched by strangers so this was a big step for me. I did get separated from my friend at the end when they put me in the freezer… they did not throw me in there, they said I had to go and they just got a little pushy but didn’t hurt me. Maybe they just had a really awesome crew last night, but it truly was a good time. I’m giving it 4 stars because I hate being touched by strangers, but again it does state that it is full contact. Awesome job guys!

This haunt was so much fun!!! I’m always searching for the best haunts, and this one did not disappoint. I’ve worked in haunted houses before, and the person I went through with is a police officer, so we’re not an easy pair to scare, but love haunted houses anyways. At several points we both got scared, so nice work! The actors do a great job off separating customers throughout the attraction. At one point, they actually got me completely alone, which was disturbing. All in all, this haunt is definitely worth the drive and ticket price. I would suggest getting the VIP tickets too, it was nice to skip the long, cold wait in line.

I’d leave no stars if I could. This place is terrible. Previous years it was an actual attraction and it took at least 30 minutes to travel through the haunt. There was actual interaction and real scary rooms and ghouls. 10 stars for previous years.
Now it’s a few overweight, stinky unwashed, poorly costumed, aggressive men that occasionally pop out and actually choke people. Full contact haunt means they touch and interact, not just blatantly assault people. And the entire 7 minutes of the haunt you’re just walking through pitch black halls with filthy foam mattresses hanging.
Don’t waste your $ 20, this place was the worst haunted house I’ve ever been too.

This is my second year coming to Oregon’s only «FULL CONTACT» haunted house and while still packed in plenty of scares and a couple very well done new attractions, it loses much of the fear appeal from the first year. Without giving anything away, prepare yourself to be manhandled and touched… a lot. For newbies, there will be plenty of scares! A very unique haunted experience. *tip, bring as little into the haunted house as you can, just the bare essentials, and leave dangly jewelry at home.

Haunted Houses are usually a little lame and silly, but there were a few things here that got the Rhett rate going. I’m not going to ruin it for you, just go check it out!

My friends and I had a great time! $ 20 seemed a little steep for a haunted house, but now that I’ve been through it, no complaints. Well… Except for one… One of the actors got a little exuberant– and punched me in the face. The punch cut my lip and its a little swollen. So yeah: taking a star off for that one ;)

Paying $ 20 bucks to get physically and verbally abused, thrown against a wall, being called a «fucken bitch» or trying to initiate a fight with patron who is there to enjoy themselves is not my idea of fun or scary. Pulling my friends hair consistently was not cool either. Spend your money on something fun, scary and positive. The scenes created were fun, but having big guys throw my 5 foot friend against a stage borders on abusive. Grateful for being pulled out of foam pit by big guy, That was the only good part.

Don’t believe any of the bogus reviews on here claiming that this place was horrible, should be shut down immediately, disgustingly dirty, etc etc. This place was AWESOME.
The wait in line really wasn’t bad, it was probably only 15 minutes or so. Entering the haunt, my friends and I were already terrified. From beginning to end we were completely freaked out. The actors were great, no one was overly aggressive, no one was harassed or groped. While it is true that I saw a few people come out of the maze limping, that’s just part of the full contact, which truly does make the whole experience MUCH more thrilling than a non-​contact haunted house.
Two actors tried picking me up and putting me in a freezer but I refused and got away eventually, and another actor tried holding me back and keeping me away from my group of friends. A friend of mine was thrown up against a mattress as well as trapped between two of the actors at one point in a small doorway. There was plenty of contact, but nothing inappropriate.
I recommend visiting the House of Shadows 100% as long as you are NOT afraid to get touched. It truly scared the hell out of me like no haunted house has ever done before.

LOVE LOVE LOVED this place!!! I’ve never been to a haunted house that actually kept my heart rate up the ENTIRE time!!! Definitely check it out– it’s not as violent as some of the reviews here say. They do jump out and touch you, but you don’t get pushed around and they don’t scream cuss words in your face– I think some of these reviews are from some very BORED individuals. All that stuff about being thrown around is BS– don’t miss out on this place, I’ll definitely be back next year, I can’t wait!!!

Okay, so I came here expecting a little bit more roughhousing then actually happened. The most I got was a chainsaw to the bum. The props and set was really nice, and I like the maze feel about it. I kept going and going, I kept thinking that we were at the end but there was another creepy hallway. The actors are fun, but like I said there wasn’t enough physical contact. I was expecting hair pulling shoving, bruises, nope. The most it happened is I had to physically climb into a freezer myself. I’m sure that if I continue to refuse, someone would’ve sucked me in there anyways.
I’d like to go back on the weekend, I bet they amp things up a bit.

I had an awesome time here! I’ll be honest, I’m boring and had never been to a haunted house before — this was a great experience and a lot of fun!
The actors were fantastic, and the props highly realistic! While it could have been a tad bit longer, the experience was amazing all the same! Definitely recommend going here! Well worth the drive to Gresham and the money spent!
I was a little disappointed, though. No one sexually assaulted or groped me as the prior reviews promised.

This place was RAD! The only thing they could do different is charge more and make it longer. From the front door to the end — they always had something to keep you on your toes. They yell, touch and do everything else to scare and freak you out. If you don’t like that, this haunted house is not for you.

I’ve been to dozens of haunted house attractions over the years, and this was by far the most rattling of any of them. I’ve been watching horror movies religiously since I was about nine, and have always loved anything macabre or frightening, but I’ve always been consistently let down by the haunted houses I’ve been to– they’re fun, sure, and the special effects and whatnot are neat, but I’ve never been quite scared enough for my liking.
House of Shadows gave me a run for my money. This place is old school. I stepped into it and it had an almost 1970s vibe, like back in the day when being grabbed and rattled was part of the haunted house experience. It is true: unlike every other haunt out there, House of Shadows actually permits its actors to make full bodily contact with you– which, for someone who doesn’t scare as easily as others, makes it a much more thrilling experience, but for others, may be a bit too close for comfort. Although it has some great gags and effects, House of Shadows relies much more on the interaction between the guests and the actors, and I loved it for that.
Now, as for the concern over the fact that the actors are allowed to touch you– yes, they WILL grab you. They will cuss in your face. They’ll scream at you. They will pin you against a wall and come at you revving a chainsaw. They may even pick you up and possibly put you in a large wooden crate. Will they hurt you? NO. It’s all part of the scare. It may be a bit aggressive, but the physical aspect of this attraction is what makes it stand out from the rest– it’s much more interactive, unlike other haunts where you are more of a spectator being jolted here and there.
There is a lengthy disclaimer that the staff make you read and agree to before going into House of Shadows, but there IS surveillance in the haunt. I do not believe it is dangerous or harmful in any way. It’s just very hands-​on.
I’m a 6’2″, 195lb male and I was literally PICKED UP off my feet, spun around, and shoved out the door at the end of the attraction during my second visit (I went two nights in a row with different friends), and I LOVED it. While we waited in line on the second visit, I saw a girl come stumbling out of the attraction and fall onto her knees. The security at the exit door grabbed her by the arm and asked her if she was alright, and she got up, hands in the air, and said «That is what I ******* paid for!». I had a similar sentiment.
House of Shadows is a sensory experience in a lot of ways, and the no-​holds-​barred attitude of the attraction really heightens the tension. It’s much more thrilling because you are cognizant of the fact that the monsters, killers, zombies and ghosts are going to make physical contact with you– and for people who require a certain level of interactivity to be frightened, this is almost necessary.
I got what I signed up for, and will most definitely be back next year wherever the location. I’d like to reiterate that I DID NOT feel personally threatened or abused during any of this on either visit. Although the actors are aggressive, they are not there to hurt you– they are merely there to grab you, scream at you, and rattle your cage. If you aren’t comfortable with being razzed a bit, nobody is forcing you to go in. If you can deal with a little bit of horseplay, you’ve got nothing to worry about.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! One of the entertainers full on picked me up and groped my chest area very aggressively! I’ve written a letter to the owners! My lawyer will be involved! Please save your gas and your $ 20 and do not go here or let your children go here! Very abrasive language they use it’s more disgusting and inappropriate rather than scary!

I’ve been to a lot of haunted houses and have become a bit of a haunted house snob… There just isn’t much that scares me and I find many of them to be cheesy and cater too much to kids. This is the best one I’ve been to in a long time. It brought back the memories of haunted houses I used to go to when I was younger; where the people can actually grab you and get in your face. We all thought it was very well done and had lots of good quality props and scares. I also really liked that they only let small groups go through at a time. It always ruins it to be surrounded by 20 screaming teenagers. It was a more one on one haunt. Really my only complaint is that I wish it would have been longer, and seems a bit overpriced at $ 20. Also, be sure to bring cash. They don’t take credit/​debit.
