This was literally the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. The Tacos al Carbon were crazy delicious, the tacos are lightly fried so that they’re slightly crispy. I’m a little depressed that I don’t live in Portland to eat them all the time #cries

Sopes always consistent and delicious, they have absolutley no problem not deep frying them. They are on the smaller side so, 3 of them is fine if your hungry 4 if your really hungry. Beans, lettuce, tomato. Cheese and sour cream. I get mines with out the cheese and sour cream. They wont automatically add avocado you must request it. Depending on which lady is working the till; they might charge you $ .75 cents. Honestly some of the best sopes so far in the portland area.(Jarochita 5th and stark, is another place that qualifies) the pinto beans are done just right, the tortillas are freshly made(maseca). They have a salsa bar which is not huge but serves just fine, includes 4 salsas, sliced raddishes, lime wedges, dried mexican oregano and pan fried chilli de arbol. Rates very well for a self serve salsa bar. all the salsas are very good(the only one i havent tried is the green one, looks to over cooked) the other 3 red salsas are very good lots of hot kick as well as flavour. A good self serve salsa bar in any mexican restaurant is an instant star for me. The menu is not very extensive at tacos salsa. But dont let that keep you from experiencing the delicious food these ladies from Michocan make. The restaurant it self is small and very unpretencious(best places always are) can get a bit crowded at times so take away is a viable option. They make sopes and the tortillas fresh at the moment you order. This is great, they are not using factory made tortillas or sopes. These ladies know how to whip up some very delicious mexican food. Please smile and leave a tip, these ladies have always been very pleasant and attentive and just lovely. Car park is very small

Just average. Nothing special. Lengua tacos were way better then the asada burrito. Don’t have shredded beef. Brought out water for us and it was warm, like out of warm faucet. Kinda weird I thought. The lady who took the order was very nice.

The tacos are incredible! The carne asada was super tasty and the way they prepared the tortillas, with the slightest crunch, was perfect. Already dreaming about my next visit…

Very disappointed. Not sure where these other reviews are coming from. Food not good. No parking. I guess if you feel like going south of the border you would go there.

Best Tacos north of Los Angeles! Haven’t had tacos this good since I moved from LA back in September of 2014. Seattle needs to hurry up with tacos like this ! Homemade tortillas are just right !!

Truly one of the best Mexican joints in the Portland area — tacos are perfectly seasoned and well-marinated. Al pastor, carne asada, and pollo were all awesome. Tried the sopes and tostadas, both excellent. All prices are reasonable, will be back for the burritos and other things. Salsas were awesome and had the right amount of heat. Kind of a small, dingy place, but don’t let that deter you!

Great food. Ordered some tacos and rojas menudo, much better than anything I’ve ever had in Oregon. You have to be able to handle the sketchy neighborhood(tweakers everywhere and one came in to shoot up in the bathroom while we were there) but if you can the food is definitely worth it.

I’m always going around town looking for the best tacos and I found this one hiding by the 7⁄11 and this goes on my list of best tacos in town. It’s rare to find tender asada tacos and they might be the only ones in town that have fluffy corn tortillas. I recommend this place if you are in the area

I had tacos al pastor and they were fabulous. I will be returning to sample other menu items in the near future. I’m writing this with hesitation — tempted to keep the place a secret…

Agree with all positive reviews, delicious, authentic, ultra fresh and lots of flavor. Small authentic cozy taco joint feel. Will definitely be back!

I am so glad I discovered this gem! The food is delicious. The torta is, hands down, the best I have had. The outside of Taco Salsa can be deceiving… but the food will blow you away.

Tacos pastor had best flavor of any place around and the home made tortillas made it a great meal. I would have taken a picture but it smelled so good it was gone before I got my phone out. Not much parking but plenty of room inside and right by the ‘Max’ stop.

This place is amazing! Seriously the best Mexican food I’ve had north of southern Arizona. Their Rice and Beans are to die for. I’m wishing I lived closer cause I’m pretty sure I’d come every day for lunch if I could. Took my parents and they are now planning to bring the rest of the family. The menu is in Spanish but it’s really easy to figure out what you want. Plus it was really cheap. We fed 4 people to the brim with drinks and it was only 25 $. We were just there yesterday and I’m pretty sure were going back today.

This place is pretty dang good. Reminds me of places by where I grew up. Small, handwritten menu, soccer on tv and a jukebox. I ordered a bean rice and cheese burrito and a chicken taco, the burrito was huge and was real good for something so simple. The taco though, that’s why I’ll come back if I’m ever near here. Handmade tortillas. Really well flavored meat, the salsas taste fresh and there’s a good selection, and this place is CHEAP. Everything I got cost me 7 bucks without tip. Not bad.

I’m of the belief that little to no good Mexican food exists north of Santa Barbara. This is the exception. Not a huge fan of the chicken, but I do like the carne asada tacos and they’ll even make me vegetarian tacos when I don’t feel like eating meat. Their horchata isn’t overly sweet – just cinnamony enough. Their ceviche is mmmmmmmm! I love the family that owns it… so friendly and kind.

A bit off the beaten path, but then again — if you aren’t willing to make an effort, everything tends to seem not easily accessible and off the beaten path. If you, however, do make it all the way here, you’d find pretty darn awesome tacos and burritos(can’t vouch for anything else on the menu due to my lack of experience, but judging by those two choices, the rest should be of an equally thumbs-up kind too). The place is clean despite seemingly underpromising exterior, self-serve taco toppings bar is one of the better ones I’ve seen and if that is not encouraging enough, most(more like 100%) of the clientele apart from you on any given day here would be of Mexican descent and that is usually a pretty good indicator of quality in my [salsa-stained] book. Working class neighborhoods and good food are rarely mutually exclusive and this place exemplifies such mixture like very few others.

I love this place! It’s a small family restaurant — wonderful people and delicious«homemade» food! I know so many people who cry about the Portland area not having any«real» Mexican food — well hello, it’s in Rockwood — and this is the place to get it! You can order to-go as well, and there is a separate«toppings bar» so you can put whatever you want on your tacos(they are prepared just as the meat on the tortilla). If you want that delicious pickled carrot & onion topping, you can find it here!(…and HORCHATA!) Yum!
