Glendale Towing

The other review for this place is on par with my experience.
My car wouldn’t start the other night around 1 am and after calling multiple companies, Glendale Towing was the only one close enough to me that would answer their phone. A man answered and it sounded like he was inside a bathroom or something. I could barely understand him, but I told him about my situation and he quoted me $ 89 for the service call and said a tow truck would be there in 40 minutes. I had a bad vibe but figured what else could be done?
An hour later, he finally arrives in a truck that says «Katalans Towing». Not a single word is spoken to my friend or me. No «hello» no handshake– just «Which one is your car?» I point to it and he gets to work. My friend tries talking to him but all he does is stare at us and continues to work. Rude much? But whatever– he’s doing his job. So we let him be. He tries to jumpstart it, but the car still wouldn’t turn on. Maybe the car is out of gas? So he tells us to hop in his car and he drives us to the nearest Arco (literally a 30 second walk from my car). Tells me «Go put $ 20 on #1». I do what he says and he puts gas into his portable tank. We then get back to my car and he puts in the gas. Car still doesn’t start. Tells us he thinks it’s the fuel pump and says «Okay well you guys owe me $ 90». We’re still totally fine at this point. He came out and did his job. Rudely, but did his job.
I hand him my card and he does his thing. When he prints out the receipt, he tell me to sign it. As I’m signing it, he covers amount. After I sign, he lifts his hand to reveal a price of $ 131. I asked him why and he said «I took you to the gas station. You don’t think I deserve it?» We were completely outraged. If he had just been upfront and honest about it, we would have been fine about the extra $ 40. But he LIED and covered the amount which constitutes fraud. A chargeback has already been placed for the extra $ 40.
TLDR: DON’T USE THIS COMPANY OR KATALANS TOWING.

Do not use this company. Drivers who come to you are independent contractors — they will not be upfront about charges (that are VASTLY DIFFERENT from what is quoted by the dispatcher when you call. These are not local drivers… from Glendale. I was charged 3 x what was quoted and told that if I didn’t pay the $ 300 bill in cash, I would be charged an additional 3%! Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
