Dr. Akinde is a wonderful pediatrician. He takes excellent care of my two special needs kids, showing a level of incredible patience and creativity with my non-​verbal 13 year old old.

I really cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Akinde! He has been my son’s doctor since he was born, and has taken great care of our family. I was induced 3 ½ weeks early, and finding a pediatrician was one of the last things I needed to do before giving birth. It was such a blessing that Dr. Akinde was the pediatrician on call the morning after my son was born.
From the moment you walk into the office, you can tell how deeply both Karen and Dr. Akinde care for each patient. Unbelievable that he is literally the only doctor I’ve been to in my lifetime that I feel completely heard and not just blown off to hurry and get to the next appointment. As a mom, you want to feel secure in the people around your child and with Glencoe Pediatrics you will most definitely get that type of care.

We started going to Glencoe Pediatrics when Dr. Karen Knight was the only doctor. Dr. Akinde was a great addition, he had the same great insight and manner with the children. Dr. Akinde took over the practice and we had absolutely no problem with this transition.
Three locations later and my children still LOVE Dr. Akinde. They LOVE going to see him all these years later. As a single mother– I have always felt respected and involved on all the issues the children went through and never felt like I was talked down to.
Dr. Akinde answers all questions with the utmost respect, kindness and understanding. I still have first time mom questions and no question is ever received with anything but complete helpfulness. Dr. Akinde makes you feel like he has all the time in the world to spend with you. He takes on sensitive issues with great ease.
I highly recommend Dr. Akinde! and Karen is great too! Always a call back or answer very quickly!

I’ve been taking my kids to Dr. Akinde for over a year now. They love him. He is very knowledgeable and even diagnosed my daughter with something that three previous doctors completely missed. I recommend to all my friends with kids.

Already stressed with a severely sick child who was getting progressively worse, I was left in tears by the time I left this doctor’s office at a follow up visit. This doctor treated me in an unimaginable manner. He became angry and agitated with me for the mere reason that I took my son to the ER at Children’s Memorial Hospital instead of waiting out what he thought and (mis)diagnosed to be a typical viral infection that just needed to run it’s course. As it turned out, my son did indeed have something that was very serious, a staph bacterial infection (possible MRSA) in his blood and bone (osteomyelitis) that required immediate and aggressive treatment and also hospital admission. So it was actually a very good thing that I didn’t do what this Dr. Akinde continually requested and that I did bring my son to the ER. But it was not until way after Dr. Akinde became extremely agitated and unprofessional with me in his office that I knew I had done the best thing for my son by bringing him in to the ER. But this Dr, Akinde went totally off on me for doing that. He explained in a heated enraged manner, over and over again, how he was offended that I went to seek further medical attention at the hospital which he said undermined his medical authority over my son. I was in shock at how he seemed more concerned with his own ego rather than what was in my son’s best interest at the time. He was unbelievably arrogant and his bedside manners were unbelievably awful! He practically called me a liar when I tried to very honestly communicate what the ER did and said regarding my son. He also said that my son was even possibly pretending to have symptoms and said several times, in my 10 year old son’s presence, that my son needed a possible psychological evaluation. This doctor yelled at me that by taking him to the ER I put my son through too much unnecessary tests (the one included that showed this serious bacteria in the blood) and then to top it all off suggested to resign as our pediatrician (which of course was unnecessary at that point for obvious reasons). I literally broke down in tears by the time I was able to escape out of his office. This man can put on all the charm and dupe all these nice north shore families at what a charming, articulate and informative doctor he is, just as I fell for it. But please beware of doctors such as this guy who have a solo practice and who do not work in groups or in larger medical practices with other doctors. And by all means beware of doctors who feel threatened when you seek further medical advice and information such as this doctor does. He not only loses his temper and has terrible bedside manners (the worst I have ever seen), but he also would not listen to my own motherly concerns and observations over my son’s progressively worsening condition and when my son needed serious further medical attention. Doesn’t this doctor know that educated and informed people of the north shore expect, without question, to be heard and take part in their own health care, doctor/​patient relationships and that we have zero tolerance for any health care practitioner to become so emotionally agitated and unstable no matter what the situation? This doctor has yet a lot to be learned if he is going to have a successful practice in Glencoe. This was truly an experience I wish on no one!

Dr. Kudus Akinde is by far THE BEST DOCTOR I met. I have 3 kids and moved 4 times, so I had my share of pediatricians.
He’s well knowledgeable with the most up to date medical research and not quick to write a prescription, which is hard to find. He offers holistic advice with a balance of necessary medical treatment as well.
He’s great with all 3 of my kids and they are always excited to go see him. He’s always on time and I can get my kids in the same day. He’s known for his bird chirping sound he makes when he checks the kids’ ears. Everyone loves it!
For anyone wanting to switch to a new doctor or new to the area, I highly recommend him. He’s everything a parent and child wish in their pediatrician.
