Mazda of Gladstone

This was honestly the best car buying experience I have ever had. Bob Greig was the salesman I worked with. He was spectacularly funny, very personable and knowledgeable. The test drive was so much fun! I don’t have the best credit, had a trade in that was literally falling apart, and I was worried about having a car payment for the first time in years. They worked so hard on getting me a much lower interest rate and a lot more money for my trade than I had ever expected. There was no pressure to buy but with the unbelievable price they put together for me how could I not?!? I am so happy with my brand new car and highly recommend Bob Greig and Mazda of Gladstone. They have a customer for life with me.

If you are in the market for a Mazda I suggest you give Lynn Sanchez and her colleagues (Charity, and Seth) your first shot on an internet/​fleet deal. I was cross shopping a CX-​5 and another vehicle and Lynn was amazingly patient and responsive while we were trying to make up our minds. She responds quickly to emails and phone calls and makes a big effort to be available. I hope she’s also forgiving for the day we finally made our purchase as I was unable to meet her and return her call due to circumstance.
We did not end up buying the CX-​5 which was really surprisingly considering we have a CX-​9 (and have owned a Miata and 3S Hatchback). Our needs just evolved during the shopping process when we realized we needed something with true 4×4 functionality (locking diffs, hill descent control, more ground clearance, etc) for where we live.
Car buying has changed with the internet leveling the field for buyers. Research your needs, the car you want, and prices at more than one dealer before making a decision. I did just this, contacting pretty much every Mazda dealer in the state of Oregon. Gladstone was not the only one that was nice and up front, but Lynn was certainly the one that worked the hardest to try to earn our business. My wife is already jonesing for that 2017 CX-​9. When we get to the point of being in the market again, I hope we can still find Lynn at Gladstone.

Great Service from the whole staff.

I recently visited the Mazda of Gladstone to look into leasing a vehicle. I did not expect to lease a vehicle that night but they also purchased my former vehicle from me as well. I really was not open to a trade-​in or buy out unless I was going to get a great deal. They gave me a really good deal for my former vehicle and hooked me up on a fair lease price.
The sales process was great but there was some confusion once I got to finance around the deal. From the time I walked out with my new car and waited for payment of my old car, I had a very frustrating experience in terms of communication with finance.
However, they did right by the deal and made sure that we close everything the way I was promised in the sale. I very much appreciated the positive close loop approach and I can honestly recommend them for anyone looking to purchase a great, affordable new Mazda. Chad the New Car Manager was fabulous to work with (thanks Chad)!!!

Great customer service!
I live in Seattle but was down in Portland area visiting my sister and came here to test drive the Mazda3. The test drive was amazing. They had me take it up hills and on a freeway and didn’t rush me. I was torn between a Mazda3 and a Toyota Corolla. They offered to bring the Corolla from next door with one of their sales people so I could compare them side by side. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of time so I ended up buying a Mazda3 up in the Seattle area. But I had a great experience here and highly recommend if you are considering a Mazda to come in here and check it out!

What a waste of time. I had a friend go to this dealer to make sure the car was what I wanted and talk to a salesman. The salesman, a manager, assured him we could work a deal when I came there. I drove 6 hours only to be greeted with a firm stand on an outrageous price. The asking price was atleast $ 2000 over true market value. They tried telling me that they over paid on the it as a trade-​in and apparently thought I should pay extra for their mistake… fat chance! They wouldn’t budge a dollar!
Never again…

Awful experience, and i wasn’t even the one purchasing a vehicle. I went and looked at and test drove a vehicle for a friend that lived several hours out of town. Car was good, and the salesmen assured me that if he made the drive they would be willing to negotiate a fair price.
Well that friend of mine made the 5 – 6 hour trek, and rented a one way vehicle that weekend to do so. When we get there, they talked a bunch of used car salesmen BS, and didn’t budge on the price, not even $ 1.00, even after assuring me they would negotiate. The car was several thousand above true market value, no way he was going to pay there price. I think they thought since he was driving so far out of town, he would pay whatever price they were asking. They have been sitting on the car for 4 months, i guess there waiting for that sucker that will give them there ridiculous asking price.
Never again will i ever recommend this dealership to any of my friends.

I HATE buying cars. Hate actually isn’t even a strong enough word. Detest. Abhor. Loathe. The whole experience is totally painful, annoying, and exhausting. So when my old lady Buick was recently totaled in an unfortunate rear-​ending demise, I knew I had to put my big girl panties on, tuck my ribbons under my helmet and go into battle for a new-​to-​us vehicle. I did all my research ahead of time, which I highly recommend. I got my financing beforehand. I knew what was in my budget. I honed in on one vehicle that suited my needs, called Mazda of Gladstone and set up the appointed time to meet on the battlefield. Julio was a worthy opponent. But he had chinks in his armor. Chinks like «I have a family to support» when he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. *sigh* I did my utmost to stick to my guns, which were locked and loaded. I ended up with some war wounds and ended up shelling out $ 400 more than I wanted, but was feeling not too bloody after the exchange. Other annoyances included a promised detailing of the car, which didn’t happen as the seats are still dirty and there’s still some stuff that needs to be vacuumed out of the back of my not-​minivan-​type-​wagon-​thing. But I did get a full tank of gas, a good warranty and hopefully a car that will be shuttling my infant superspawn until he’s in high school. Overall, it didn’t come down to hand-​to-​hand combat so I guess I’m grateful.

My husband and I visited here once months ago. Drove two cars and told them we didn’t like either. Now every time they get a new salesperson we seem to get an email asking if we’re still interested buying the car. I’ve politely told them no and remove me from their contact list. Politeness hasn’t worked. The last lady even said if you think I’m persistent now just wait until you buy a car! Like this is a fabulous customer service tactic. Leave me alone! Even if I did decide to buy a Mazda I will never go to this dealership again.

While we didn’t end up buying a car from Mazda of Gladstone we found our experience with Julio Ovalle outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and patient and we were delighted to have had him assisting us. Thanks Julio!

Very helpful and not pushy — always appreciated. Almost as much as I apreciagte my new Mazda 3!

Exceeded our Expectations!
We started searching for a new 2014 Mazda Miata MX-​5 Grand Touring car. My Wife wanted in Red. I wanted it fully loaded! We started searching on
for the fair market value. After putting in our info, we were contacted via email from local Mazda dealerships. Two of the three dealerships didn’t have the exact one with our specifications. One did! Gladstone Mazda. Lynn emailed us a quote that was below Edmunds fair market value. The next day, we took the day off work and drove 90 miles to the dealership. We met up with Lynn. We went out to the car. Lynn showed us some features of the car. I went on a test drive than my Wife did. Before we left on the test drive, the car had 4 miles on the OD. We went in and finalized the deal. Quoted price from the email. No BS no hassle. Jeremy went through the finance stuff with us. He did try to up-​sell maintenance plans (doing his job) we declined. The car was detailed, full tank of gas and pulled into the show room with a big bow on it :)
The buying experience exceeded all our expectations! I would HIGHLY recommend Gladstone Mazda and Lynn for your next car buy.

Beware! Marty is the slimiest sales manager I’ve ever had the displeasure of talking with. I was trying to help my in laws buy a car there. He was a quick talking liar who took advantage of my in laws’ good nature. I spoke with him on the phone during the dealing process. Then he turned around and lied to them, telling them I had said something else about the deal, making them think it was a good deal, when in fact, they bought it for full MSRP and lead them to believe they were getting an awesome deal because of the special interest rate offered through Mazda credit, which they could have gotten from ANY Mazda dealership! I called and confronted him about his tactics & lies, and he was a total jerk about it and hung up on me. DO NOT buy a car from Mazda of Gladstone! You will have a terrible experience there!

I love Mazdas. Love them. and I bought a fabulous Mazda 3, but NOT from this place. I had an accident and was still in pain, but had to look for a car in a week. There were nothing but young kids there trying to sell cars. They had no idea how to sell a car… they just aren’t seasoned enough. When I ask to see a certain car, show me the damn car! Don’t try to sell me a Nissan or something else. You got so distracted then I never got to look at what I wanted. I was in pain and even got to the point of crying and wanted to leave, but you sat me down and probed me still for more information. Where was the respect!!! People come first, not cars! Listening, customer service, paying attention to nonverbal communication, and the needs of the client should be first and foremost. I know you guys play games, but your sales reps were the worst. I responded much better to seasoned professionals who knew not to BS me and that I was in pain and who didn’t pressure me. I so wanted to give this place a chance. All I wanted to do was leave though. Someone did call me back, and honestly he was one of the more decent guys there, but I was way too angry by that point.

Erika, the internet sales rep, was lovely… and it quickly slides down from there.
Marty is a well-​intentioned, sell-​you-​everything-​he-​can, middleman-​nincompoop. He doesn’t know when to surrender to a customer who isn’t going to smile and nod and sign everything that’s put in front of them… which we are. We came in knowing exactly what we wanted, exactly what we didn’t want, and exactly how it was going to go down, and he wasn’t having it. This conflict of interest made for the most horrifying car buying experience I have ever had the pleasure of sitting through. He starts by telling us «we sold your car over the weekend, but we’ll get you this other one». Not the best way to put that, Marty… it got much worse from there.
I cried twice. Erika was embarrassed and apologetic and did her best to try and smooth things over at the end. We got the car, for an amazing deal, but had to fight tooth and nail through every step. We will not be going back, but if you are the type who doesn’t mind playing their little game and sacrificing some to keep everyone smiling, they’re about as good as any other dealership there is. Kathy, many people that talking about is not actually a good person. She judge people’s appearance. I come to the appointment half hour early and she just hand over me to a new salesperson who doesn’t know anything. She never come back to me and seems like she know I not gonna buy. Bad experience in this dealership.

I’ve been shopping around for a Mazda 6 for weeks, checking out multiple dealerships and their prices/​deals/​etc. A couple were semi-​responsive but dropped the ball a few times and didn’t seem interested in my trade-​in, which was a must for me. Kathy at Mazda of Gladstone was very helpful, persistant in making sure I had all the information I needed, and even making sure I got the best price. The actual buying experience (with Kathy) when I went into the dealership was the best I’ve had when dealing with a car salesperson (and any salesperson in general)! She made me feel welcome, comfortable with the shopping experience, and even gave excellant customer service after I purchased the car — something other salespeople would not do once they made the sale. Overall, it was a great place to buy my car!

By far the best dealership I have have ever dealt with. Professional, patient and not pushy at all. The sales and management staff were obliging and respectful and at no time made us feel pressured to make decisions.
I have never enjoyed working with car dealerships, but found this group to be different. I got a great deal and feel very satisfied I was treated fairly and not ripped off in any way.
The staff and service folks we’re pleasant and very easy to work with and cannot recommend this group any more highly.
