Kramer Vineyards

We stopped in for wine tasting on Thanksgiving weekend and all very much loved the sparkling wine. The rest of the wine was good as well but wasn’t as outstanding as their sparkling was.

Great wine and a nice setting. Good pours and pleasant conversation with whoever is pouring. We love it here. Stopped other wine clubs so we could join this one.

Shantel at Kramer is the 8^th wonder of the world! She was so fantastic and welcoming! She knew all there was to know about the wines and the winemakers. She’s been in the wine industry and has a wonderful appreciation for the process and was incredibly helpful and thoughtful. We had our first barrel tasting ever and were so happy to share it with her! We also met with Kimberly (daughter of the original owners) who was so cordial and welcoming with her knowledge and love and appreciation of truly fine wine! We had the most pleasant experience here and highly recommend you to come by and stay for tastings and the magnificent view from the property!

Not only does it share a great name with this reviewer but has a great selection of wines in a beautiful atmosphere. Some of my favorites have to include the Pinot noir estate and the sparkling muller. Good selection of food as we’ll!

What an amazing wine tasting! Kramer was by far my favorite of the day! The staff was amazing Cosmo the winery dog included. Lauren was so funny our faces hurt for the rest of the day from laughing. Plus if you get a chance to try their barbera it’s terribly impressive! If your a unicorn your going to love this place.

Went here a few weeks ago and had one of the best wine tastings I’ve ever had. The sparkling wine was so good, I had 6 shipped back to the east coast. Shantel did our tasting and was very personable and accommodating. What really impressed me was that when I got back and received my shipment, there was a handwritten note from Shantel, wishing me a great rest of my trip and thanking me for visiting the winery. Great wine, great people, great place!

I’m long delinquent in writing this… I’ve been drinking Keith’s wines for many a year. Now that Kim has joined her father, the wines have both a new voice and the harmonies are outstanding!
I’m with Bronwyn E. in feeling that Kramer is truly one of the best wineries around. The wines are outstanding and greater every year. I was most recently at the 2014 Heritage vertical tasting last weekend (11÷1÷2014) and it was another exceptional event. Tasting the wines from 2006 – 2014 was an eye opening walk through the terroir of Kramer’s best wine. The differences reflected the climate changes, the deft hand of the winemaker, and really showed a lot for those interested in learning about wines over time.
The thing about Kramer’s wines are that they take the perspective of both trying new things but also respecting how each year’s grapes arrive at crush. You can taste the cold years, the warm years, the lean and the rich years. What made the event, though, was talking to Keith and Kim as they curated the wines across the years. There is so much love put into the wine that you can hardly miss it. The family has done great things.
I have a significant love of small, family-​run wineries and now that there’s a second generation making wine, I know that Kramer will certainly outlast me! I am a member of Kramer’s Cellar Door Wine club and I cannot imagine anything short of financial issues ever dropping this membership. You should do yourself a favor and take the time to visit on your next wine tasting! Oh, and if you should visit on a day that neither Keith nor Kim are around, Shantel or her staff will lead you through an great wine journey! It’s only a 23 until the next big event, Thanksgiving, and Kramer does it right!

Hands down one of the best wineries in the Portland area. Such a delight. It is crush right now, so we had an opportunity in seeing the wine being crushed and fermented into barrels. We ordered the Cheve and jam with crackers to compliment our wine. It is $ 9, but the serving is massive and is a great thing to order for 2 – 4 people. It tasted amazing. Prices are reasonable, and their wine is fantastic. I love their dessert wines. Always is a s good as it can get. Don’t forget to pet Cosmos, the wine dog while you take in the winery and vineyard. Paradise found!

Kramer has a great patio and is such a great space to enjoy a summer day! The indoor tasting room has a nice ambiance. they do offer a fair amount of food items as well which is nice. Great space for special events when they have live music. However, we weren’t super excited about the wines here. The one wine that did stand out was the Muller Thurgau Estate they also offer it as a sparkling wine.

Just the drive to this vineyard will relax you and get you ready to kick back with the fine scenery of hills full of jazz music even. I am more fond of the smaller intimate wineries and this is a fine one. They’ve got their dogs running free as well and they seem to be very comfortable in their environment.
Got a wine tasting of about 9 different wines and enjoyed the Pinot the best. This winery has been here for 30 some odd years and one of their pinots reflect that by the old grapes. They also have some very nice bubbly too which is very refreshing this time of year.
They don’t always have jazz so if you like that combination give them a call to see who’s playing.

Visited again in 2014, as good as we remembered. Left with 2 cases of wine. One of our favorites.

The Brut is AMAZING. I’m really loving what winemaker Kim Kramer is doing with their sparkling selections, which include a Sparkling Rose, Sparkling Müller Thurgau, Sparkling Pinot Gris and the méthode traditionelle Brut.
Super-​friendly staff and their new Carlton tasting room is a delightful find!

Nice, little boutique winery up in Yamhill hills. We were able to meet the winemaker and talk with her. She is a second generation winemaker. Must try the Muller Thurgau Fantastic and great value as well!

Kramer Vineyards was recommended to me by someone at a different winery, and I am very pleased to have gone to Kramer. I enjoyed the tastings and loved their sparkling wine — Muller Thurgau. I bought a bottle, and when I opened it at home, I enjoyed it enough to serve it at Thanksgiving. My 10 guests drank it like water, it was that good. On Thanksgiving wine weekend, I had to go back to Kramer and buy some more of it. Very easy to drink, especially if you like a somewhat sweet sparkling wine.

They had a special while we were there — buy one case of ’07, get one for $ 7 during the month of July — hell yes! And the wines are very reasonable priced — little less expensive than other wineries in the area!
So we had some more tastes of the ‘07s — and supposedly it’s an off year, but it was still very tasty. We had one bottle before leaving OR and it was better than what we had tasted in the tasting room, so definitely looking forward to getting the next case and trying those out!

I went with a large group of friends to several wineries and this was one of the friendliest and most accommodating by far. Their wines were delicious, their knowledge about win and ability to talk about each pour was fun to listen to, and they did everything they could to make sure that everyone was included in the tastings and were enjoying themselves.
They make some amazing wines and I was so glad to have been able to go. It was a little off my radar and luckily a friend knew just how great it really was. So worth a visit!

Kramer is great!
The two ladies in the tasting room were very sweet and patient and led us through the flight of the month. We bought two bottles of wine, and two cups of their on site roasted coffee.
The two dogs on location are really cute too. The outside patio area has a great view.
We will be back!

Kramer Vineyards is a small family run winery just outside the heart of downtown Gaston. The Kramer family is very friendly and eager to introduce you to their history. The winery which was founded in the early 1980’s is easily recognized by their beloved wine dog depicted on the label. They’ve even named a few of their lots after the two daughters whom help run the winery. Kramer produces many types of wine but is most known for their Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Muller Thurgau production. Although not a sparkling fan I enjoyed their Brut which was a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Surprisingly the Pinot’s character came through stronger than the Chardonnay offering strawberry and sour cherry fruits while finishing crisp with a light zest. They have chosen to make their Muller an off-​dry style, yet it retains a floral nose with a slight sweetness from its residual sugar before the finish.
As for the reds, in my opinion their Estate Pinots were thin, overly oaked, and have too subtle fruit variations verses tannin structure. Ultimately this washed out the flavor leaving a flabby finish with more to be desired. Pricing ranges from $ 20 — $ 38 for wines that I feel are less approachable and overall inflated when compared to other offerings in the valley. They also released a Walla Walla Valley sourced Barbera and have a ruby style Pinot Port. The Barbera was big with substantial flavor but to me had a slight metallic aftertaste. While the port was lighter than I like it still had a nice complex fruit profile without all the alcohol but again overpriced. Still I recommend you visit Kramer and decide for yourself, because regardless you’ll be welcomed to enjoy the views and taste a broad spectrum of wines.

Very cute little winery and gift shop. We started of with a brut, méthode champenoise that was nice. The other whites for me fell quite flat and her pours were rather miserly. It is really hard to form an opinion with such a small taste. Lucky for me my girlfriend gave me hers ;) The reds were not that impressive either, still too young tasting. And hmmm… we didn’t get to keep our glasses like another review says that they got to keep theirs. The «Big Red» was the best of the bunch but at $ 30.00 a bottle, take your money to Trader Joes and spend $ 5.00 and get something better.

A few years ago, a good friend came to visit for Memorial Day weekend and we went wine tasting. Our best experience of the day, by far, was at Kramer. It was also our last stop of the day, mainly because we didn’t want to ever leave!
We were greeted warmly by the Kramer family, who own the vineyard and make the wine. The tasting was less expensive than others we’d been to, covered a wide range of their wines, and included a glass to keep (I think they may have had a special deal going for the holiday weekend). They also had a delicious spread of foods to compliment the wines.
While I think it was obvious that we were not big-​time wine collectors who were going to buy cases, they were incredibly friendly, gracious and welcoming. They talked to us in depth about their wines and the history of their vineyard. In contrast to the aloof, snooty atmosphere that can prevail at some wineries, these were genuine people who were thrilled to share their pride in their work with two relative oeno-​greenhorns.
Since it was Memorial weekend, the big tasting-​palooza that goes on through wine country was in full swing. In keeping wiht this, Kramer had a local crafts fair going at their tasting, and I got several amazing items for just a few bucks. This included a hand-​sculpted vase of a nude woman’s torso that has been coveted by many friends since, and I am pretty sure was $ 2!
As the afternoon went on and the tasting wrapped up, our new pals the Kramers invited us to stay on a bit longer and taste some of their older and rarer vintages with them. This was such a fabulous treat, and a unique experience. I can only assume that we were being pretty amusing and/​or fun for them to keep us around with their family, staff, and friends — but either way, it was just awesome.
Kramer (and the Kramers) bring the wine realness. Go and see them, and bask in the sun-​drenched glory of their vino.
