Lifelong friends, Portland natives Carl and Eric founded the company together in 1998.

Prior to that Carl served in the Military and had a successful career in the wholesale glass industry. After College at Lewis & Clark, Eric started a career in remodeling and as a general contractor specialized in windows and doors.

Since the company’s formation in 1998 they have worked hard to develop Lifetime Windows and Doors into the company it is today — a well-​recognized leader in the industry. As building performance has become more scientific Carl and Eric have worked hard to keep up with the changing times to ensure that all employees and the company are prepared for the future in home improvement.

After starting the company in 1998 with just Carl and Eric and a small crew offering window replacements, Lifetime Windows and Doors now has a large team and offers complete exterior transformations through windows, doors, roofing and siding.

Business Owner

Carl is a 5th generation Oregonian. He was born and raised in Milwaukie. After attending Rex Putnam High School Carl proudly joined the USARMY during the first Gulf war and also served in the Oregon National Guard. Carl had a successful career in the Glass wholesale business in Oregon for six years prior to opening Lifetime Windows and Doors Inc. Carl served on the board of the Oregon Glass Association in 1997. Carl is an avid reader who enjoys traveling, camping, and hiking with his family which includes Cole, Hunter, Ella and his wife Feather. Carl also lives with his two dogs, Abby (Saluki), Leo (Doberman), and Oscar a tuxedo cat who lets them live at their home. Carl is also very active with the Oregon Shriners and is currently serving as the director for the state of Oregon. Carl is very proud of the business that he and Eric have built over the last 17 years and says he credits outstanding employees and exceptional customers.

I now have my Milgard French Doors. Prepainted black on exterior with untreated fir on interior so we can match stain to other interior doors. The doors have a three bolt locking system and double pane window. The doors open to the outside with a screen that moves easily if doors are left open.
With my husband’s impending retirement and long periods of time away from the home we were worried about security from our old doors. We replaced the kitchen door with double pane half panel window and a thicker door. We installed a Baldwin locking system. The garage door that connects to the kitchen by a breeze way was fitted with a matching door. The installers from Lifetime suggested lifting the kitchen door so a entry rug would slide under the door. We are so glad we took Joe H suggestion to install the matching garage entry door as the two doors are not only beautiful but insure our safety for house and garage which houses my husband’s tools.
We plan to replace our front door and laundry room door this summer. Our home feels safe and feel this upgrade one of the best things we have done. Thanks Everyone at Lifetime and for Joe H who gave us confidence about our decision to make this change.

I thoroughly enjoyed planning my window replacement project with Joe. Several variables on my end created changes in the plan, but Joe made sure I got what I could for the loan I was approved for. In the end, I had about half of my windows (phase 1) replaced for a great price, and will absolutely use Lifetime Windows & Doors when I’m ready for phase 2! Additionally, the installation crew was wonderful — not leaving a trace, being kind and courteous & getting the job done efficiently. Plus, the finished products are spectacular! I would absolutely recommend these folks, and love that they offer products from a locally-​manufactured window company (Milgard).

Holy jeez am I impressed! I had an emergency situation pop up with regards to the siding on my new house, not only was Carl extremely prompt in responding to the msg I sent him… He did the impossible. Literally. He got someone to come out and look at the damage and give me a bid, in under 24 hours of initial contact. No other siding company or contractor would even consider speaking to me until next spring. These guys went above and beyond, and delivered an extremely fair bid on top of all their expediency and professionalism. I am so impressed. I’m now going to be contacting them again about new windows and doors for my new house. I’m excited to work with them!

Lisa did an excellent job as Project Manager, and was always available throughout the project, overseeing the entire project daily. I finally got my windows done, We were off to a very rocky start. The install guys were great. The windows are ok. Hopefully they will help with my heating bill. Still gets pretty warm from the sun. I do have to say I hate the locks that I was told were good. The windows slide but I have to force them closed to lock. I have a window that is hard to reason. I went from a sliding window to a single hung. Trying to lift a window from its corner does not work at all. And when the lock is in the center and un– reachable well the window is useless. I would recommend doing your own research on windows and for sure on locks. Go somewhere and try them out.

They took their time and explained some options pretty thoroughly. There is a big difference between how windows are installed that i never knew before this experience. I did get the feeling that I wasn’t seeing all options available but I completely love the final outcome.
We got 7 large windows, a sliding glass door and a beautiful front door for 9000.
The installers were the best part of the experience. Jesus and his team were prompt, careful and courteous.
The windows look amazing and we’re already noticing the energy savings.

So I just called them to find out about getting a window replaced. Was told that since it is only one window its not worth them sending someone out to do an estimate. Was very clear that since I only needed one window it isn’t worth their time. Maybe this is normal but my money is a green as the next guys, didn’t like being made to feel like I wasn’t good enough for them.

I had a very satisfactory experience with Eric and each of his employees. They installed milguards top line windows with interior wood trim and it all performs as expected and looks great. There were a number of small adjustments after completion and they were handled very quickly. They want satisfied customers and i could tell by how quickly they responded to my concerns. Thanks guys!

Very good experience. After an initial «miss» when I didn’t hear back from anyone after requesting an estimate online for a job to re-​roof our job, the owner immediately wrote back and not only apologized, but was gracious in how he did it (unlike some business owners on Unilocal), so much so that we gave them a second chance. They came over quickly and not only took measurements but also told us exactly what they’d do, what was optional, how long it’d take, etc. (You’d think that’d be normal for anyone but the prior company we called did none of that!). We hired them and they were able to do the job within a fair amount of time, and it looks very good. We also had them add a gutter to one side to collect rainwater (picture to come!) and those guys were in & out in under 20 minutes, it was awesome (they left a tool on the roof and never returned for it, otherwise it was immaculate).
Only reasons for not giving five stars:
* Communication was a bit jumbled — would like to talk to just one person the whole time but ended up talking to the owner, the sales rep, the scheduler, and two different people in the office to coordinate work and payment.
* Would have been nice if they put a plastic sheet or something over everything in the garage while they were doing the work. While they did a decent job of cleaning up what they could, I had to access my bike during the work and it was pretty coated. So just a suggestion for the future :)
* They did not cover up our plants at all on either side of the garage which was a surprise. They did a good job of avoiding them for the most part but it would have been a nice courtesy to cover these since a few nails and such were found in the plants and the ferns were a bit wonky afterwards.
Again, just ideas to make them even better, as we will definitely work with these folks again. :)

At first, I thought that I made a mistake in choosing Lifetime Windows and Doors, as the company I hired to replace 7 of my home’s existing windows. Especially, since the cost of their service was higher than competing bids (which is due to their workers being actual W2 employees of Lifetime, and not hired subcontractors who otherwise do not care about doing solid work). After the window installation, there were a few minor errors made, and I was feeling a bit let down by the promises of quality, made by the salesman for LW&Ds.
Well, long-​story short, AFTER signing off on the inspection paperwork, and AFTER having already payed for the work that was done, LW&Ds found out that I wasn’t happy with the job done, and that’s when Lifetime’s project manager, Lisa, came in to save the day! Even though the company was NOT legally obligated, in the least, to fix the problems, Lisa and her crew went the extra mile to to fix the mistakes, and they even threw in a few extras, to make up for the inconvenience!
All in all, I did get what I payed for; higher quality work, with quality customer service. I am happy with the work done on my home, and my brother, who used Lifetime’s services before I did, is happy with Lifetime’s work too! You can trust that you get what you pay for, with LW&Ds – a solid company that I would not hesitate to use again!

Lifetime installed six windows and a sliding door in our 1940s home.
This was one of the first major repairs we made as new homeowners, so we actually went out to their showroom to take a look at our options in person (which was very helpful — we’re kind of picky). We ended up choosing Milgard fiberglass windows — not cheap, but a good match for the lovely old (but broken) windows we were replacing.
Lifetime’s bid came in the lowest, and setting up financing with them through Wells Fargo was a breeze.
Installation was finished in just a day.
Customer service was great — our bathroom window didn’t quite match our specifications (for obscured glass), and Lifetime sent someone out within a week to replace the window pane, no complaining, no charge.

Excellent customer service, Mona and Ruth are lovely to talk to. Carl and Eric are the owners if you go into the office you get to meet them both and their pups. Otherwise you meet Eric in the house for a final measure, I like that these owners still work with the team. The installers are friendly and clean, do immaculate work. This company is very knowledgeable, friendly, clean, respectable and left me feeling confident in my new investment for my home.

I had a couple companies come for estimates for whole house window and door replacement.
Lifetime Windows and Doors were very professional from the start. The salesman was on time to the appointment and fully prepared with examples and brochures on all the products that they offer. He was great with my kids too. They wanted to «help» draw the pictures on the paperwork and the salesman was just going with it. Didn’t bother him at all. They helped us with getting financing through a third party lender and took care of all the paperwork.
The installation was fast and ahead of schedule. They estimated 3 full days and were done in just over 2. No mess and clean work. My heating bill dropped about 20% to boot. Thank you for your hard work and great job! Keep up the good work!
