Westway Auto Dismantling

I can’t say enough great things about Gary at Westway Auto Dismantling. I was looking for a 2006 Subaru Forester automatic transmission. Gary had 3 in stock and picked out the lowest mile and newest year that was compatible with my vehicle. His prices were very reasonable and he delivered it to my mechanic’s shop without additional charge. Great service and honest. He also provided me with a 90 days warranty on the transmission.

It’s been a long time coming to write this review, but procrastinating aside, Gary at Westway is fantastic. He works very hard to make sure you get what you need – parts, cars, technical questions, or even some welcome advice. I’ve had the pleasure to be a Westway customer on several occasions and every time I call, Gary remembers me right away. He has gone out of his way to mail me parts when I lived too far away and couldn’t rely on local part stores. I also like his philosophy of giving things another life. Yes, recycling is good, but why not repair and extend the life of something for a fraction of cost? Thanks Westway for going the extra mile.

Drove 3 hours for a transmission that they assured me they had. They did not very poor service.

What a nice dismantling yard!!! I’ve been to a lot of dismantling yards and junk yards in my day and Westway has definitely been the most pleasant. They have good stuff too!
Good items, great customer service, they take out the item for you, and help you get it into your car. Isn’t that amazing?
If you have something in particular you’re looking for, let the guys at Westway know and they’ll let you know if they found what you’re looking for!
I recently purchased some seats from them which were in great condition. They take cash and if you want to use credit you can paypal them so you have options there! Some places only take cash which can be difficult sometimes because then you have to find an atm, go there, come back but here you do not have to.
Check them out! Then you can go to Eatalian and have a meal since they’re down the street. Yum.

This review is long overdue, but waiting to write it has given me even more reasons to recommend Westway.
When my poor Nissan Altima came out on the wrong end of a rearender in May of 09, I was devastated. I turned to the internet to find the truck of my dreams, and was drawn inexorably towards the Chevy Blazer. Unfortunately, they stopped making them in 2006. Hmm. Craigslist turned up a few leads, but then I saw exactly what I wanted:
2004 Chevy Blazer ZR2, black.
Wow! But why is it so cheap? Seriously, it’s less than half the cost of comparable trucks. Oh, it’s a salvage. Um… hmm.
Thankfully, I decided to bite the bullet and called Westway. I spoke with Gary, whose father started the business back in 1952. He gave me all of the Blazer’s info and history, and mentioned that he had been preparing to give the truck to his son when his son decided he wanted a pickup instead. Ok, so that was good enough for me to decide on a test drive.
When I got to Westway, Gary and his whole staff were absolutely amazing to me and my 2 friends. The truck was gorgeous inside and out, and you couldn’t even tell it had been rebuilt. Westway is truly a bunch of pros. It handled like a dream, and Gary explained all of the details about how they salvaged it. He even went the extra mile and took the truck to my awesome mechanic in Glendale (it’s on his way home from work) and let my guy look at it.
My mechanic did some checking around, and said that not only did the truck look great, but that Westway has a very solid reputation in Los Angeles for being good to do business with. That was enough for me, so I bought the truck.
It’s now about a year and a half later, and I still adore the truck so much that I’m taking it to Australia with me! I also referred my now-​husband to Gary to buy a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, also rebuilt. We’ve had zero problems with either vehicle, and I’ll never buy new or from a dealer again. Well, at least not as long as Westway is in business!
