Took my truck In because I had a question about the linkage and talked to James he took my truck right in to his shop saved the linkage cable and charged less than I expected to pay cause he was able to save the linkage cable, awesome
James seems very knowledgeable in his business and is a stand up guy, highly recommend for all transmission problems.

This is my second visit to Trans 1 for a transmission issue. This time my 2004 Cadillac SRX was making a clanking noise when I shifted. I called James who helped me before. He was very friendly and helpful as my last visit. In fact he even remembered I brought in a 73 corvette the last time. I made an appointment for Saturday because he is very busy during the week. That is usually a good sign when a business is busy. When I got there he took my car right into the car lift as I waited in the visitor area. Within 10 minutes he called me in to show me the problem. He had diagnosed the problem and told me how this could be fixed. The estimated time to fix was 1.5 hours. This included having to run down to Penske Cadillac to pick up the part. He only used OEM parts not cheap parts. I went to McDonalds across the street to kill some time given it was not a long wait. I expected it would take the full time but within 1 hour I got a call it was ready. What a nice surprise. He showed me the fix while the car was on the car lift and had the mechanic shift so I could see the problem was resolved. I was a happy camper. When I went to pay the bill I was expecting the job to be around $ 250 since most repair places charge you by the repair job indicated in a book and not how long it takes. To my surprise the cost was half the price. My wife was even shocked at the cost. James charges how long they took to perform the job. I know I would be paying over $ 300 if I went to the dealership. Thanks again James for fixing another one of my cars and the shifting is once again quiet and smooth.

A Ripoff, James told me it would be $ 1200 to totally rebuilt my transmissio two day’s later he call me and said it’s going to be a added $ 700 totaling $ 1900 a bunch of BS, and on top of that he call me and said your truck is ready you can pick it up, when I get there i was ready to pay him and go, test the new Transmissio but he said by the way your engine has frozen, but I drove it in, the engine was working fine, he said he don’t know what happen and he could not tell me anything, he wanted to get paid and I was just on my own I asked him to please at lease tell me what is the problem, he said he don’t have any mechanic that could look at it, until I said lawsuit then he found a mechanic but it set at that shop for a week and half just with the hood open, he wanted me to commit to getting a new Engine for $ 5k before he do anything. So be careful

Honest, fairly priced, and they do good work. Took our Subaru in after finding a transmission leak when we picked up our car from the port following shipment. They got us in even though they were closing in an hour. He showed us where the trans was leaking, gave a quote, and completed the pan gasket, filter and fluid change in under 45 mins. We tested it out with 4000 miles of cross country driving over the last two weeks, smooth shifting and no leaks. Excellent work! Thanks James for your friendly service even in a bind.

My husband and I took our vehicle there several months back. We were having trouble with the transmission switching gears, so my husband started looking for places to take it. We came across trans1 being that it’s in our neighborhood and went by the reviews on here on Unilocal.From the experience that we’ve had with them and having seen the reviews, I would have to say that the reviews were misleading.
My husband has a bit of experience in automotive. When we took the car they asked to keep it there so they could inspect it and see what was going on. The guy that helped us said he would give us a call the next morning, but unfortunately two days later my husband was the one that had to call to see what was going on with our car. When we had called they didn’t even know what car we were talking about and put us on hold. After a few minutes on hold they finally realized what car we were talking about and started explaining what «supposedly» was wrong with the car. The job that they were trying to charge us for was at a rate of $ 1,700 for something my husband obviously knew wasn’t the problem. My husband said nevermind and that we would take the car back to a different location knowing that they were trying to make us spend money on something that had already been repaired. Right away the guy said if he could inspect the car one more time and would give us a call that same day. Again a few days later we had to wait before hearing anything from them.
When he did get in contact with us again, he said the part was going to be $ 90 and that they needed to drop the transmission in order to fix that part. Dropping the transmission alone was going to be $ 400. We had to wait a week for the part to come in because supposedly they were ordering from a top dealer. It took another week after that for us to finally get our car. Later on we found out that the «job» they did was never even done to our car, but we’ll come back to that in a bit. So after receiving the car and we got our bill we were billed $ 400 for transmission drop, $ 90 for the part, and charged for 5 quartz of transmission fluid and plus tax, which came out to a total amount that we never even agreed to. We were told that everything was going to come out to a total of $ 675 and they were trying to charge us for an extra hundred dollars more. When we brought that to their attention the guy was quick to try and defend it, but saw we knew what we were supposed to pay for, so he said that he guesses he will go by our word and charged us for what we had said.
After all that ordeal that we went through, a month after, there we were stuck on the freeway with a broken down car with the part that we had just fixed being the issue again. My husband gave them a call and told them what was happening. They tried giving us a run around about us needing to bring the car to them and that they wouldn’t supply a tow truck. When we mentioned our warranty that we had gotten for the part they ordered and the labor, they immediately started denying that we never had a warranty and that there was going to be rates for what was going to be done all over again. As soon as we got that service and realizing the scam that they were trying to do, we decided to take our car to a different place. When we took the car to the other place we ended up finding out that the part we ordered plus the labor would have only came out to $ 120, also that the transmission was never even dropped and the fluid that they supposedly put in was never even added. The part that they did put in was actually underneath the clutch pedal, which wouldn’t have even needed the transmission to be dropped in the first place. So there we were with $ 795 less in our pocket because of the scam they pulled on us. I would never recommend this place to anyone! Horrible customer service and horrible mechanical skills. They will lie as much as possible to see how much money they can rip out of your pockets! Stay away from this place and take your car elsewhere!

Sighs* okay, so after having my car for literally a year and 4 months. My car broke down… Super horrendous. So this is what happened: The car stopped moving on the freeway, but the engine was still on. Not a good sign. Of course this would happen, RIGHT after the warranty is expired. :/​My warranty was for a year or 12,000 miles whichever one came first. I was nowhere near 12,000 miles but I passed the year mark by 4 months. What a freakin’ coincidence. Ugh, Such a bummer. I paid almost 3 grand to get it fix last year in March. Anyways, my car was towed from the power plants (boobie-​looking-​thingies) off the 5 to San Diego where my parents live. They had the car checked out by my neighbor who happens to be a mechanic and they told my parents whoever worked on the car, did NOT do a good job at all. The transmission totally blew out and was dunzo.Finished. Sighs* I have to update my previous comment because, welp, my car is not good at all and I spent a very very pretty penny on getting it fixed. I wish I wouldve had a second opinion and had quality work being done on my car. RIP Pearly (my car’s name).

Friend recommended Trans 1 after I noticed gear slippage in reverse and never even had a service in 65K miles on 1999 Toyota Avalon. Fearing for the worst in time, money, and peace of mind, I made an appointment. It was done on time and a simple service was all that was required. No additional upsell or phantom issues presented. One happy camper here! James was delightful to deal with even thought they were extremely busy. Only issue I had was no waiting area except the parking lot next to a very busy intersection with exhaust fumes to brighten the day… Still High Recommend!

Went to the location not knowing what to expect.
After, visiting several places.
James was very straight forward on the diagnosis no BS. Transmission wasn’t an issue. He offered great customer service, prices were great compare to other shops. He offer to follow up in a week just to make sure everything goes well. I would recommend him to anyone. They ROCK. :) amazing experience! !!!

My brother called here twice they said they would call back. His clutch went out. After a week he went and got it fixed. No one ever called us back.

The service and the work were equally sad, what a ripoff artist. By all means do your homework

The service here is amazing. I we too a few transmission shops and met some pretty shady characters that I wasn’t comfortable leaving my car with but after meeting Jason here I knew this was the spot. Super friendly and honest, Jason set my mind at ease about the work that he was going to do and how much it would cost me. I got my car back and everything is working great. The price was fair and he even gave me a price break bc my car was dirty. Family owned business, great, friendly people and most importantly great work. I would recommend this place to anybody.

I want to given this place a good review, not just the fair price but for the excellent customer service. James is the man. Checked for some transmission problem and they did find out that my transmission fluids were pretty burnt, so I gave them the go ahead to replace it all. I drove off the lot with still the same problem I originally came into for, but not sure if we had to go deeper into the transmission. No deposits no signs of cracking from what they can see. Took me through it step by step as far as they can go into looking at it without opening the tranny. Well if it’s persistent and I start to lose power, might have to come back and get the tranny fixed (if it is the tranny).

I am truly impressed with this place. My mother had taken her vehicle to another shop because of a leak it was having, where she was told she needed a new axel & transmission; you can imagine the pretty penny that was going to cost us. I called a few places to get quotes, when my coworker told me about the service here. James was great since the min he answered the phone– not pushy and genuinely cared. He gave me a quote, but suggested to take the vehicle in for a second option– which I am sooo glad I did. Turns out the car didn’t need a new transmission, the axel just needed to be repaired. Which saved us a lot of money!!! Instead of repairing the axel, he ended up putting a brand new one — and didn’t charge more than the original pricing! It’s been a couple weeks now & the car runs perfect. Thanks again James

James (service manager) is very professional and attentive. I will definitely go back when i do need transmission work! From the intial phone call i liked what he had to say. When i got there he checked out my car after having to push out another to get mine on the lift. I will tell a friend and more when they need transmission work.

It’s hard to find a trustworthy mechanic when your riding in a Benz. I’m never ashamed to ask for Unilocal so I did just that. I stumbled across trans 1 and James showed me love and kept it honest with me about my Benz. With that said, I’m a fan and you will be too…

First I would like to apologize to John and the team stTrans1 for taking a month to write this review. My daughter was having transmission problems with her VW Tourag. They examined the car and determined the transmission needed to be rebuilt. John worked with my daugbter and bent over backwards to make the financnig work. After the agreement he realized that this particular vehicle was going o require extensive work. John le called me and stated unless my daughter was going to keep the vehicle for at least two years it would not be worth her money to repair it. WOW, It is rare to find a businessman who values honesty and reputation above profits. I didn’t know these kind of guys still exist.

JAMES and TOM, tonight AT 5;50, the Saturn you just rerepaired, stopped in the middle of the street and went into reverse, nearly hitting the vehicle behind us, smelling as though it was burning up. I must have it towed to you tomorrow am or I will be cited for parking on street sweeper day.
