Smoking Pig BBQ

We met up with friends from Fremont and tried this BBQ place for the first time. We came for lunch on a Saturday, the restaurant was fairly empty and we were seated right away. Since it was not busy we were able to take our time with lunch and got caught up on with each other’s events.
The food was good. We each had the 2 meat combos for lunch.
We ordered and tried the following items:
* Pork Spareribs (it was tasty and you can add different sauce to it)
* Beef Brisket (like it)
* House Mac N’ Cheese (must-​have)
Overall: Good location if you are in Fremont and crave for BBQ.

Our server Marquees, he was so attentive and nice from the moment we walked in, he was on top of things and always made sure our glasses were full.
Food is okay…
Burnt ends: were pretty good but they had a lot of fat on them but then again it is a smoked fatty brisket
Nachos: we’re really good, liked all the toppings
Wolf turds: not so good, bacon is all fatty and cheese inside was not tasty at all, it was a crumbly weird tasting cheese
The live band was actually very good and entertaining! I think it was the «touch of class band» and it was awesome!
The décor and restaurant itself is very updated, much nicer than the one in San Jose, overall I would go back if the band were playing again but not to eat there.

We decided to hold my fiancé’s birthday celebration at the Smoking Pig in Fremont yesterday. We had the whole upstairs level for our group (30+ people). The service was Amazing and the food was delish (as always). The staff were great! Very helpful, personable and accomodating. Our guests were very pleased with the venue we chose to dine. We asked the staff ahead of time if it would be possible to have seperate tabs for everyone and they accomodating to the request. We definitely recommend this place for your next get together!

I was celebrating my birthday and wanted to try a new restaurant, so my family and I decided to give this place a try. The food was mediocre and the sauces were ok. My daughter who is a vegetarian ordered the macaroni and cheese, only to find out after taking a few bites that there is pork inside of it. First of all, who puts meat inside macaroni and cheese, and second, it should have stated that on the menu! Needless to say, Famous Dave’s will continue to be our choice of a restaurant when we want GOOD BBQ!

This place is disgusting! They couldn’t even make easy mashed potatoes! The ribs were blah no flavor or zest. My Hubby and I will never go here again. Not only that they barely give you any ribs for the expensive price you pay. Save your money.

The ‘Smoking Pig BBQ’ joint is a decent place to eat. My personally experience is that me and my boyfriend went to this venue and order our first meal from this restaurant. First of all the customer service is nice but too slow. Would suggest to hire 1 – 2 more potential employees or add more shifts to regular staffs to help out the restaurant. Rather then letting customers looking for the waiters for a really long time. Overall, yes the customer services need some work.
In other hand, The food itself it’s great! Love the amazing cornbread that they serve. Only wish they serve more than 1. Yes I do sound fatty on the last statement, but that good to ask for some more. No one would give up a chance of good food here, am I wrong? In any case, the meat in general is great, love the sauces they created for the meats. Nevertheless, I would come back here maybe 2 times a year but not frequently. Though, if they just sell cornbread in a container package, yes I would just come back just for those.

It’s been 20 months since I made my last review, and yes I have been here a few times since… But this time I am going to write because it’s gone down hill since my first visit… Service was terrible, not friendly at all… Brisket was so dry that I had a hard time chewing it… My muffin was so hard that I could of used it as a weapon… I am giving it two stars only because when I walked in they smiled and said, «WELCOME»…I was born and raised here in Fremont and I know GREAT restaurants when I see them… I am sorry, but your quality has gone from a 5 to a 2

Great local joint for delicious BBQ. Our server was fantastic and kept the burnt ends coming.
I just wish there was more for the price.
Its worth it so you must order!

I don’t know about you but I feel good supporting great people in my community in local business… But that’s not what you have at the Smoking Pig BBQ in Fremont.
My husband, his sister and I decided to go for a few drinks and listen to some live music. After a couple hours and being the only ones left on the dance floor (was probably only 20 customers all night), we made our way to the bar for a final drink…
That’s when the owner, who wouldn’t tell us her name decided to start being rude out of no where. She was upset that she had paid all that money for the band and no one bought food (only drinks). She was so mean and ugly that her own staff gave some of our money back and kept apologizing.
We still don’t know the name of that women but she is the meanest little Korean I’ve even encountered.
There is way better BBQ for way better service and prices out there. Don’t waste your hard earned money on someone who doesn’t deserve it.
Never in my life has an owner of an establishment been so unrighteousness rude.
I kind of feel bad for her… husband.

This review is for Friday night (11/​06/​2015). Fabulous food, like always. I’m now addicted to their pulled pork and the macaroni and cheese (best I’ve ever had!). Hubby always has a three-​meat plate, usually ribs, chicken and lean brisket.
I’m writing this update because our server was the same one as the last 2 — 3 times we’ve been there and he’s so good that he deserves special recognition. I made a point of getting his name and even how to spell it: Marquise. He’s not only fast and attentive, he’s also extra thoughtful. Even though the place was full and he was super busy, he obviously *cares* about making our dinner and the whole experience as nice as he can possibly make it. That’s so rare! Big kudos to you, Marquise!
While I’m writing this, I’ll also mention the fellow who seems to be the crew leader (or something similar): Anthony. He had a name tag on and I happened to notice his name, so I didn’t have to ask about that. He seated us and went to the trouble of explaining each of the BBQ sauces to us. Usually, whoever seats us just hands us a menu and smiles, basically. Anthony stood out because he seemed to want us to feel welcome and to know that they’re glad we’re there. That’s going above and beyond — and even though we’ve been to the Smoking Pig quite a few times, this was the first time we’ve had that sort of welcome.
Smoking Pig has really gotten its act together. The food has always been excellent (and we’ve tried lots of different items) but the service is now better than it’s ever been (and that’s saying something)!

The manager is super nice, and the server, Marqise is theeee best! Ask to sit in his section. You won’t be disappointed!

I have been here a few times, keep coming back for lunch because it’s very good. Servers were all friendly. Clean and has that bbq smell.
Their lines were mixed up so I received a Diet Coke, they brought me a new one quick.
I ordered an extra side and my total was $ 23. I ordered to much food tho. Great meal.

Maybe this location is jaded because before it was Hooters and before then it was a restaurant that was not memorable.
I had high hopes for Smoking Pig, but I was let down by the dead foot traffic and the so-​so food. We were a group of 10 and was seated immediately — maybe due to the abundance of empty tables! The restaurant is very large and there was 5 guys at the bar watching the game while 2 families sat toward the front. This was a Sunday at 1pm — one of the peak days and time for most businesses.
I ordered the 3 meat combo plate with pulled pork, pork ribs, and brisket. We had the burnt ends appetizer and Wolf Turds. The meats were just okay, a bit sweet with not enough salt and meats were a bit tough — especially the burnt ends covered in honey. For my sides, I had the Southern Greens which were disappointing as well. Very bland and not enough seasoning. However, my other side was absolutely amazing — the home style mac n cheese! This was the ONLY dish that stood out from the rest. It has bits of brisket and i believe pulled pork. Super creamy and perfectly seasoned! My toddler loved it. But it’s a shame the rest of the food wasn’t to the same level.
Order the Mac N Cheese to-​go, no need to stick around.

Fist time here. A friend told me about it and thought I would have to give it a shot. Walked in and the place was empty, thought it was not open. But yep it was. I missed the rush the server said.
I asked about the sandwiches, he told me about the pulled pork sandwich. I ordered it and it was very good, great taste.
Told me about there sweet tea and I remember it when I was in Nashville this week to there was very good. He brought me a glass took a sip and very good, kind of reminds me of the sweet tea in Nashville.
Place inside is very nice very western style would affair do have a stage performances during the night. Music that’s playing right now it’s easy listing good to listen to.
I will be coming back here. If you’ve never tried this place, you need to.

I am not a hard person to please and this place couldn’t do it.
We in for dinner. Sat fast from a friendly host. Server came quick, took drink orders. We told her we needed time because it was our 1^st time. She gave us a good amount of time.
After ordering the food came quickly. I will list what we had and the stars I give it 0 – 5.

I am a foodie. I honestly had a bite of every thing. I will tell you to stay clear of the Potato salad and Coleslaw, they were just gross. The cornbread is ok, much better with butter. The Macaroni and cheese was the thing I liked the most.
Although the service was good. I will not go back. Prices are ok but I can get better for the same price.
If I was the owner I would definitely try some new recipes.

The husband and I finally decided to trek the 10 minutes from our place to have some BBQ on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, we came during a time with very loud live music that wasn’t exactly danceable (not that I dance) so we were kind of yelling at each other across the table. Awww, just like our first couple of dates.
Anyway, the food was good. I didn’t have high expectations considering we came at 9pm, but if you are not a huge barbecue eater (and I’m not), I would suggest sharing a sampler plate and a rack of ribs, maybe a couple of beers and that’ll do ya well.
We tried a sampler with the following 3 items:
— burnt ends (I liked it but you may want to skip it if you’re not into sticky-​sweet sauce)
— wolf turds (bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers essentially — obviously better fresh)
— potato skins (the must-​have for me).
Husband enjoyed his ribs. I got an order of brisket; if I ever eat here again, I’m going to specify ALL fatty because the lean wasn’t very impressive.
Overall — not bad if you’re from the area and in the mood for BBQ.

I felt like the biggest disappointment of the smoking pig is the service. I stopped in to pick up some take out and it was over a half an hour to get the out the door.
Then we ate the food, I know I’m spoiled because I use Unilocal to find the good stuff, unfortunately this is all the area has to offer in terms of real BBQ. I also know the original location in San Jose is really good, at least in the past. The food itself was also a big disappointment. The chicken was so so dry. The pulled pork looked like it should be moist, but it was dry and lacked any flavor. The burnt ends were really burnt ends. The ribs were alright, really meaty but a little dry. The brisket was the best of all of it.
There’s really nothing in food service that 6 big screen TVs can make up for, even during game time. That being said I understand why I had to wait a little longer than usual, there was a huge game going on. At least I got to watch while I waited for the food. I’m glad I checked my order, some of it was missing. More waiting.
I hate to say it but I’d have to be pretty desperate to go back here.

I’m usually picky with my barbeque spots, but I was craving some good ribs and someone suggested this restaurant. So my boyfriend and I checked it out.
It was crowded because of the warriors game playing on the TVs, but not so much that we didn’t get seated right away.
We ordered the sampler plate with the chicken pops, the wolf turds, and the nachos. Everything was delicious but I especially liked the nachos which had nacho cheese sauce with a unique flavoring to it — but I wouldn’t be able to tell you what that was. It had pulled pork on it along with the usual nacho toppings.
I also accidentally ordered the half rack of ribs when I meant to order a fourth rack. Whoops. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich. We both got mac and cheese as our sides.
The mac and cheese was amazing! Super creamy and flavorful. Again, the cheese had a unique taste, but very still amazing! My ribs were good, but not the best I’ve ever had. Not lean enough for me. There were too many chunks of fat. however, the meat was juicy and cooked right.
The sauces they had were all pleasing to my palette. I couldn’t decide which one i liked best, and just rotated between them.
The manager/​owner came over to our table and asked us if everything was going well! I love it when they do that!
I got full fast and had tons of leftovers I’m still going through. Love it!

Shortly after Christmas, I came here with my parents and my kid. The wait for the food was so long that my mom had a tantrum and she and my dad threatened to leave. The manager on duty and our waiter really pushed us to stay, to the point of offering to comp our meal. We finally agreed to stay but we insisted on paying and tipping… we’re not mooches!
Still, the manager wouldn’t let us leave without a $ 50 gift certificate. In the end, we felt like they did a good job with service recovery — and the food was very good once it finally arrived (about 45 minutes after we ordered) — but we felt like we wouldn’t return, even with the $ 50 credit.
I kept that certificate in my purse anyhow, just in case. Today I went back with my kid and her BFF and wow… talk about a 180! The food came out lightning fast. Now, of course my first thought was that they could tell the certificate had been issued to address a complaint so they were trying harder, but dammit, I like that! They didn’t make me feel that I was a pain in the butt that they were obligated to endure and placate. The current manager on duty came over and slyly got the story out of me. He explained that, yes, they had lots of service and food prep time issues last year, as they were fairly new at the time, which I did not know. He went on to explain that they have been making major changes to their systems and that’s why things are so much better now.
There’s another thing I like… they listen to their customers and change things accordingly. Good job, Smoking Pig team!

Although I had never heard of Smoking Pig until my friend suggested coming here for dinner, I was excited to check them out after seeing the overwhelming praise for their original location in San Jose. A four star average over 1,300+ reviews? They must be doing something right. Which makes me wonder if perhaps they’re doing something wrong here…
While the size of the restaurant was somewhat impressive (there’s a bar area, as well as a section for live bands to play), the menu stood out that much more. Or I was just that hungry. The menu offers plenty of starters/​bar bites, as well as about a half dozen grilled meats/​sandwiches and roughly a dozen types of sides.
– WOLF TURDS — Jalapenos stuffed with Cheese and House-​made Sweet Sausage, wrapped in Bacon and Smoked…$ 5 for 2 /​$ 9 for 4

Despite the name, these «turds» are really more like jalapeño poppers, but better. The heat wasn’t too intense, and the cheese and sausage filling was great, but the pepper was a little too smokey. Loved those big strips of bacon though…
– TWO MEAT & SIDE COMBO — Beef Brisket and Two Pork Ribs with House Mac n Cheese…$ 15.95

I had actually ordered a three meat combo so that I could also try their pulled pork, but they shorted me. Of the two I did get, the brisket was better — moist, flavorful, and well marbled. As for the ribs, they weren’t bad, just simply not as good. The char was slightly heavy, but I did like the smokiness it added.
Even if the BBQ may have slightly underwhelmed, the mac n cheese sure didn’t. And how. Sure, it’s not at all healthy, but what (good) mac n cheese is? Cheesy, slightly creamy, and just a touch of smokey meatiness. I don’t know what the other sides taste like, but I’m not sure how they could be better.
Despite how much I enjoyed my side though, I still can’t round up from THREE AND A HALF STARS considering the kitchen missed on my order (even if our server was really cute…). Plus, the cuts on the ribs weren’t all that meaty and the burnt ends my buddy ordered tasted SUPER burnt. While I wouldn’t oppose coming back, I’d rather check out their original Smoking Pig location instead.
