While in the pool industry I have dealt with thousands of pools (maybe I have dealt with yours previously) and enjoy working with people providing a safe, happy, and friendly environment that the entire family can enjoy due to my efforts.

I became CPO certified and a contractor early on and have enjoyed learning as much as possible every year.

During my career I have attended numerous conventions with classes relating to all aspects of swimming pools, and have also become certified by all of the major manufacturers for installation, repairs, and maintenance related to pool equipment and pool structures.

The complexity of swimming pools that I have dealt with range from a basic swimming pool to several large Olympic sized swimming pools with very complex equipment setups.

Hired Don for a simple service and he missed all kinds of things. We found Elite to be a waste of money and had to have a competent contractor come in afterwards.

I guess I should’ve looked up Don’s company on Unilocal before calling him out. Much to his credit, he did show up on the schedule day to go over what he thought needed fixing. The goal was to get an estimate on what regular maintenance should be for our complex’s pool/spa. Don seemed to know what he was talking about and we were looking forward to working with him, but as others pointed out, he doesn’t seem to like to return phone calls. Called multiple times afterwards to request the estimate and not once did he call back. Guess money isn’t money.

I wish I could give him negative stars. I see a pattern in all the reviews here that Don is extremely unprofessional and doesn’t care for his customer’s time. We tried to hire him to inspect a pool for real estate transactions that have very tight deadline. The seller has autistic kids and its very tough to schedule time for inspections, and Don agreed to come on Monday of following week. He called us on Friday to see if we can reschedule for the weekend instead. So to accommodate his request, we rescheduled for Sunday by requesting the seller. When we called him to let him know that the new time is Sunday, he didnt pick up the phone nor return our multiple calls since Friday and Saturday. We though he might showup on monday as scheduled earlier, and again requested the seller to reschedule for monday and I decided to take off from work. He didnt show up nor returned our calls till date. Its no wonder he has F rating from BBB. I would not recommend him for any type of job. He is not at all serious about his work and is just wasting everyone’s time.

It is very difficult for me to give an honest review for a repair of my pool system because Don never committed to coming out and fixing my issue. After a perplexing repair issue confounded me, I needed to call a pro in. After exchanging voice mails for a day or two, we tentatively decided on a specific date. I still needed to confirm if he was coming and left separate
voice mails over the next couple of days. He never returned my calls.
I called another local pool repair service and was greeted by a live voice and scheduled a repair date/time immediately. My repair was resolved quickly by this other service and I’m extremely happy of the results.
I was extremely disappointed that Elite Pools did not return my calls and left me hanging for several days. It seems that Don likes to pick and choose his repairs, depending on the difficulty of the issue. I would recommend he changes the name of his company to Elitist Pool, since he doesn’t feel the need to service all customers.

I had another pool service come out to my house to fix my pool heater and they were basically stumbling all over my heater, reading diagrams. you could tell they had no clue. They had told me it was the gas valve then the control panel.
I had Elite pools come out and he got right to work troubleshooting the heater and found the source of the problem with in like 30 minutes, it was a sensor. he is very knowledgable and professional. I am even changing my pool service to Elite Pools. He really knows his stuff. I dont know what happened with the bad reviews, but I would ignore them. This is one of the most knowledgable pool guys I have met yet.

Don was hired to inspect our pool before we purchased our new home. He gave it a very generic review and his only recommendation was a heater and new GFI receptacle. After we paid him and received his report we purchased the home. Needless to say, we have had to have 7 different repairs completed and 3 separate leaks in the pool, filter, and piping (concrete work as well) fixed. Several of the pool companies hired to fix these repairs asked if we had the pool inspected (which we explained we had) and they asked if the inspector (Don) even got out of his car as many of the issues should have been reported in the inspection.
After many attempts to reach Don to inquire about his inspection (and him not returning our calls) we finally got a hold of him (after we blocked our number) and explained the situation, which he took no responsibility for and said everything appeared fine when he expected it 1 month prior. I outlined all the repairs, what the other experts had said, and he still did not want to be held accountable.
We finally agreed that he would refund our inspection fee in lieu of us taking legal action against him (for fraud), our costs to repair all the issues and again not one was included in Dons inspection report. Also so we would go away and quit bugging him to make things right… well guess what, not only did we never receive our refund check but once again he will not return our calls, messages, or emails– and still has not refunded our fee.
**He is a terrible businessman, not too be trusted, and horrible at his profession. I highly suggest you do not use his services nor do business with him and I have notified every real estate agent I know who also will not use his services again.
Let this be a warning to you so you do not have to deal with the same headaches we had to deal with by using Elite Pools.

I selected Elite Pool Solutions — Fremont to repair my solar pool heater partly because of the high ratings it got on this site. But I truly regret that decision now. I wished I had looked him up on the BBB site, which gave this business an F rating.

My heater developed three leaks in the 3-inch pipes on the roof. Don from Elite came to repair those leaks, and he said he would warranty them for the current season. After he left, the pipes all looked repaired, and we were away from the house for a few weeks. After our return, I noticed trickles of water from each of the repaired locations. So I called Don, and he said he was going on a trip and would be back after a week. I waited a week and called him again. This time he said he would come back to fix his repairs, and he actually showed up. He even said he would re-do all three repair jobs. He thinks it was a bad batch of glue that caused the problem. But after he «finished» the repairs a second time, I still noticed the same trickles of water. So I called Don again. This was on Labor Day. Ever since then, I have called him every day, and he has not returned my call. It’s been more than two weeks. So much for the repair warranty.
I am now getting the leaks repaired by Excel Pools. They have an A+ rating from BBB.
. I will try to recover the money I paid to Elite Pools. Let this serve as a warning to all pool owners out there.

We have a real estate project in Newark that has a large pool with inoperable equipments. We found Don through Unilocal’s review and he definitely lived up to his reputation and our expectation! He provided very knowledge insight on pools in general, he helped replaced old filters and cleaned up a very dirty pool — with great quality, pride, efficiency, and enthusiasum. We have minor additional requests here and there and he helped us without any hesitation. We are extremely satisfied with his work and we’ll recommend him to anyone who needs pool services!
