Brookvale 76 Gas & Service Station

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. The guy was so horrible & rude. I asked for air to be on, he said «purchase gas then u get air for your tire» (Chinese ascent) I didn’t know to be angry or laugh. Horrible guy & FYI gas is expensive. Chevron is right across much better service & cheaper gas

Seriously, the man who works that gas station is rude. I came late after work and was in need of gas and I haven’t had time to get some on my way so I HAD to get some before I went home. I did show up when he was closing up shop but I felt like he was being rude as hell when I just asked him to take my cash cuz he was ready to go and I didn’t have my card on me so I was hoping he would help me cuz I’m usually a regular and we work right next to each other. I get that he was closed. But it gave him no right to talk to me how he talked to me, and he yelled at me at that. I felt like he was treating me like a homeless person asking for change. Slammed the door on me and everything. Never going to that gas station again. And I heard the auto care sucks ass. Seriously dude, learn some customer service !

I’ve been coming to this particular Union 76 for years, and my review here is just for the gasoline station and convenience store (they have a small repair shop and smog station in the rear, neither of which I have used services from). It has some of the cheapest gas prices in the area (compared to Chevron and Shell only), offering both cash and credit prices (with the price difference being about $ 0.07-$ 0.09/gallon cheaper for cash depending on the time of the year). The paper towel dispensers are always replenished (at least when I’m there) and there are also windshield wipers in soapy water available to clean your dirty windows.
The convenience store is stocked with a small variety of snacks like candies, chips, cookies, pastries, chilled drinks, cigs, etc. (it’s no Chevron Extra Mile or 7-​Eleven store so don’t expect a lot, LOL).
Regarding the attendants and depending on the time of day/​evening, most of them are very friendly and courteous, but there’s one older gentleman who works during the dayshift and can be a little grumpy at first and appears to put up a front (part of his charm I suppose); however, once he sees you as a familiar face, he’s not so bad and starts to butter up (I always make it a point to say hello, goodbye, and thank you to him whenever I’m inside the store to get a receipt or buy something so as not to get on his bad side). This station would not be what it is without this old timer behind the counter.
Brookvale 76 Gas & Service Station is a bit dated and could use a facelift inside and out, but it still offers some of the best gas prices in Fremont which is why I’ll continue to give my patronage to this mom-​and-​pop owned (definitely not corporate) 76 station. Fill ‘er up!!!

My review is just for oil changes. I’ve been coming here for a few years now.
I drop off my vehicle, go to the gym across from the station in the strip mall, and pick it up about 2 hours later. $ 30, in and out, no fuss, no B.S. (they don’t try to up sell for a tranny or fuel injector flush, etc).
Spot on service.

Yes, this place is a little shady for auto service. But my family has been coming here for a while now. I got an oil change and my tires rotated for $ 30 today.

Do not come here, I took my honda disuse here for alignment, they asked me to pay cash, I walked to nearby lucky for some grocery, when I picked up my car, I can tell nothing has been done on my car, and they gave me a report w/​o my address and car info, the report was showing the wrong date too, I asked for refund but they refuses. Beware of this repair shop!

I’ve only used this place for gas — nothing else. I had always used either 76 or chevron in my motorcycle and after moving into the area I started filling up here since it was on my way to and from work. After the first fill-​up I noticed a drop in power and surging (an indication of leanness) especially on the highway. At first I thought that my carbs had suddenly gotten dirty but after a couple of tankfuls decided to switch to Chevron. I immediately noticed a huge difference. After two tankfuls, the power is back and my gas mileage is up by nearly 10%. My guess would be that this 76 station is using a blend with too much ethanol.

Showed up mid-​morning, coupon in hand. «The guy’s not here yet. Don’t know when he’ll be in.» Don’t bother with this one.

Speaking about the gas prices only, this is better priced than any of the 76 stations in the area.

This 76 is located inside the Brookvale Shopping Center, here in Fremont.
I’ve been to this 76 once, and the experience was fine, nothing too special. Just your typical 76. Prices are somewhat decent.
The station has a Convenience Store and a Auto Repair Shop.

Pricing has become more competitive especially when you pay via credit card. recently I found the credit card pricing to be better than the ⁷⁄₁₁ and the 76 down the road on Thornton.

I wouldn’t even give it a star but I had to in order to write this review.
It’s comedy to me that so many of you have gone out of your way to Unilocal this particular gas station as well.
True Story:
One day I stop at this 76 to gas up, keep in mind my car only takes 91 octane. So, I throw my debit/​credit card in the pump and it wouldn’t let me select 91 so I make my way in to talk to the cashier. I walk in and the man says «nice new GTi!» I accept his compliment and explained my issue with the pump, he takes my card and I pre-​pay $ 40. I return to the pump and it is STILL NOT letting me select 91, so the man comes out and offers to «help me.»
I step around my car as he begins to pump. While all this is happening, another VolksWagon is on the other side of my pump complaining of the same issues– THIS IS WHEN IT GETS INTERESTING—
I hear the VW owner say to the man pumping my gas,“I can’t put 87 in my car.” (drives off) 0_​o
I look and I see that the cashier/​owner has pumped $ 20 worth of 87 octane gas into my new GTi!!! I yell for him to stop and he looks at me startled. I asked why he would do that especially when he complimented me on my new car?!
(Get ready)
He tells me, «WE ARE OUT OF 91.»
Me: WHAT?!
guy: «We are OUT OF 91 gas»
So basically, the pump wasn’t working in the beginning because there wasn’t any gas available in that pump.
I literally went APE, not a proud moment, but I was so upset. They refunded ONLY the remaining balance of my $ 40 pre-​pay which did not clear for another 2 days.
So, there I was, a half tank of crap gas, bamboozled out of $ 20.
I asked the man why he wouldn’t tell me out of basic ethics that they were out of 91 when I came in the 1^st time and he responds, «Gas is all the same.»
Long story short: This place is a joke. My guess is that each pump is filled with 87 octane gas. (or even if it’s gas at all) DO not ever hand these people your card. Do yourself a favor and drive down to the next 7-​Eleven Station or the Arco on the corner.

Ive been here a couple of times i dont think the place is that bad but then again i only come to put gas and pay with cash because its cheaper if you pay with cash there has only been one time that i came and 1 pump was not working as for the inside there isnt much in the store.

I’m going to have to agree with all the other Unilocalers — you can barely call it a gas station. One time out of desperation/​convenience I tried to fill up here, but half the pumps are broken, the card readers were sketchy, and it’s more expensive than everything nearby. Just no.

I would give this station less stars if I could. I used to go here to fill up for convenience of location and ability to pay at pump and get receipt and not have to go into the station. Last time I went, besides the rates being higher, the pay at the pump would not produce a receipt so I had to go into the office. I didn’t bring my purse with me (locked in the car) and they requested that they had to reswipe my card to get me a receipt. I already swiped my card at the pump. I noted the amount on the pump and wrote it in my checkbook… now the charge for the gas is showing up $ 11.88 HIGHER than the correct charge. RIP OFF station. I will NEVER go there again. I highly recommend ANY other station than this.

I took my ’97 Accord here for a Smog check. The car never had a transmission problem or failed a smog. However, I failed the test twice here due to some bs excuses they gave me. After the first failed test, they told me the car just need to be drive around some more. And if I took my car back after few days, they will give me a discount. So I did that, and I failed again! The owner said they can fix my car there, but I felt something was fishy about the shop. I took my car to Autowest Honda, where I bought my car. They inspected my car and passed the Smog without any problem the same day Brookvale 76 failed my second Smog! I reported them to the Bureau of Automotive Repair! They are under investigation. If you need Smog Check, please look somewhere else.

I just go here for the gas when I don’t have cash and want to use my credit card.
I filled up my gas tank at $ 2.769 and 9.248 gallons. Total $ 25.61 on Feb 22, 2007.
No line when I went and then I’m on my way home.
Updated 2÷27÷07: had planned to go to Arco across the parking lot but their machines were down. Arco was 2.75 a gallon for cheap gas. Stupid 76 was $ 2.85 ⁹⁄₁₀! Damn. Even Citgo up the road was $ 2.75.
Hate 76. $ 2.85 9÷10×9.562 gallons = $ 27.34! That’s $ 1.73 more in 5 days. Greedy bastards.

Bought gas here cuz didn’t have enough cash for Arco which was $ 3.13/gal for unleaded.
Unleaded was $ 3.26
UP was $ 3.39
Prem was $ 3.49
