Love this place! Been there a few times and never been disappointed. Their best meal in my opinion is their roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce– it is awesome– better than Kelley’s roast beef in Natick even. Price is pretty good here. Parking is good and service friendly. I would recommend this place more as a family restaurant, not so much as a fancy dinner date.

It wAs our first time there and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Prices were certainly reasonable and the food was very good… we started off with the colossal shrimp cocktail as appetizer… it was delicious! Clam chowder was awesome as well! Roast beef sandwich & Swiss & mushroom burger did not disappoint us either!!! Atmosphere was nice and the owner Andrea was very friendly and made it a point to welcome us to her establishment

We went to the alumni based on a recommendation. Overall we had a good experience. It was pretty busy, but that’s to be expected on a Friday evening. We were seated within 15 minutes. I got the roast beef sandwich. The sandwich itself was excellent. I got up charged $ 2.50 for a sad little side salad rather than French fries. My fiancée got the Greek salad with shrimp and chicken which she enjoyed. The service was mediocre, I could tell she was busy but she was running to tables all over the restaurant. It just wasn’t very organized. She was friendly though and it won’t prevent me from coming back. I definitely need another one of those sandwiches in my life!

Was told about this place. Was worth the trip. Shrimp cocktail was delicious. I ordered the prime rib. It came out perfect the way I ordered it. The staff is super friendly. I will definitely come back.

Heard rave reviews about this place & came highly recommend to go try. This place did not disappoint! We had shrimp cocktail to start — nice n cold & their homemade sauce was spot on. My companions prime rib wad cooked to perfection and very flavorful. I had the neptune casserole — shrimp, succulent scallops, halibut, and lobster meat in a light butter sauce topped w/panko. So good!!! Choose the butternut squash(sweetened w/maple syrup YUM& «Alumni fries» for sides. The fries are thick wedges, soft inside & crunchy on the out. I repeat, so good! Was busy but not annoyingly loud at all. Nice bar with friendly staff, especially Kathryn our waitress/manager. They also have traditional bar food, burgers, sandwiches etc. We’ll definitely revisit this place!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Been there four times. French dip can be too fatty at times. However, just went Friday night and all three of us(all adults) loved our good –alumni sampler appetizer, Mac and cheese, fisherman a platter, and chicken piccata. Yum!!!

Always come here… Severed me undercooked fish tonight… and then re-fried it… Served it to me again(soaked with oil inside and out) and claimed it was a new piece… Not cool alumni not cool at all… Disappointed … Must note everyone else food was great… But still… Not cool

I’ve been to Alumni several several times with my grandparents. Today, for my birthday, I chose to eat here. My party of four waited ten minutes just for the doors to open. They still were not unlocked. We all worked up an appetite so we waited five more minutes. Then we decided to take our business else where. As did another couple waiting.

Have been many times since the last update. The Roast Beef has been better and everything else we’ve had has been good. Although we usually all go for the Roast Beef — growing up we would always hit Kelly’s on Revere Beach and this is a decent replication here in Franklin.

My boyfriend and I must’ve gone on a very busy night but our waitress was rude we were seated in a make shift area of the restaurant that had not been completely renovated yet. Our appetizer was actually absolutely delicious, our sodas tasted like typical bar soda diluted meant for the other have to be alcohol in it. The waitress messed up our sandwich order so bad that me and my boyfriend had to swap, and then when she came over to the table and noticed that we had swapped meals she gave us a huge attitude, believing that it must’ve been us that messed up because we switch the sandwiches, at this point we were past being polite and my boyfriend told her straight up no you messed up this is what I ordered this is what my girlfriend ordered and neither one of us got what we wanted. I ended up getting a chicken salad sandwich the chicken was rotten I couldn’t finish a meal and we both felt sick after. I really hate to write this review but I don’t want anyone to go in there expecting miracles and get subpar food like we had. The service was so so other than our waitress clearly demeaning us and talking down to us and, we were sat around three families up three huge families of obnoxious children, which time to time happens I understand that but on top of the crap service it was kind of the end of the line for us. After years of ordering a taco salad and loving it I don’t think I’ll ever be able to drag my boyfriend back there again. I do know one of the cooks and when he is on the food is amazing I think they had a different kitchen staff running the food that night.

I love the alumni it is one of my favorite restaurants in franklin! The food is great! It is a place that my family and I love to go to! Everything is delicious! Also the service is great every single waitress or waiter I have had there is perfect and nice! Everytime my family and I get sodas there they are never flat! I hate when I go to a restaurant and my soda is flat! My brother and I usually get the kids chicken fingers which are very good! The French fries are also tasty! Also I have gotten there salads which are also good! When the kids are done if they want they get a hoodsie! I recommended alumni! A great family friendly restaurant!

Alumni may just have the best Roast Beef Sandwiches on the planet! The bar is always packed, and the food from the kitchen always comes out on time and hot. I love that theres a Keno TV that you can see from pretty much anywhere, and maybe one day I’ll actually win a game. But who needs to win at Keno to have a great Roast Beef Sandwich? Not me, bring it on!

The Alumni is a fine representation of the town it’s in; a sad little place where dreams go to die. The food is abysmal, the service nonexistent, and the atmosphere wanting. There are plenty of chain restaurants in the area — eat there. The Alumni isn’t a diamond in the rough, or a coveted hole in the wall. It’s where the children of the corn eat.

My favorite menu items are the mac and cheese and clam chowder. Mostly just your typical pub food. Beers are cheap and they have a pretty good selection on tap. Our favorite waiter is Andy, he’s always friendly and attentive.

The service is good and you can usually get a table on a Friday or Saturday night. Great for a beer or Keno BUT the food is just so-so, nothing special. I’m not the greatest cook and I can whip up some dishes that taste better! Kind of reminds me of nursing home food– basic ingredients without much flavor or creativity. Better off with Pub 99.

Just OK, and I’m pretty easy to please :-/Ordered the Mediterranean salad with steak tips, and was real surprised to see it come with the steak tips completely cut up into tiny pieces! Although they were grilled and delicious, I’d be surprised if the cut-up pieces added up to more than two actual steak tips, which was disappointing, especially at $ 13. And I don’t think I’d ever had bad apple crisp until I had it here — sounded incredible with cinnamon and caramel, but it was actually bland with the exception of a really unnatural, plastic-y taste. On the plus side, the service was great — both the waitress and hostess were very friendly and pleasant. I generally find restaurants/cooks bring their A-game early on a Saturday night, like this was, so I’m not too eager to try again after this first visit. But I will and will update the review then.

My friends and I went to the Alumni on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. The food was amazing. I had a the Graduate burger with sweet potato fries, my boyfriend had a chicken parm sandwich, and my friend got the steak tips dinner. The burger was cooked PERFECTLY. Medium-well is a very difficult temp to master, and they did it. The beef patty was well seasoned, tender, juicy, with the perfect ratio of pink. The bun was buttered and toasted on the grill. and they were very generous with the toppings of onion rings, A1, and swiss. My friend who got the steak tips was very impressed with the portions and taste of the meal. The dinner was spectacular. Just one negative about this restaurent to report– when we were ready to cash out, we wanted to spit the bill with cash and cards– our waiter seemed REALLY confused and almost didn’t give us our correct change back. He was literally SUPER confused over what should have been a normal function for a waiter. Took us 25 minutes to get cashed out. Other than that– Alumni is a great place that is nearby for some decent pub grub and a drink.

Our group of four popped in one Saturday afternoon in search for tasty wings! We arrived, we were seated, we were… disappointed. Place reminds me of the typical reunion destination(«that place in town that everyone knows and has never has, never will change»). A central bar with surrounding booth seating means that there is space for everyone. There were glossy celebrity posters on the walls(just sticky tacked on… weird). Our waitress seemed exhausted and was unenthusiastic(why so disappointed when I request ketchup for my french fries?) On the bright side: the«side» of fries was ~$ 2.50 and was basket-sized and crunchy-good, and a cuppa average-american coffee is about the same price… no I dined on the cheap, and that goes for both my food order and my experience.

I’ve been to this place several times to get a feel for their consistency and quality of food. The bar always seems very active and the drinks are fairly priced. The menu is a huge selection of pub style food and classic family restaurant items. It will take me years to possibly have every single meal. The ones I have had have been great. The Buffalo Chicken and Pulled Pork Sandwiches are good. Burgers are also quite good. They also have a strong selection of sides. Overall a strong choice for dinner. Never had trouble getting into this place on a Friday or Saturday night either as they have plenty of seating, so that’s a huge plus. Update: Been here a few more times on Friday and Saturday nights and I upgraded my ratings from a 4 star to a 5 star. They have been very consistent. Excellent place to eat.

Weve been a going to the Alumni ever since it opened a couple of years ago. I’ve never had a bad meal there and the service has always been good. Until our last visit. I order an unadvertised special very often and did the same this visit. As I placed the last fork in my mouth, I felt something odd. I pulled something out of my mouth and it was definitely not food. It was scary looking. I complained to the owner who stated he would speak to the chef and would not charge me for my dinner. I’m sorry, but I have been in the food business nearly 40 years. If I was in his shoes, I would have comped my whole check, including my partners dinner! We eat at the bar exclusively, so I can’t speak to the waited table service. The bartenders are attentive, friendly and fun. It’s a friendly place and most evenings we go there, we strike up a friendly and and interesting conversation with the other bar patrons sitting nearby. Unfortunately, over the past six months, the Alumni has taken a nose dive. We’ve noticed that many of the regulars are not returning and the clientele has changed. As we sat there, one beer drinking patron belched loudly after each gulp of beer and another spoke loudly of his deteriorating medical condition. I tolerate dicey language pretty well, but the f-bombs raining down in this place are ridiculous. We’re very disappointed as The Alumni is one of the very few(if any other) establishments in Franklin that served good food in a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the thrill is gone. I am sorry to say, we will never be going back to the Alumni.
