Recently bought my second car from Automax in Framingham. It was a fairly painless decision. My sales guy was John McCarthy. He was laid back, answered our questions, and didn’t put on the pressure. Despite it being a Sunday afternoon and close to closing time, he let us test drive two cars and look at two more without so much as a bat of the eye. I bought a car on the spot! Dave in finance was great and quickly got me a rate as low as what my credit union was offering. (If you have very good credit, the finance piece seems like a breeze). The car had a recall on it. By Wednesday when I went to pick it up, the recall had been serviced at Ford, they gave me brand new floor mats, replaced the the rear breaks because they looked worn, cleaned it inside and out, filled the tank– all I had to do was hop in and drive away. I did take off one star because the paperwork seems rushed. I was talked into buying the extended warranty without a ton of explanation (upon later consideration I realized it may not have been the best investment but the monthly charge was fairly low so I figure one electrical malfunction would make it worth it) and I didn’t get a lot of time to think about everything. I also made an appointment to pick up the car at 4pm but had to wait until 5pm. Not a big deal but why make an appointment if it won’t be honored? I would recommend Automax.

Not at all happy, picked my bmw, showed warnings on my ride back home, can’t trust them for what they say. Did not even fill up the tank as a courtesy, never seen this before. Will certainly stay away from them.

AutoMax Framingham reeks of dishonest business practices. I took my car there for service and was surprised by the $ 465 cost. I asked for an itemized list over the phone and it added up to $ 330. I asked Freddy why he was asking for $ 130 more than the total of the itemized services and he said it must be taxes! I called Shenanigans and pointed out that a sales tax of 6.25% would only bring the cost up to $ 350. He told me he had to make a phone call. When he called back, he agreed that he had «mistakenly» double charged me for a $ 100 deductible.
In addition to this incident, when I purchased the car from AutoMax Framingham almost 2 years ago I had a similar experience. They pushed me to sign documents without reading them first. I not only read them, but double checked the math and they had double charged me for a few line items then as well. They apologized for the mistake, but even then, I doubted that it was an accident.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Please learn from my experiences and do not waste your time with this company. If you do, read everything and double-​check their math.

UPDATE: After you buy your car any helpfulness or happy feelings about this place goes out the window.
After a few VERY LONG DAYS with more than a few very aggressive sales and finance bros, I ended up at AutoMax. So glad. I was paired with Fred on the sales floor and he was so nice! I was tired and cranky and he was so accommodating and really worked hard to find exactly what I wanted. I went alone and unlike the other dealerships I never felt pressured or like I was fed any bullshit. He was absolutely fantastic and if you go I suggest that you ask for Fred.
So, we decided on a 2014 Volkswagen Passat and the next step was the finance office. Dave was a great guy. Patient and very very accommodating. AGAIN GREAT EXPERIENCE! Everyone was great and I really can’t at enough about these guys.
Get in there!

I test drove a car and loved it. Sat down to do the paperwork and handed Kent paperwork from my bank and he said that they don’t accept outside financing! I basically walked in there with cash and they said no, I had to finance through their lender. Sounded too shady for me and I had to walk away.

be careful with the extended warranty, it’s a trick and it cost me almost 3.000 dollars.
The guy NEVER said there was a deductible and everytime i make an appoitment to change oil (it was supposed to be free for 1 year) they take hours and hours, last time i waited for 2h and my car was still in the parking lot waiting… lol isnt that funny, it never happened to me when i bought my car at Haar toyota in Worcester (their service is great) aNYWay, i had to leave when i saw my car outside and i knew i was going to wait at least 1more hour.
This way, i’ve been paying oil changes from my pocket. Isn;t that great.
Since i bought my car i was telling them the tire light was on, and they kept saying, there was no problem. another guy looked my car and said there was a brake problem, again, i took my car to the dealer and they said, there’s no problem with your brakes.
Now the guy that was changing the oil said there is an oil leak (funny, i own the car less than a year), and i just found out that the f****** extended warranty doesn’t even cover this service or anything. i tossed 3k in the trash paying this extended warranty.

I don’t even know how to start this review because I’ve never been treated so horribly by a business. Can I give zero stars?
I’m in the market for a new car and I found a Jeep Patriot on TrueCar at this dealership I liked. I put in an email inquiry and got bombarded by calls and emails from Automax (to be expected they’re a car dealership). I finally speak with their internet manager Yasmine and make an appointment to come in. I get my father to come from central mass to meet me and I drive from Boston as I am seriously interested in this car and want him to see it.
Morning of, Yasmine calls me to confirm (around 11:00AM, appointment is at 11:30). Car is still available I’m excited.
We get to the dealership, walk in and are greeted by a man sitting at the desk in the front (green shirt and very green socks can’t remember his name). We chat about the car and he says he’s going to pull it up front.
The manager comes over (we believe his name is Danny) shakes our hand and tells us a guy actually went out to get money to pay for the car, but they don’t accept deposits so I’m totally fine to look at it/​test drive it and buy it if I’m first. Okay weird but fine we took a look.
Car is fine, not in as good condition as it was said to be online but whatever. We ask to test drive and he takes my license to make a copy.
He comes back about 5 minutes later and goes «you know the guy is coming back with a check for this car.» I ask if I can still test drive it (IM HERE I DROVE 45 MINUTES BROUGHT MY DAD LIKE COME ON). He replies «we’d rather not have you drive the car.»
I WAS LIVID. as was my dad. I told him I had confirmed the appointment literally 45 minutes prior. He had nothing to say.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I should have read this reviews as this place clearly doesn’t understand the idea of customer service or human decency in general.
DONT GO HERE, unless you don’t feel like being treated with respect.

This place is so bad. Went there to look at a car and was told immediately that someone else had look at it. Trying to make me feel I need to buy the car now. Manager didn’t know that just 30 minutes ago I called and vehicle was available. Danny was so rude and condescending I can’t believe they every sell a car. Very bad experience. Go elsewhere!

So I’ll start this by saying «thankfully, I never got the car I looked at.»
I went in on June 6, looking to upgrade from my current car. I had looked online, found something i had some interest, and clicked on their pre-​approval link. Then came the 3x a day harassing calls wanting to know when I was coming in. Finally, I caved and went in.
The sales guy I was told to ask for was actually the finance manager, Danny. I was pawned off on Dino. Seemed like a decent guy. So I explain my financial situation and that I was not in an rush to make a deal, but if it worked out in my benefit, I was willing. Pulls a car, I like it, I tell him «ok, let’s see if the numbers work before I go getting all excited.»
Dino says «ok, shouldn’t take too long.» Then starts the frustration.
After 3 hours of waiting, Danny tells me he needs my pay stub for the bank. Their computers wouldn’t allow me to log on to print it, so I rushed home and printed it. I was told I’d have an answer Sunday. I call back Sunday. Danny picks up says «bank’s closed, we’ll know tomorrow.» click, doesn’t even give me a chance to ask questions. Ok, that was rude.
Call Monday, Dino says «oh, should happen by the end of the day. After 3 check-​in calls, at 6:45pm, I’m told ‘oh, we’ll find out tomorrow.» At this point, I can tell I’m getting the brush off.
Tuesday: call at 11, Dino says «Danny is off today, I won’t bug him on his day off, call tomorrow.» Ok, fine, I appreciate the need for a day off, so I let it go.
That brings me to today, ⁶⁄₁₀. I call 3x asking for Danny, and the phone rings on end, with no voice mail. On the 4^th call, I say to the receptionist «Listen, I need an answer, I know Danny and Dino are screening my calls, can I please just get one of them on the line.» Receptionist says that she’ll page them. I’m left on hold for 10 minutes. Call disconnects. I’m done with them.
I’ve now read the reviews here and realized I’ve wasted parts of 4 days. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I hope their ‘digging for a deal’ doesn’t do too much damage to my credit.
Moral of the story: save your time and money… go elsewhere.

Worst experience ever — at least I didn’t waste as much time as some of the people that have posted here. I actually made an appointment to test drive a car, but when I showed up, the sales guy (John McCarthy) said i couldn’t drive it because i didn’t know if i wanted to buy it. Huh??? isn’t that the point of a test drive. Not sure if these guys actually want to sell cars or just waste people’s time. I guess they must be oozing with customers willing to pay $ 45k for a used car. Do yourself a favor, shop elsewhere.

Let me start by saying we bought a car from Automax and I would go back again, good customer service and good prices. Idol also say I do understand some of the previous negative reviews. We Bought my oldest daughters first «new» car at Automax. We walked in and it was almost closing (about 2 hours to close) and the place was relatively busy. The first thing we were treated with was the manager telling one of the salesman to basically quite his whining and smarten up! (Let me also say the manager was CORRECT). He grabbed us a salesman (David = nice, good salesman) and we started the process. We had been shopping around and found the right car for the right price, after agreeing in the price we had the car. Had a little hiccup the day we went to pick it up (they told us it had been sold to someone else?!), it was rectified the next day (seems like some «miscommunication» happened somehow). We had some help along this roller coaster sales ride from Sam. Everyone we spoke to and worked with was courteous and professional (even when I was swearing/​yelling/​threatening about them «selling» the car we already bought) so I give them credit. It all worked out in the end and as I said I will go back when we need to buy the next car.

I wish I could give a half star (even though they do not even deserve that)! Absolutely the worst customer service ever!
Last Friday I went to the dealership after calling to ensure they still had the car I was interested in. I test drove the car and then sat down to discuss numbers. After over an hour of waiting, my husband and I left to get lunch with the assurance that we would be hearing from our salesman «Vin» very shortly. Needless to say, now a week later and I have not been able to get a straight answer from anyone. I have called everyday only to get the run around from everyone, from the salesman to the finance manager.
Buyer beware– if you are expecting customer service you will not get it from this place. I truly do not believe they care about selling anything.

We started the sales process by talking to someone on a phone. The sales person wasn’t there when we actually walked in to look at the car. The guy who helped didn’t bother much since we mentioned the name of the person we spoke with over the phone. He did not ask for our names neither he introduced himself. He kept walking away from us and took another customer before we were done. Price was ok for description but when we look at the car we could tell it’s been in an accident or 2… we ask to negotiate the price. The sales guy said they don’t do this, gave as his card and said good bye. We called back to talk to a sales manager but they would transfer a call.

The worst car salesman I ever had by the name of Sam, the absolute worst, paid 13 and some change for a car and he wanted me to wait up to 7 days to register it there after getting the money, was also trying to sway me from the color to the make of the car, he really had me agitated, didn’t care one bit remember his Sam he really sucks

***PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP*** I know true used car dealerships get a bad rap but this place takes it to the next level. Long story short, they wouldnt sell me the car without financing through them (illegal, I know this and they know this). I went out there and tried to trade my car in and buy an Audi, they «couldnt» execute the deal without getting the general managers approval on increasing my trade-​in amount so I had to wait until the following Monday to get a final answer. Monday comes around and I hear nothing, than I had to call 3 times and finally reached someone on Wednesday. I wanted the car and at first I thought it was a good deal.
I am not going to go on a huge rant but long story short, they finally let me use outside financing but the caveat was that they increased the cost of the vehicle. They wouldn’t let me buy the car unless I bought GAP insurance (I have All-​State and that covers the GAP) and they also said it was mandatory to buy the 36mo –36k mile warranty package.
They prey on people that have a hard time getting a loan and jack you on the interest rates, I was approved at 2.1% from my own financing and when they said I had to buy the car through their financing it was at 4.7% (it was at the same bank!). They have lower prices than any other dealership in New England but how do they make money? They make their money on interest rates and warranties which in fact was full of disclaimers (They have minimal coverage and I can only go Automax).
Do your homework before going into this place. Its only a matter of time until restrictions come down on places like that but dont go in there and think you are getting a deal!!! If you have to get a higher interest rate to buy a car, go in there and get approved by a lender then use that approval and go buy a car private sale or another location. They are as shady as it gets and they pull any trick in the book on you or your family

We walked in and stood at the counter for awhile before someone decided he was bothered enough to help us. He asked if we needed help and we inquired about wanting to look at a Honda Pilot. We were told that Sundays were by appointment only… He continued to be a prick through the rest of the conversation.
… Later that day I would call back and be told to «stop by» because «someone would definitely help us» without an appointment. When I mentioned making an appointment the man on the phone sounded confused.
Appointment only. Car dealership. What? Side note:
Marlborough or Marlboro is how you spell the name of the town for your sister location. «Marlborogh» is not an option.

Worst experience ever. From the moment I walked through the door, and witnessed my saleman being cursed out by another employee/​possibly the manager I should have walked out. I went to Automax in hopes of trading in my car, and getting a new one. I bought my best friend because she wanted to purchase a car as well.
First off, the salesmen, the financial guy, and the lady that finds the car insurance need to learn to COMMUNICATE. I was originally told I could keep my car registered in my mother’s name, that she didn’t have to cosign, and I could keep the same insurance under my mother’s name. Well, actually, that story changed 3 times. The salesman, David, did not even show me any other cats aside from a 2011 Nissan Rogue, THAT HAD A DENT IN IT! He told me since I owe more on my current car, that the ONLY CAR I could get that allows them to hide the negative equity was the Rogue. Well, that’s a lie, because I found another place that is offering me a better deal on a Jeep, which is what I wanted in the first place.
The financing part was horrible, they try to trick you into getting Gap Insurance and an extended warranty, which makes your monthly payments higher.
My friend, was shows 2 cars, one Subaru Impreza for 9K then a Nissan Altima for 14K. Talk about a huge difference in price! Apparently, the Nissan was the best deal for her, because they didn’t want to sell her a «shitty car.» That’s a legit quote, btw.
I was originally quoted for a $ 350 payment, it eventually increased to $ 375 then finally to $ 388, because they tried to con me into the GAP insurance and 5 year Warranty. For the record, you can add the GAP insurance to most insurance policies for $ 50 aside from the $ 500 they charge you at this automax. My friend on the other hand, because of her credit was approved for $ 390 payment. She insisted that was too much, and eventually they miraculously found her a deal for $ 298 after 45 mins. Granted, neither of us took the deals, because they were so messy.
This place is the EPITOME of shark-​salesmen. Stay away. Horrible experience, wasted 5 hours there trying to sort things out, and on top of that WE DIDN’T EVEN GET TO TEST DRIVE THE CARS THEY TRIED TO SELL US!

Rude people — Prices not any better than actual dealers. Much safer to buy from a dealer especially reading the dreadful reviews below.
Places like these are what makes car shopping dreadful!

I received a call back from one of their sales guys, when I pressed for service and history detail on the car I wanted, the guy became irate, raise his voice and then hung up.
Another reason to avoid these people.
Someone else contact me about a car, they were polite and said the 30K car was in excellent condition. I told them excellent means no nicks, scratch or flaw, if I pay the 500 for shipping and the car has flaws I will demand a refund for misrepresentation. They said I because someone else was doing the shipping… My advise, You’re better of buying from eBay, they’re more reputable, and CarMax prices is far too expensive for used auction cars with no history… buy from local MA seller.
