Baker St. Pub & Grill

I am not giving this place 1 star because of our service, or the items we had, I want to make that VERY CLEAR!!! It is because of who this establishment has chosen to represent them as a manager. His name is Mike. We came in there last Saturday, & sat out on the patio. We noticed that there were 4 TV’s on, 2 of which were on the A&M game, we observed for several minutes that the groups out on the patio were only watching 3 of the TV’s, so we asked our server if she could request that the fourth be put on the last of the Tenn game, if that were possible. She told us she would ask the manager to do so, as they have access to the remotes. That’s when the manager Mike came to our table & proceeded to, all in all, condescend us with his tone about our request, stating «this is Texas!» As if we don’t know & love where we reside, or TEXAS football! I’m sorry I got a scholarship to an out of state school. We asked him since there were 2 TV’s on the A&M game we thought maybe 1 of those could be changed, if & only if, it wouldn’t be a problem to those who were there before us. Simple request, he proceeded to stand there & condescend us, all the while could have just simply put the game on. Shortly after he left our server Jamie returned with the beers she suggested, & they were perfect, but if it wasn’t for her genuine welcoming smile, & sweet demeanor, we would HAVE LEFT, & watched the games somewhere else. She could tell we were not pleased with our experience with the manager Mike, & went out of her way to provide prompt & friendly service! It’s pretty bad when your server is embarrassed for, apologizing for, & defending the manager. As we sat there awhile longer, we observed that the patio doors were propped open & the manager Mike would just stand there in the middle of the entry way where all the girls work from, with his arms crossed & his hips thrust forward, scowl on his face, like some kind of frumpy prison guard! Our server was hot footed, & nearly ran into him, a couple of times, those girls hustle, how can they be expected to work like that, him in their way, hovering over them? We have been there several times, for several years, & I thought back that it rarely seemed as if the same group of girls worked there long. It’s not like Railhead where the girls have been there for many years. I would venture to say that it had much to do with a manager like THAT, if he talks down to guests over a simple request, I wouldn’t want to imagine what it’s like behind the scenes for the employees. We will NOT be back if HE represents your corporation, it was disturbing for us to be belittled by the manager, & observe those conditions. We like to watch the games in a place where we can have a good time & have fun with our bartenders & servers, & THEY have fun with us! NONE of those employees seemed to be having fun under THAT manager, we sure didn’t!
