Came here based on all the good reviews.
Food was decent. Nothing extraordinary.
Started with the gumbo — lacking in flavor and the rice… i could’ve done without the rice. There were more than a few dry (read «hard») pieces.
I came during happy hour so I got a dozen oysters for $ 8. Not a bad price. I think everyone else must’ve ordered oysters too because they took a long time to arrive. I ordered them before I ordered my entrée but it came right before my main course.
The main course — the steamed platter. 3 steamed oysters, 3 royal red shrimp, 3 clams, about half a dozen mussels, some crab legs, broccoli, 2 new potatoes, and a corn. $ 32. Not a bad price.
CJ was a great server! He keeps this review from getting any less stars.
Did I mention the flies? It wasn’t bad when I first came it (4:30pm) but by the time I left it was just annoying.

All the other reviews are right! I had steamed mussels with garlic butter; the fried shrimp and fried oysters were perfect! We will be back.

Very good food and waiter was great. Purchased 2 dozen raw oysters for just 14 dollars during happy hour. The steamer bucket was 50 dollars and contain tons of food.

Bring your appetite. Excellent food great service. Happy I found this hole-​n-​the-​wall place as the value exceeded the price. Had the happy hour dozen oysters for $ 7 and the shrimp and oyster poe boy sandwich. I’m stuffed. Good luck.

Came here based on reviews and menu pics. Well my app was a bit off but what I ordered was right. Server was awesome and on his game. He made the dinning pleasurable making sure we had everything and then some!

OMG! This place had the best crab legs and steamed shrimp I’ve ever tasted and I’m a lover of seafood. The seafood was very fresh and seasoned well. The service was great as well. If it wasn’t for staying on a budget, I would eat here everyday of my trip.

This place is not very easy to find at night. All their signs were off except for a small neon Open sign in a corner of a front window.

This place is definitely a tried & true divey local’s joint.
There’s black pleather booth seating in the dining area & a simple bar area. There is nothing fancy about this place at all. You can throw on a pair of shorts, Tshirts over your bathers after a day at the beach, & rock up here for dinner or beers and it would be FINE. I think most of the beers are in cans. And they actually have a really good varied selection of beers which is always fabulous.
I ordered raw oysters & they were super fresh & absolutely delicious. They have a dozen for $ 7– between 3 – 7 pm everyday! I am from Cape Cod & eat oysters frequently. Definitely order them if you like oysters!
I ordered the blackened grouper. It came with new potatoes, broccoli & corn on the cob. It was fine. Not fantastic but fine. It was pan sautéed perfectly so flaky with just the right amount of blackened seasoning. The new potato & broccoli were steamed & cooked perfectly. The kitchen is clearly knowledgeable & knows how to prepare, & cook well.
The Service was excellent: fast, friendly, helpful
& efficient.
I really liked this place. If I lived in the area, I would come back here weekly for oysters & beers!
Overall, It’s a super fun casual place with friendly staff, a capable kitchen & nice customers!

$ 7 a dozen oysters 3 – 7 Monday-​Friday! Dollar off drinks. We had the steamed bucket for 2, it was great!

This un-​assuming, little seafood place is OUTSTANDING! The service was great and our server was very easy on the eyes ;). We found this place by accident while looking on-​line for a local crawfish boil (very Satuday @ 2pm during the season btw). I went to their website and noticed they have oysters’s on the half shell for $ 7/​doz! This is unheard of out in Cali?!
Upon arriving through the side door mind you, we were greeted with a very inviting and casual atmosphere. We were promptly seated and given menus. We were there so early it was still lunch which runs until 4pm, which is great for those late workers.
Prices for thei lunch dishes were reasonable and were what you can expect for seafood. My friend and i both ordered a dozen oysters each and I had the grilled amberjack with steamed broccoli and my friend had the 1lb of steamed shrimp. My fish was flaky and flavorful without being dry and his shrimp were great as well. I would have like to see a spicy option for the shrimp.
We will be going back tomorrow for the crawfish boil which btw is 2lbs for $ 12 or 4lbs for $ 25 with a pitcher of Bud Light :). Do yourself a favor and skip the chain restaurants and go to this place NOW! Cheers!

My wife & I had dinner at Rick’s yesterday afternoon. The seafood was absolutely scrumptious! The seafood tasted very fresh and the pricing was very fair. The raw oysters from Louisiana were large and very good.
I lived in Florida for 42 years and enjoyed seafood all those years, but nothing as good as Rick’s.
The building itself is nothing to brag about, but I didn’t go there for the building.
Our server was very pleasant and professional.
Every time we come back to the beach, we will definitely go back to Rick’s. Enough said!!!

The food was DELICIOUS and the service was OUTSTANDING!!! Big shout out to our waiter, Ian. He was superb!!! My family and I will definitely come back here on our next trip to the Fort Walton Beach area.
We ordered the Casino & Rockefeller Oysters. You can not go wrong with these. Check out my pics. We also ordered a fish & shrimp dinner and a steamed seafood platter. Both were GREAT!!!

We wanted to get away from the fast pace of the tourist area today and soak up the rain while getting some dinner. We decided to come here and don’t let the location be your deciding factor on walking through the doors, as it was almost ours. Sure it’s not overlooking the water but the interior is wicked cute and the staff were friendly enough that it made up for the lack of exterior beauty. Each of us ordered something different from the dinner menu: fried shrimp, clamstrips, gumbo, chicken sandwich, salads, and crabcakes. Their ranch dressing is homemade. I really enjoyed my seafood gumbo and my crabcakes.

This place is great! The atmosphere, the service, the food, the drinks, the temperature (I’m cold natured), and the price. We were sorry we didn’t save enough room for the home made desserts, but we’ll be back. Being from Nashville we know all about local places being the best places; the server told us mostly locals go here, not too many tourist. Rick’s did not disappoint in the slightest.

This place looks questionable from the outside, but it’s actually pretty cool and nice on the inside – the perfect dive. I think it’s family-​run with the entire family out working tables. It seemed like it filled up pretty fast.
I wanted to eat here to get in another local eats on my trip, and I found it! My brother and fiancé both ordered the two pound crawfish special, and had quite a fun time eating them. I just had a fried chicken sandwich, which was pretty good as well.
They had a variety of seafood on the menu, and the staff was all very friendly and accommodating, again, I believe due to the family atmosphere.
It’s definitely a family-​friendly restaurant, and good for groups. I’d recommend a stop!

We were a little hesitant at first but OMG go! Very good and staff was friendly. My husband got the soft shell crab poboy and it was huge! I got fried shrimp and the fish nuggets. The batter on the shrimp and the tarter sauce was the best I have ever had. The fried oysters were really good too! I got a piece of shell which you knows meant it was fresh. Give it a try!

Don’t be scared by the outside appearance. It’s a total dive, but in the way I like. Nothing fancy, no pretense. It has a definite come-​as-​you-​are, everybody’s-welcome, vibe.
We got there a little early and they had their happy hour specials. They had specials on beer, drinks and oysters (raw or steamed). We got 2 dozen raw and a dozen steamed. The oysters were great. We also got an order of crab cakes, which were a generous size and well seasoned.
Many things looked good, so we decided to order a selection of appetizers rather than entrees. A fried sampler (Oysters, shrimp, calamari, mozzerella sticks), bbq shrimp, «Slamberjack» taquitos, a bowl each of gumbo and crap soup, and hushpuppies. The items on the fried platter were all great, crunchy, nicely breaded, and well seasoned. The oysters were the best. The hushpuppies were very crunchy. The bbq shrimp (in-​shell) were very flavorful. The gumbo was solid, but the crab soup was exceptional. Creamy and rich, but not heavily so.
The only thing I didn’t love were the slamberjack taquitos. I think the idea is better than the execution. They tasted mostly of the fried tortilla shell. The filling kind of got lost.
The prices, especially with the happy hour specials, were very fair for what we got.
Our server, Ian, earned Rick’s the 5^th star. He was on-​point. His service was energetic, friendly, and quick.

One of those don’t judge a book by its cover places! Our waiter CJ was awesome. Blackened grouper was amazing, hush puppies were phenomenal, and the buffalo wings were crispy goodness! The raw oysters were great prices and huge!!! Small mom n pop place with great prices, no crowds, and nice people.

Awesome seafood, wonderful service, great price. We came to check this place out during our brief stay in Destin based on the Unilocal reviews and mouth-​watering pictures. My sig other and I split the steamed seafood platter. For $ 28, you get snow crab, mussels, clams, oysters, and shrimp. Also comes with steamed broccoli and red potatoes. Really fresh and quality seafood –tasted great with their cocktail sauce or melted butter. This platter plus an appetizer should be plenty to share between two. We weren’t super hungry and happy with just the platter.
Service is super welcoming and friendly. Always nice when the waitstaff around you are happy and smiling.
It looks like they have awesome drink specials during Sunday football games so definitely worth checking that out.
I will say, we did pass by this place at first because the sign is not very visible and it looks a little dark and deserted at night. On our second pass, we did see the flashing video billboard thing. So, you kinda have to overlook the storefront, but no big deal.
Overall, this isn’t a fancy touristy seafood restaurant but the food quality is there and you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for good seafood. Will be back when our travels bring us back to Destin!

Great lunch deals. Today’s special was a ½ pound burger (medium v. rare) topped with sweet BBQ sauce, ooey gooey cheese and plenty of crispy bacon, plus lettuce, tomato (2 slices) and onion. Zowie good. Large portion of crispy fries and a cold McGuires Irish Red Ale… close to perfection.
My wife had the 2 plus 2 lunch combo… great fried and steamed shrimp and 2 sides, plus one small hush puppy… musta just been born, pretty small but flavorful.
