History

Established in 1996.

We have provided first rate programming and services for adults and children, for the New York community since our inception. A yoga community is in many ways a family and many of our events are family oriented. We have also promoted a vegetarian lifestyle and been active with other organizations in education toward a sustainable environment, and the protection of individual liberties for health choices. Many of our programs are free to special populations. These programs are Counseling and Group therapy for Vets with PTSD, Yoga for Children with Cancer, Yoga and Fitness for Young Adults with Mental Disabilities, and Yoga for People with MS.

A classical yoga within the main stream tradition of India. Fitness classes and programs are all compliant with national and international standards. Martial arts classes, rooted in ancient teachings, also incorporate the most modern aspects of self-​defense and combat. Dance classes are in the classical style of ballroom dance

Meet the Business Owner

Rene D.

Business Owner

Rene David Alkalay is the founder and spiritual preceptor of Genesis Tree of Life. He is a Board Certified Naturopath, a Therapeutic Counselor, an Energy Healer, an author, and an internationally recognized and much loved teacher. He has practiced yoga since 1958 and taught yoga since 1970. He is an initiate of Swami Rama of the Himalayas and follows the Bharati lineage of Shankara.

In private practice since 1986, Dr. Rene has worked with thousands of individuals and helped them restore their emotional, psychological, and spiritual health.

As a national speaker and workshop facilitator, Dr. Rene has presented at colleges, corporations, and private organizations. He has appeared on television and radio, and hosts a weekly radio show called The Genesis Health Hour, Living a Holistic Life.

Dr. Rene is an author and has written several books and hundreds of articles on health and healing. His topics include meditation, stress relief, diet and nutrition, mental health, and theology.
