First Bank and Trust

Working with this bank has been an all around awful experience. 5 years ago I took a car lone through them and now asset the very end of the loan they are attacking me with ridiculous charges.
First they deducted more than $ 700 over my regular payment from my account without any notification. Then when i called them regarding the additional charge i was told oit was for a combination of 2 things. First being 5 days prior to my taking possession of the car after my setting up the loan where the car was not covered by insurance. Second being that my payment, having always been due on 16^th was set to come out of my account on the 15^th. Some months however, due to the weekend our holidays the money did not come out until the 17^th or 18^th and they are charging my interest and penalties for each time this happened.
Remember that all of this is taking place at the very end of my loan after more than 5 years.
I find this to be unfair practice and poor treatment of a customer.
Tomorrow i will call their auditing regulator and the FDIC to make report regarding this mess.

This was even more disappointing and frustrating. I not only got them to admit that their treatment of me was an unfair practice, but they refused to return the money and were very rude throughout the meeting.
The epitome of a bank working against it’s customers.

I see that it’s been some while since anybody reviewed this bank; I’ve had an account for a couple of years and they’re still excellent. Coin counting is free (for customers, at least). You can use their ATM card at other banks with NO extra charge. They are dog-​friendly. If you phone the bank you will speak with a human. So they provide all the essential banking services, quite competently.

I think First Bank and Trust is fantastic. In this day and age of big-​bank behemoths consolidating power and making the customer just another number it is nice to be able to support a local bank that is invested in the community and get personalized, individual service.

I’ve been banking with First Evanston Bank & Trust for years now, and I couldn’t be happier. They’ve expanded to several locations around the North Shore, but they’re still a small, local bank. The customer service is fantastic, and you don’t have to deal with any of the bullshit you get with the mega-​banks. Their online banking site is great — super easy to use, easy to print out a statement, set up recurring payments — all that stuff.

The El location is very conveniently but honestly, most people I know prefer the nearby Bank One. They just offer more services and are easier to find elsewhere.
