Good selection of grain, yeast, and books, but total snobby, know-it-all, patronizing, intimidating service. Never thought the winemaking shop would be less snobby than the homebrew shop!

This was the first place I came to when getting some initial supplies and ingredient mixes for my first two batches. The recipes were very interesting and they have something for every beer preference imaginable. I would suggest the Dank Nugget, or any of their amber recipes — if you still need recipes like me. The staff was very knowledgeable but not very interactive or servicing. I guess for the regular brewers, this service level is not needed. I have been back for everything I needed and always enjoy the publications they provide customers.

Ya’ll should know that this joint has moved to 13th street, between Willamette and Oak(yes, across from Kinkos). I am not a brewer myself, but I have friends that are. They seem to visit this place for the majority of their home brew needs. I’ve been in once or twice to purchase food safe buckets to ferment sauerkraut in. The price seemed fair and the help was friendly.

This place is awesome. As a homebrewer, I come here for 4⁄5 of the items I need. They have a great selection of grains, hops, and equipment. The staff has a wealth of knowledge about the wonders of fermenting. It’s also cool how they sponsor/judge local homebrew competitions. Their new location is rad, so check it out. The past few times I’ve been there, they always seem to be out of something I need for a successful brew day, which is sad. I also really dislike the $ 5 minimum on cards.

Sign in the window says they are moving and I noticed a new banner on 13th across from Kinkos. Closer to downtown and a little bigger? space should be a good thing for homebrewers. I should wait until it opens to say anything else but this is Unilocal
