The quality definitely went down as time went on. Not sure if they were trying to save money or not, but it doesn’t matter anymore. Their being closed for remodeling actually turns out to be closed for good. Banzai Sushi Bar & Grill is going to be there now.

I would actually give it a 3.5. I’ve had bad experiences with Indian food so I don’t really crave it. However, a friend of mine is a huge fan and convinced me to try this place. I’m glad I was able to try it. It was tasty. But, I wasn’t blown away. I went during lunch time so I had the buffet special for $ 6.99. It was a pretty good price for all the food you got. I wasn’t able to try anything containing meat as I was a observing Lent, but the other spreads/curry was worth the price. I really like 2⁄3 of the spreads. The one I didn’t like wasn’t because it was made badly, it just didn’t fit my taste buds. The guy at the counter was friendly enough and the place was clean, although it looked like a fast food restaurant. I will probably be back to try other meals on the menu.

Meh– I give up on finding good Indian food in Eugene — strange dense and stoggy naan brushed with garlic and ghee — ubiquitous saag paneer and chicken muklawa 6.99 not a bad deal for big plate of food, but probably won’t be back…

Three stars because the food is decent and the service is friendly. That said, the lunch buffet is a bummer. For $ 6.99, I’d expect to at least be loading my own plate. The gentleman behind the counter takes your plate, and gives you a big scoop of rice, naan, and three small dollops of entrée. It happened so fast that I was disappointed to find I’d reached my 3 item limit before getting to the end of the line. I assume the set-up is deliberate: lentils and potatoes first, and chicken at the end. Looking around the room, I noticed that, like me, most diners did not make it to the tandoori chicken. Paper cups are offered for self-serve tap water, and patrons bus their own plates. Well played, Taste of India. Next time I decide to do Indian buffet for lunch I’m going to Evergreen. (Just to specify: this is the location on 13th, not Hilyard.)
