Specialties
A neigborhood sports bar and grill that has been serving the South Eugene community since 1964. Great food, service, and a great atmosphere that makes socializing and hanging out with friends, old and new, a good time.
History
Established in 1964.
The Old Pad was established in it’s current location in 1964 as The Paddock. It opperated for years under this name until it was purchased and was renamed The Pad. During this time notable U of O athletes tended bar there including Steve Prefontaine and Dan Fouts. It was reportedly the highest keggage tavern in Eugene at that time. For whatever reasons it changed hands again and this time a wealthy business owner from Germany purchased it and completely made over the place adding covered awnings for valet parking among other higher end amenities. It lasted less than a year under this ownership and was mothballed for approximately 3 years until Don and Cheryle McCabe purchased it and reopened it under the name of The Old Pad. They operated it for 14 years until the current owner purchased it in November 2005.
Meet the Business Owner
LaMonte C.
Business Owner
An Oregon native born in Roseburg, raised in Junction City and a graduate of Southern Oregon University. After college I enjoyed a corporate career in the automotive, and automotive finance business including stints in Spokane, WA, Portland OR, and Southern California. Having grown tired of the corporate grind, like many others, decided to cash in my chips and go for the proverbial golden ring. Thus, here I am at The Old Pad enjoying my days cooking in the kitchen (on a regular basis) and chatting up regulars and new patrons alike. My hobbies include riding motorcycles and camping with friends in the summer, snow skiing in the winter, and wine tasting whenever the opportunity presents itself. One of the most gratifying parts of my life is being a part of The Old Pad and what it represents to the community. To be honest The Old Pad owns me, I’m just a caretaker of the legacy.
