I delivered my daughter here 4 days ago. Before i explain why they didnt recieve all five stars– let me say that the care we received from the nurses and midwives (and even from the room service and cleaning people!) was exceptional 90% of our stay.
We did have two midwives however– that (even considering they work only 12 hour shifts) nearly ruined our entire 3 day visit.
Leslie and Dee stand out as the coldest most insensitive midwives we encountered. Leslie was SO rough when checking to see if I was dilating I started shaking and crying from the pain and sheer terror at the thought that if our baby DID come in the next 12 hours– she would be the one to deliver her. Seeing as how i was a week late (and in the middle of being induced) ive been checked for dilation more times than i can count. This though, was the first time it had been handled so roughly that i bled afterwards. She was in my room for almost 5 minutes after this incident and never once asked if i was okay, or apologized for her roughness, even though I was balling inconsolably. In addition her bedside manner was condescending and she was very very bossy.
Dee was nowhere near as bad as Leslie, still her bedside manner was surprisingly cold. Upon being discharged, A volunteer came to the door of my room with a wheelchair. Dee instructed the volunteer to stay at the door with the chair, that she didn’t need to come into the room, because Dee would help me and the baby over to it. MIND YOU– I’m sitting on the opposite side of a very long room, baby in my arms, and I had just given birth via emergency c-​section a mere 48 hours earlier… Dee approaches me, grabs my baby, walks over to the wheelchair and stands there looking at me so as to say– «anytime now…» Of course I ended up hobbling the entire length of the room by myself.
Besides these two sorry excuses for nurses, every other midwife and/​or nurse who cared for us far surpassed our expectations. Especially Sarah and Tricia. If either of these ladies walk into your room KNOW your in good hands!
I’m just glad that after all is said and done, we have our beautiful baby girl here with us now. That’s all that really matters.
