JC’s British & 4x4

JC’s is honest and fair on their service and pricing. I brought my Rover in there for some pretty expensive service and after they did some looking around they called me and told me I needed less work than I signed up for. Saved me some cash and I got my car back sooner. I have taken my vehicle there 3 – 4 times and have never been disappointed.

Yo yo! I brings my Rover here when that mufuh needs a fix or tune which, sadly since is a RR, is all too often. JC’s ain’t as cheap as the mexican dude on my cornah but, man, they knows they sheeeeiiiit. My girl Trish always be on point with the repair updates. She also work with my extended warranty company to make sure as much as possible be covered by dem cheap bastards. One time, when my truck was taking longer than expected to fix, Jeff even loan me his personal whip to drive for a few days while a new tool came in. Man, that is service. Don’t worry, Jeff, I ain’t have no ladies up in there. I gots respect, yo!

Went in on November to get some dealer recommended services done and they were awesome, they found things that were critical and missed by the dealer on Broadway. I was very impressed and determined to never go anywhere else, until today. I called to set up a brake service and was quoted a price higher than all the dealerships in the state. I noticed they had done install work last time i was in for customers who had purchased parts with Atlantic British or from the dealer, so I asked about that route since the certified part costs less than $ 250 with shipping. You would have thought I’d suggested the woman jump off a cliff for all the attitude she gave me, saying I clearly didn’t want safe parts on my car. Excuse me? Never going back. I don’t need to pay dealer prices or more for attitude and being stranded across town while they work on the car.

The team at JC’s provides exemplary service and the quality of their work is unmatched. I have an aging 2006 RR Sport and with any automobile approaching 10 years on the road things are bound to need repair. While nothing on a Range Rover is cheap, JC’s offers extremely competitive rates and the thoroughness/​attention to detail was astonishing. Other garages had looked my heating issue only to charge me for diagnostics without the expertise to resolve the issue. Let the experts do what they do best. Bottom line: JC’s is the only place to take your Land Rover in Colorado.

Great people. Knowledgeable. I did not get treated like a number in assembly line like at the competitors. But expensive ! for the repairs I had done. Actually paid more than dealer pricing. Unfortunate because I would rather solely do business with indys like JC but I will need to shop around in the future for better pricing.

Based on Unilocal reviews, I brought the 2006 Range Rover in to have three things done — Check Engine light for left bank too lean, oil change, and to repair a serious shuddering issue that made the car difficult to drive. I explained in detail to the tech what I had done to try to address the shuddering issue — mainly, that all four wheels had been rotated and balanced the week prior to bringing it in and that it made no difference.
Round one:
Check engine light is a mystery. Real time monitoring shows no issues. $ 150 or so for a fuel injector cleaning that they can’t guarantee will fix the problem. I can accept that — and I do appreciate the warning upfront that it might not make any difference because everything seems OK. I opted to not have this work done.
Oil changed.
Shuddering is narrowed down to rear brakes. Rotors and pads are shot due to a sticking parking brake. Rotors and pads replaced.
Big upsell attempt (~$ 800) for little issues and services that are due. Yeah, OK — I am getting used to that — and really, if they find a problem it’s good that they tell me. However, on first trip to a business — it kind of freaks me out. Cannot put a finger on that one… probably more my issue than theirs. ;-)
Bill ~$ 1000. Yeah, OK. That’s not exactly cheap but parts & labor for these cars are expensive and I understand that — they are not one of the most expensive cars to maintain in the world for nothing.
So — here’s where it starts going off the tracks. When we pick it up the tech tells me it’s fixed but I ought to consider getting my tires rotated and balanced. Well, hmmm. I just did that and I told him so when I dropped it off. I get in and drive home. The shuddering problem is not fixed, the brakes get hot as hell driving home (45 miles up I-​70 westbound) and brakes are burning up when I get home. Dang. My initial response to this is «OK then — next!!».
Then, about a week later I got a «thanks for doing business with us» e-​mail that suggests I write a Unilocal review. Well, at that point it would have been a one star review for sure. Basically we paid $ 1000 for an oil change. So I replied to the e-​mail and said so. To be fair, I was busy on business and had not reached out to them yet about the problem not being fixed — and to be honest, my first reaction was to take it elsewhere — I’m not good at being a dissatisfied customer and having to go back to a business when I’m already not particularly happy with their work.
This is when Jeff (owner) stepped in.
Round two:
Jeff offers a loaner for no charge if we will bring it in and let him have a good look at it. Hmm, well, OK, that is frankly a very generous offer. So we decide to give them another shot.
Jeff drives the car around for a few days — certainly he realizes there is a problem and he then spent (I don’t know how many) hours diagnosing the issue.
Check engine light — same diagnosis — that’s fine. I had not brought this up as an issue, but he wanted to check into it anyway. I appreciate that.
Shuddering turns out to be the the rear brake calipers not releasing correctly. Rear parking brake was not sticking as previously diagnosed. It was obvious to me that Jeff had personally spent a lot of time figuring out the true root cause and he was very confident that he had found it.
Jeff replaces the new rotors they had put on previously under warranty and replaced the calipers for ~$ 600. This solved the problem.
So here’s my take: Originally the garage addressed the effect and not the cause. That happens, but with their excellent reputation that surprised me. The one thing I will say about the original trip there is that I think they knew they hadn’t solved the problem (told me to go and get the tires balanced), but they told me that they had. If they had called me back up and said «sh*t, that didn’t solve the problem» and gone into it deeper that would have been a better outcome from the first trip to the garage.
But let me be very clear — once Jeff got wind of the problem he was absolutely bound and determined to turn our experience around — and he did just that. It’s very clear that he has earned his reputation, and eventually my problem was solved, but only because Jeff stepped up to the plate.
I *would* recommend this garage — but at the first thing that «makes you go hmmmm» — get in touch with Jeff.

The guys at JC’s are OUTSTANDING !! After bringing my LR3 in for service, they made me feel at right at home, and went over my rig with a fine tooth comb. After getting the recommended service done, I was good to go. The truck rode great, then I had a tie rod break on me. I brought it back in, and Mike said that the issue was a warranty repair (no charge) that they would honor. To say the least, I was truly impressed with their professionalism and outstanding customer service. If you own a Land Rover and live anywhere near Englewood CO, I recommend that you visit the guys at JC’s British & 4 X 4 !!

They did an awesome job on my classic 1994 Range Rover! They were very transparent in explaining the repairs and even educated me on my vehicle. Super friendly guys and their turnaround time was exceptional. I’ll definitely bring my RR back and recommend them.

I don’t know if Craig is an actual mechanic or a service advisor-​salesmen. Not happy with the only option to get my vehicle running properly would cost me at least $ 8,569.00! And then told about another customer that gave them his vehicle and received $ 500.00 to settle the bill. Been driving it with a small leak for over 3 years. I am sure that they will have a clever come back and all, but all I know is that its running. Sorry that this shop has changed for the worse in my opinion. Better have deep pockets if your Land Rover is in need of repair here.

I’ve used Jeff and Co. for a number of years on a number of different Rovers. In every case, they’ve been friendly, efficient, and always solved my problems to get things going better than new.
The rates for diagnosis are reasonable, and the diagnosis is accompanied by as much explanation and discussion as you need to clearly understand the problems.
As a frequent do-​it-​myself-​er, I’ve also used JC for parts and advice, and found them to be helpful and competitively priced with many of the mail order places, too.
JC’s is a treasure and it’s good to know that there’s an honest, reliable, and extremely competent mechanic who’s there for me and my Rover.
As for other reviewers who feel that it’s unreasonable to charge for diagnosis, that certainly seems like an unfair expectation. I certainly don’t work for free, nor do I expect that I should get something from a mechanic at a discount just to make me want to get the work done there. If a mechanic does that, for me, it’s a red flag — they’ll get paid for the work they’ve done to «diagnose» by inflating the cost or extent of the repairs. I’d rather just have an honest mechanic, and pay him for his work.

I took my LR3 to JC’s this week for an inspection to check on the vehicle since I’m going on a long road trip. The team here is honest, friendly, knowledgable, and easy to work with. Their pricing was very fair, and less expensive than the dealership. When I asked them which repairs were needed and which repairs were nice to haves, they were very transparent and honest. They delivered the car on time and even had the parts needed in house.
Would recommend them.

Have to agree with Nicholas D. on this one as I was really disappointed with my experience as well. I got the feeling that they weren’t being completely honest with me. If you are not part of their precious «Solihull Society» they treat you like second priority. I was outwardly disappointed with my service and they didn’t do a single thing to remedy it. To say the least, I haven’t been here since and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I have taken my LR4 to JC’s British twice. The first time was after we received an estimate for the dealership to make some scheduled repairs (new brake pads and rotors). JC’s beat their price by 20% and delieved a much higher level of customer service. I brought the car to them for a second time about a year later after being told by the dealership that the vechicle was due for «scheduled» maintenance. JC’s performed the «scheduled» maintance (i.e. changed the oil and air filters) while performing an inspection of the rest of the car. They walked me through why some of the other «repairs» that the dealership was planning on doing were not needed at this time. They are knowledgable, their service is top notch and their prices are fair. I feel very comfortable with JC’s and will continue to bring my Land Rover to them in the future.

As if finally committing to an LR3 purchase didn’t already have me giddy with excitement while simultaneously frazzled over possible ownership adventures (read: possible repair costs), deciding on which repair shop to have on speed dial just added another level of crazy to my life.
When I realized it was time to get rid of the rear-​wheel drive, I took my time learning about possible replacements. I dropped in to JC’s British and asked a lot of questions about typical initial maintenance and repair costs, as well as typical issues depending on year/​make/​model.
I was impressed with the impartial feedback and even more impressed that at no time in my unannounced visit, did Robert make make feel like I was wasting his time. On the contrary, he seemed genuinely pleased to give me the information I was asking.
A co-​worker and I were both in the market for new rides, so we were comparing notes and making suggestions. He sent me a link to a Rover and told me that he expected a finder’s fee. As is typical with us, I didn’t remember that last part…
I kept my eye on his suggestion and when I had enough data, I made my move. I set up a pre-​sale inspection with Craig. Robert spoke with me when all was completed and said the truck was in really good shape. I heard his words, but wondered if they missed something. They took their time answering my questions, making suggestions on what they’ve seen in their experience, and telling me their personal experiences with various Rovers.
Before a road trip, I phoned them to ask for another once-​over, just to be sure. They assured me that given the recent check, I’d be fine. Again, these guys were patient and answered and addressed my questions and hypervigilant attention to every noise, shake, and shimmy.
For my first major maintenance check, I brought the truck to the dealership, because that’s what you’re supposed to do right?
Well, after a number of dealer suggestions, I pulled my truck out and took it straight to JC. I asked these guys to do a check, pretty please, and it turns out that about 3 critical suggestions totaling just over $ 1200 were unnecessary. The rest of the service was typical for maintenance. JC’s costs were less, too.
Thank you to everyone at JC for awesome customer service, patient attention to me as a person and not a quota filler, and for the welcoming atmosphere, no matter how many people are dropping off/​picking up.

I can’t rate these guys high enough.
After doing some maintenance on my Range Rover I told them about a strange clicking sound coming from the rear. Jeff the owner and the mechanic who had been working on the car did a short drive with me to hear for themselves.
They both then worked 45 minutes past closing to isolate the issue. The noise was some poorly fitting brake pads. Rather than just saying I needed to replace (far cheaper here than dealer) they assured me the safety wasn’t compromised and adjusted the bracket — noise has gone.
My RR will not be going anywhere else for any work!!!

If you own a Land Rover, you need to know JC’s Rovers owner Jeff Corwin. Land Rovers are the Fiat of the 4×4 world. Huh? Fiat, meaning Fix It Again Tony. Sorry Chrysler.
I recently got rid of my Land Rover, but not before taking it in to Jeff several different times for diagnosis of problems and some repairs. Imagine if you would, that he spent almost an hour with me in his bay showing me the problem with my front differential, replacing the fluid in the front diff and getting me an estimate for the repair on the front diff. After all of that time and expert advice, I literally began to BEG him to let me pay something for the time and parts. He refused and refused.
If you own a Land Rover, Jeff Corwin is going to become your new best friend. He is an expert, is factory trained and loves Land Rovers.
