These guys were amazing, and everyone was incredibly nice and very easy to communicate with. We had 5 bedrooms, including master bedroom, closet, and large bonus room, as well as the deep closet under the stairs re-​carpeted, and they did it in only half a day. We chose a middle-​of-​the road budget, and the price was very competitive. Everything was very well communicated and happened exactly as I was told, with no surprise charges. I highly recommend Contract Carpet.

My husband and I have purchased flooring from Contract Carpet for two homes over the past 15 years. Marty, Carol and Nick always provide outstanding customer service and are very knowledgeable professionals. Carol will do everything that she can to make your job go smoothly, efficiently and in as timely a manner as possible. This family owned business does Encinitas proud !

I normally never write reviews, but do read them and appreciate the feed back from customers. If you are looking at who to put in your carpet stop looking. You need to go with Contract Carpet if you want piece of mind.
Not only are they a fantastic family owned business, but they stand behind their carpet. They were great to work with on all levels, selecting a carpet, scheduling and installation.
After our carpet was in we had a problem with it and Marty (owner) came right out to take a look. We ended up having to process a claim through the manufacturer, Marty assured us that they would take care of us if the manufacturer didn’t honor the warranty. As it turned out the manufacturer would not replace our carpet, but true to his word Marty took care of us and replaced our carpet. There is no way you would get that kind of customer service and piece of mind from Home Depot, Empire or anywhere else.

I recently had 77 square yards of carpet installed through Nick at Contract Carpet. What a totally satisfactory experience this was and I recommended them without reservation. I had been researching carpet for a month or so and became totally disilllusioned and confused. The big box stores have so many extra fees (carpet removal, hazard fee, furniture removal fee, etc) I could not even determine what the total cost of material and installation would be. The other flooring stores would only let you keep a sample overnight — not enough time to really «get to know it» at all. They also were a bit vague when pinned down about any hidden or unexpected costs.
I went online and read the stunning reviews of Contract Carpet and headed over there. What a difference. The price on the carpet includes everything — even tax. You can calculate on the spot what the cost will be and therefore stay within the budget you have set for your self. Nick helped me choose a carpet that would hold up to grandchildren and pets without smashing like our old had done in just two years. He even steered me to some less expensive samples saying I did not need to go to the higher quality to get a good carpet.
Do not walk to Contract Carpet, run there if you are considering installing carpet or hardwood. You will be in for a treat when you do. Thank you to everyone at this establishment. You are all first class!!! I have already referred two people to you.

I agree with another post, 5 stars just isn’t enough for this family run business. We walked into the Encinitas store after seeing that Teragren listed Contract Carpet as a Preferred Retailer and reading the Unilocal Reviews. We initially met Marty, whom we liked instantly; loved his humor and no nonsense demeanor.
Marty connected us with his son Josh to help us with our project. It took us months to finally come to a decision; especially since we were incorporating total bathroom remodels into the decision process. Not only were we not pressured, but Josh had the utmost patience as we were going through the decision process.
We did have one challenge during the project, and have to admit that it really wasn’t all that big of a deal because we were working with Contract Carpet. I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories from friends who’ve worked with other contractors and how difficult it is to get something addressed. Our challenge was never an issue, because we always had the confidence that no matter what happened, challenges would be addressed quickly and fairly.
It’s now been 7 months since the completion of the project and we love the work that was done. We’ve been in the market for a new house, but the absolutely stellar work that was done by Josh and the team from Contract Carpet has made it incredibly difficult for us to find anything we like!

We used Contract Carpet in Encinitas because they are a local family business and have honest and fair prices. Marty is the owner and came over the morning they installed our carpet (upstairs master bedroom and downstairs family room). I noticed one of the workers in my daughter’s nursery with the carpet pulled back and thought for a second they were pulling up the old carpet in the wrong room! Marty and his team were actually FIXING a snag in carpet they did not install! I thought this was such a wonderful gesture! They really go above and beyond and have extremely fair prices. We had compared their store to a discount warehouse used by designers only (supposedly extremely discounted place). Contract Carpet is a wonderful place to do business with and we will continue to use them in the future!

5 stars is just not enough, honestly. Anyone who has been thru a remodel or is in the process of planning on knows there are many moving parts and many decisions to make. There are contingencies, changes, additions, and on and on and on. If you read the reviews here you’ll see a recurring theme… locally owned, customer service, etc. If you don’t put much stock in that, I encourage you to stop by and talk to these folks.
In a world where «everything must go… today only… free installation… free pad» is in your face all the time, and when you go to a big showroom you’ll be greeted by someone who has never changed the floors in their apartment… Contract Carpet is in it’s own class. The showroom isn’t large, but it’s packed with high quality choices. The people that work there have been doing this their whole lives… all in Encinitas and the surrounding areas. They’ve seen these products used in homes around here, and Marty has literally been on every single job. He CARES! Imagine that.
When we decided to remodel the floors, Marty came to the house no less that 6 times. Changing our minds, going from wood to tile to wood again, adding and deleting rooms, carpet, etc… The project takes a life of its own. There is no pressure from these guys. They give you the space to decide. They let your project breathe and take on its own life, almost. And trust me. these guys start to understand what you want better than you do, and they will intervene if you start becoming counter-​productive.
If there is an issue midstream or months after install, they come right out and fix it. I have worked with many of their installers… carpet, custom stain, wood, tile, and they are all detail oriented and amazing. They are prompt, polite, and they care for your home better that you do, knowing full well that you sometimes have to live there while the project is happening.
Skip the warehouses in Vista and San Marcos and see these guys. You’ll add years to your life… trust me!

Don’t waste your time looking anywhere else. Believe me, I looked at a lot of carpet stores, big box stores, etc. So glad I found this company!

We chose Contract Carpets because their sons’ names are the same as ours — how could we not choose them?! And it was the absolute right choice. We initially chose a very expensive carpet, but when Marty came to the house to do the measurements, he talked us out of the expensive carpet, saying there was a better choice for our house. He was correct. The two men who installed the carpet could not have been more careful, efficient, or hard-​working. As another reviewer said, the process from start to finish was hassle-​free. And the carpet is fantastic — we have very happy feet in our house!

Definitely quality family owned business that operates under the verbal code of ethics. We had them come again (first time in 2010 was for all new carpeting with a change in mind of padding when already installed) to install carpet as a runner for our stairs since we are a family plus a little one now. The process from start to finish with the estimate, installation, then payment was hassle free and trustworthy. The installers were detail orientated in making sure that they installed the carpet on the stairs exactly how I wanted it.
They will let you take home the floor samples to study at your home to determine what will work out for you. Our original carpet was discontinued, and the business was great at researching for us what carpet would match for the stairs and drop off the sample to our home. The simple concept of «guarantee on their labor» for their installation is very comforting, knowing that if the carpet on the stairs loosen, they will come back to redo it without charging.
If you don’t want to feel like you’re being nickeled and dime for everything little thing, and keeping things simple then this is the business worth checking out.

The team at Contract Carpet was extremely helpful and made for a stress free experience. We were presented with a wide variety of options which yielded a great end result. The installers were very friendly and efficient. We had a small window of time to allow for the install and they delivered. I would highly recommend Contract Carpet for any residential or commercial flooring project.

I have used them in the past, just used them before the holidays and will go to them every time I have carpet or flooring for my home. If only they sold other things I would use them for that as well. They were so helpful with my carpet and pad selection and accommodating for scheduling the install. They were even too considerate when it came to a situation with making up the extra carpet into pads. The binding color wasn’t what I was expecting (they have nothing to do with the binding as they send it out to a company who decides what color to use) and they were so fair with how we handled the situation. Needless to say, it is great to support small businesses and I would ask that you use this company over any big box store! Their prices match or beat box stores and their customer service surpasses the impersonal box store. I highly recommend this company!

I love this carpet company. I used them previously for a condo, and they did an excellent job. They were friendly, professional, punctual, and easy to do business with. They are very laid back, yet very reliable. This is what I look for in any company. We have been so happy with them that we are having them install carpet in another unit for us. I highly recommend them.

The choice to give our flooring business to Contract Carpet was in large part due to the owners successfully playing the long game with their marketing. The house we bought had carpet in horrible condition — the result of being a rental for 10 years with little to no care by the landlords. Before we moved in, we knew we had to get carpet. Like always, I went to Unilocal first to see what my Encinitas options were. Near the top of the list, I saw Contract Carpet with their nearly perfect rating. But there was something about the name in my head. OH YEAH! They sponsored my youth soccer team sometime in the mid to late 80s! I figured, this is a good chance to pay them back for their generosity. And it doesn’t hurt that their reviews are top notch.
Marty came to our house, took measurements, and drew an incredibly precise floorplan on graph paper for the estimate he sent us later that day. Prices were on par with the other quotes we received, but the quality of the carpet at Contract Carpet was much higher. The process of getting the install scheduled was easy and quick, even given the very few possible dates we had to have it done. Installation was done in a day, and the crew was quick, professional and complete. One advantage of going through a small carpet store like Contract instead of Home Depot is that if anything goes wrong or there are issues, you just call Marty and he’ll make sure it gets fixed.
All in all, I’m happy to give back to a company that supports the community. And in the end, I’m incredibly happy with the product we bought and the related services. A win win for everyone. It’s a real b-​school lesson about long run effects of marketing efforts.

We just had some outdoor carpet installed with Contract Carpet. Seriously, they could not have been nicer or more professional. The process was super easy, the price was better than I got from two other stores and when we had a small issue (lack of glue on one small part) after the install, they were right over to fix it. Marty and Gail were great to deal with and their installers were pleasant and easy to deal with. You cannot go wrong with Contract Carpet… this is a great company and I recommend them highly.

About 5 years ago we needed new carpeting — about 1000 square feet of it in fact, because our young children had completely trashed the carpet. The kids were still young though, and with lots of future carpet trashing to be expected, we wanted something much sturdier and stain resistant this time.
Bids from Home Depot, Empire, etc. were just ridiculous, and the quality of the carpet was suspect.
A friend recommended Contract Carpet. They zeroed in on EXACTLY what we needed immediately — and having raised boys themselves (they are a small, family owned business), they know what children can do to carpeting (no details necessary, if you have kids you know).
The price was incredible compared to the others. Our carpet was in stock and was installed within days.
That was almost five years ago. Today the carpet still looks brand new despite muddy shoes, magic markers, sick kids, dog, red gatorade spills, etc. I just thought about them today when a friend asked where we got our carpet, and decided they needed to be Unilocaled.
I read lots of reviews where someone raves about a service or a product that they’ve had for a few weeks or months… but it’s the test of time that is really important. These folks have met that test.
