Sorry but gotta give a 1 star. No parking, tech was incorrect about my back breaks and they never called me back for an estimate of price. Stopped in to their shop, had to park on side of a car no spots, and waited for them to call back with price and when they could do it. No call so found a mobile guy who let me buy the breaks and he installed them. About half the price and did the breaks the next day.

Chris and the crew at Coastal Foreign Auto did a great job analysing problems on my daughters Mitsubishi. They worked hard shuffling other customers cars to satisfy everyone. One older male customer said to me in passing while dropping off her car, this is his favorite shop in the area with his family’s three cars for the last fifteen years. I have used Chris and his team for about three and it always fair, honest, and reliable!

The world’s changing so fast… more equality, less racism, higher vibes… even legalized marijuana! Is it cliché anymore to say that it’s hard to find a mechanic that you can trust?

I’ve finally found my Auto place. Went in because my Acura needed a smog test and the maintenance light was on. I had taken it to Acura previously and the long list of repairs needed scared me. Chris at Coastal checked me in and said he would call me with repair needs. When he called I was surprised it only needed a few things fixed to keep it safe and running well. When I picked it up and told him I needed a smog he called up the smog place close to him and got me in immediately. The whole experience was good and inexpensive.

I moved to the area recently and was on the hunt for a reliable and dependable service place for my annual car check-​ups. I came across this place, so I decided to try it out. I am AMAZED at the quality of not only the services done, but the staff as well. Chris was absolutely amazing, and really ensured quality customer service. He did not try to sell me on anything my car didn’t need (which happens everywhere I go) and he told me to come in whenever I needed to if I had any worries about my car at all! The price was amazing based on other competing companies (almost half of what I’ve paid in the past) and he even gave me a free car wash coupon (that he got for himself) because I made a comment about how dirty my car was! He goes out of his way which is the kind of customer service we all love to see. Way to go Chris! I’m now a life-​long customer!

I have been going to Chris at Coastal Foreign Auto Group for years now. They are awesome! I recommend them to everyone I know. Chris takes the time to fully explain everything to me and has saved me tons of money time after time. He is the most honest and trustworthy mechanic that I have ever worked with. Class Act and HONEST
I came in with a coolant leak of some kind. Another local place wouldn’t look at it bc they weren’t familiar with how to drain the coolant from a hybrid — Chris knew.
Not only did he get me in the next morning … But they fixed it the same day and it turned out to be an easy fix… I’m guessing the dealer would have charged me an arm and a leg for this… But Coastal did me right … Go here if you want honesty and no BS

I cannot say enough good things about Chris & the team here! If 100-​stars was an option, I’d still strive to give them more. They have done quite a lot of work on my 2005 (very loved) Honda Element. Fixing things others said couldn’t be fixed as well as sorting out a weird strut failure I had. I’ve swung in there with an engine light one and they’ll check it — explain it as well as all options. I was just there earlier this week to see when they could get me in for an oil change — they went the extra effort to check the oil level (for I wasn’t bringing it back for 3 days). The attention and care is beyond amazing. You truly feel as though they see you and your safety as if you were a family member — they genuinely care. They are honest, very forthcoming and up front with you. Beyond strut replacement, baring, brakes, oil change and a lot more — I have never trusted any auto mechanic shop as I do them. Try them out, I haven’t any doubt you’ll leave feeling a huge weight off your shoulders.

Live in another part of the county, so needed a mechanic in Encinitas to do a report on a car i was looking to buy.
Chris was awesome, really professional, honest, and not looking for the quick buck.
If i lived in the area, i would definitely take my car here!

I can’t imagine taking my vehicle (s) anywhere else. I could brag and brag and brag but if you’re looking for someone who considers your time, is resourceful, and genuinely cares not just about your vehicle but your safety in it, Coastal Foreign Auto Service is amazing.
Though I hate going (due to the inconvenient situation of my vehicle (s), it’s comforting to know that I have a place I can turn too and count on.

I had a very good experience here with my repair. The shop I tried before this gave me a quote of $ 1000 and a guy here told me I could probably fix it myself if I wanted to. He actually gave me specifics on what I needed to do and I really felt like he was on my side. I decided to let the professionals handle it and they had it done in a day, for less than ¹⁄₃ of the other guys’ quote. I would definitely return and have recommend this shop to friends.

Add my name to the list of 5 star reviews. I have been taking my car here for years and every time I get GREAT service and a price lower that I was expecting to pay going in. This is a great place and they really do deserve the 5 star rating they have.

I think God sent me to these people. Chris is as nice and and honest as you can get! He was quick to point out an easy fix for what I thought might be a major issue, and wouldn’t even take any money (not even a tip!) Who does work for free these days?! Although I ended up making him brownies for his help, he will now get ALL my business for our three cars! I only wish I’d found them sooner! If I could give them more stars, I would!

My husband and I have been taking our cars here for a couple of years and we LOVE this place. All the guys are super nice and friendly, very honest and fair, and never make you feel stupid for knowing nothing about cars :) They never recommend any services that are not needed, but take great care of your car when you have problems. I trust them 100% with our cars. Highly recommended!

Chris was great about getting our Honda Pilot in and diagnosing the problem quickly with excellent communication and no up selling. We were back on the road in one day of being carless.

Called these guys to ask them to do a once over on a car that I was thinking about buying, they were great on the phone and when the car arrived they pulled it straight in and within 2 minutes they spotted one minor and one major fault. Simply told me not to buy the car, and were very unhappy when I attempted t pay them.
Solid, honest and this will not be forgotten.

I can’t say enough good things about these guys. I’ve been going to them for years and it’s so refreshing to find a group of honest mechanics who take pride in their work and really strive to provide excellent customer service and reasonable estimates for auto repairs.
Our last experience was perhaps one of the best. We took my wife’s car in because the tail light stayed on and drained the battery even when it was parked.
Luckily it wasn’t a major issue. The only problem was a small gasket underneath the break pedal.
They actually replaced the gasket for the cost of the part ONLY.
Never in my life have I gotten and auto repair bill for $ 2.89. And that’s exactly what it cost me for this latest repair at Coastal Foreign Auto Service.
They’ve definitely got a family of customers for life.

I know nothing about automobiles, and always feel a bit vulnerable taking mine in for repairs. My Lexus 400H was at the dealer’s mechanic for a simple recall, then they handed me a laundry list of items I needed to have repaired. With the estimated cost being overwhelming I decided to get a second opinion, that’s what lead me to Coastal and Chris. They took my car in immediately and I had an estimate within 30 minutes. I felt so thankful that Chris said I didn’t really need most of the repairs the dealer had recommended. As it turned out the only item which was critical, was the replacement of the water filter.
Chris is an expert and made me feel so at ease in leaving my car to his decisions. He noted that the dealer hadn’t even opened the air filters to check them but had noted they needed replacement. Chris told me they were both very clean. I would highly recommend Coastal Foreign Auto to anyone and everyone. They are thorough, competent, trustworthy, quick and reasonable. The best part is that the total repair was less than half of what the dealer quoted me!

This is a one of a kind auto shop
Several years ago, while talking to an employee at what is now O’Reillys one of our assistants was told about this place. Yeah, our office is just down the street and we had some really negative interaction with local auto mechanics to handle our fleet but we gave these guys a shot and wow, I have always been impressed with the quality of work and honesty coming from this shop.
What makes this shop different is the fact that they actually have a concern for honesty and integrity unlike most shops around the area. Chris goes out of his way to make sure you are happy and Mark has clearly established a positive culture there that values honesty…

What makes these guys special is when you bring in your vehicle they start from the cheapest solution and then troubleshoot from there. They spend time in researching each reported problem and provide the most cost effective solution for the customer. I dont know how many times we have taken our cars to the Honda and Toyota dealers to be told it is some catastrophic problem and it ends up being a 300 dollar repair at Coastal that works flawlessly.
These guys cannot be beat.
Parking is an absolute horror but they will help you with that as well.

We’ve been taking our 4runner and Sequoia to these guys for the last 3 years and i must say this is the most honest bunch of guys ive met in this business.
They’ll tell me if its a problem that needs to be fixed now or can wait. They are always watching our pocket book and being mindful of when we should spend. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone with car issues or just to get normal maintenance. Chris and team, thank you so much for taking such good care of us. We love working with you guys and we’ll be loyal patrons forever.
