Business Owner

Sweet Pea Pet Sitting’s owner, Krista Sweet explored her interest in animal care and welfare in many ways, before creating Sweet Pea Petsitting. For years, she integrated humane education into her classroom as a high school teacher, using both the skills she learned while earning her Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling as well as those developed while volunteering with various animal welfare organizations both in California and abroad.

Sweet Pea Pet Sitting’s owner, Krista Sweet, also worked at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), where, as the People Connect Manager, she created and managed humane education and animal assisted therapy programs both onsite at ARF as well as in schools and juvenile detention centers.

Through Sweet Pea Pet Sitting, Krista is able to pair her love of animals with her concern for the welfare and well being of both animals and their human family members.

I used this business recently to catsit my sweet cat. I can’t however recommend it because I did not feel that the business was at all honest with me about the amount of time spent with my cat. During the initial setup, she had said that she would spend between 20 – 45 minutes with my cat, and that her husband might come with her. Great. I gave her a key and an alarm code. Done.
When I returned from several days away, I called her just saying I had some questions, but she never returned my call. She did send her husband by to return the key, and collect some extra money for extra visits. When I asked him about the average visit time, he said that they spent around 30 minutes at visit. I asked if there were some short visits maybe, given the holiday and that fact that they added visits, which I appreciated. He said not really What he did not know was that I have an alarm system that sent me logs of ins and outs by code. I then showed him the log of time spent, and he suggested that my alarm system was faulty.
Also worrisome is that they spent 57 minutes during the first visit. What were they doing in my house all that time? (I did not have cameras at the time.) The 5 other visits: only 20, 19, 8 4 and 9 minutes. Really?!! Minus the first very long visit, the average time spent in 5 visits was 12 minutes. After I gave him a log of the time spent, he did not charge me for the extra visit that they had done, saying «We just want you to be happy.» Honesty makes me happy.
I hate to write a negative review for a small business but I would not give Sweet Pea Pet sitting a key to my place ever again. My cat is low maintenance so it not the actually time spent that concerns me, but the honesty around it and the suggestion that my alarm system was at fault re time spent.

My husband and I first used Krista’s services over a 10-​day period we spent abroad over Thanksgiving holidays. On the very first night, she paid our cat an extra visit because there were strong winds, and she noticed her own cat was jumpy. She thought ours might need a little extra comforting. Over the course of our trip, she sent great updates over email, including pictures and video. Upon our return, we got a welcome back gift. On our next trip, just a couple of weeks later, our cat had a serious medical emergency. Krista got in touch with us and had the cat at the vet late at night, and then waited well into the wee hours while giving us updates. Even after the vet let us know that they’d be calling us with a final update, Krista stayed awhile longer to make sure everything was really settled for the night. She and her husband brought our cat some personal items from our home the next day to make his hospital stay a little more comfortable, and even left a homecoming gift for him.
We were so lucky to have such an attentive and loving caregiver for our cat at such a critical time. Her efforts went a long way towards keeping us sane while we worked to find a way back home. Krista will go above and beyond for your pet in the day to day and in a crisis. She is a trustworthy and caring professional. You will be fortunate to have her caring for your own animals.

After a horrible experience at a boarding facility, we swore to never use one again. We searched pretty hard to find a reputable place that could watch our two cats while we had to be away when we came across Sweet Pea Pet Sitting.
We have been using Sweet Pea Pet Sitting for over three years now, and Krista always does a great job of taking care furry friends (our family has expanded, and now includes a small dog).
We travel often throughout the year, ranging from short day trips to longer week long family vacations, and we’re able to do so with the peace of mind that our little ones are well taken care of. The best part is that Krista even sends us pictures of our pets so that we know they are ok! It’s a great feeling to get pictures of loved ones while you’re away. I highly recommend Sweet Pea Pet Sitting to all animal lovers!
