The unpricing of beer has generally worked in my favor as I’m not charged as much as I hear from other people(I assumed because I’m a woman). Though the older guy here has always been mega creepy and calls me sweety and baby. However, today he begged me to go out with him and thus I’m never going back. I’ve also seen him be grossly racist. Don’t go here.

Gateway Liquor doesn’t have any pricing on it’s beer, mainstream and microbrews. wines are overpriced by a few $$. groceries overpriced too. buys: lay’s kettle cooked chips, «wasabi ginger» flavor(1.49) –crunch was there but flavoring too subtle, doesn’t knock u out.(like chili does).

This is my local liquor store. I know the owner and his sons and they are all very nice. I have not experienced the switching of prices. In fact, I find the prices reasonable. I admit, the neighborhood can be rough, but to be honest, I think people leaving bad reviews are expecting WAY too much out of a little liquor store. I have lived in the Golden Gate District of Oakland for years and I think it is great, and this place is in the heart of it.

I am a bigger fan of this place now. It’s sad that people have had such a poor experience here. I have not had the displeasure of being charged different prices each time I visit. The owner ordered my vodka and I couldn’t be happier… especially at only $ 11.49/bottle :) Thank you!(PS: I will be back soon for another) :)

I went to gateway for the last time tonight. The older guy seems to just make up prices whenever he feels like it. I’ve paid $ 1 difference for things the same day. After trying to charge me $ 2.50 for a 12 oz bottle of water, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Né’re-do-wells hanging out in front close to 24⁄7. Unclear what’s going on, liquor stores a few blocks north on San Pablo and a few blocks east on 59th don’t have this.

Ugh. I’ve lived a block away from this place for the past year and a half, and I have to say that nothing drives me crazier than going to this liquor store. At first, I thought it was convenient to walk a block to buy cigarettes and 32’s of High Life, but honestly, the booze prices are ridiculous. Because there are no price tags on anything, the guy who’s usually behind the counter seems to just bump up the prices whenever he pleases and if you say«Hey, I only paid $ 2 for this 32 yesterday. Why is this suddenly $ 3?», he’ll probably tell you to go to hell. Also: there’s a stupid charge for using a debit card, which usually isn’t so bad, but the cashier will not inform you that you’re about to get dinged. In fact, after he rings you up, he won’t tell you what the total of your purchase is. He just kinda waits for you to hand him some form of payment, which makes me think that he’s probably doing something shady. I find it’s usually worth it to go to the Save-a-Lot Market over on 59th and Vallejo where the folks are a whole heck of a lot friendlier. The only problem is that it closes pretty early since it’s a family business. If you just need cigarettes late at night, go up to the Alaska gas station a few blocks up San Pablo.

The receipt in my wallet the other morning indicated that I had visited this liquor store the night before. And now the memories come flooding back. I definitely recommend«the buddy system» if you are going to go shopping here on the late night. The store is on a «sketchy» street corner that offers a quick getaway for robberies and fast drug deals. Inside you will find the usual selection of liquor that you could have gotten at BevMo for a couple of bucks less if you had planned your evening better than I usually do. All in all, $ 28.74 for a medium bottle of Skyy and a pack of smokes for the«buddy» so that I wouldn’t get caught here alone. Eh. When will I ever learn?
