My wife and I go here a few times a year. Whenever we have a large order they throw in a few samples of other rolls — so nice! The people there are so friendly and are always pleasant when you call or go in.

Delicious sushi! The shopping center is a little sketch, but don’t let that deter you!

Came in on a Sunday evening and ordered a chirashi bowl. It came out pretty fast and the tea is really cheap(only 50 cents!). The bowl itself wasn’t really in a bowl, but rather in one of those long dishes that kind of look like a boat. Wasn’t quite what I was expecting but I thought it was really good! The service was up to par and there is a huge selection of rolls. Overall, I would definitely come here again. I would recommend coming for lunch since they have some good lunch specials going on.

First time to eat here, looked a little dated on the outside but inside was really nice. Our service was very quick! Had the spring rolls, California roll & spicy Samon crunch roll– all was amazing! At the end we got a free piece of cake!!! Had a delightful experience!

A couple of my coworkers and I stopped at this place on our way to our hotel. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. The waitresses even taught my coworker how to use chopsticks:) I definitely recommended this place.

This was my first sushi experience. I wasn’t very adventurous but did try and loved the sweet potato rolls, and two others with avocado and mango. I would definitely recommend this place. We got 3 orders of rolls, soups and dessert for under $ 15.

Service was good. I came here alone so I didn’t have to wait on a Friday night. I just sat at the bar. Japanese restaurant but I think it’s managed/own by a Chinese family. They offered this complimentary appetizer made with imitation crab. I ordered Alaska Roll after 10 minutes debating on what I wanted because they have more than 50 options of sushi rolls plus many other entrée options. A small bowl of soup came with the roll but it wasn’t really miso soup. It’s more like udon soup because there were some noodles in it. The Alaska Roll was ok, has REAL crab meat which was a plus but I didn’t think eel went well with the crab meat. After that, I was hesitant on getting sashimi because sitting at the sushi bar I could see the fish wasn’t really fresh. I wanted otoro(fattiest part of tuna) and uni(sea urchin) but neither was available. So I ordered a Sashimi Delight(sashimi over sushi rice) anyways but I didn’t want anymore rice so I asked for without rice. And the fish came out wasn’t really fresh. At the end they offered a piece of cheese cake which was pretty good.

Great sushi, disorderly service. The place itself is pretty modern and has a typical sushi place feel. We were seated right away and someone took our drinks orders instantly… a minute later another waitress came around to take our drink order yet again, I get it that happens. We ordered the avocado bowl which had a terrible description and even the waitress couldn’t tell us what it was aside from the fact that it was deep fried, but it turned out to be deep fried avocado slices with cooked salmon… it was pretty good and super filling. We also ordered the Christmas tree which was a tuna tar tar and let me tell you, it was good and they did not skimp out on the fish! We got the standard sushi like spicy salmon and Philly(both good) and the crazy salmon which was also really tasty. I also liked the fact that they brought out miso soup and some sort of kani like salad with your order… love free stuff especially when it tastes good. Now the service. They’re trying to not have a single waitress per table and instead have all of the waitresses server you but it turns out to be a cluster F as they get confused and if you told one waitress something was missing another waitress would assume you’re done eating and give you the check… we had to stop her and tell her that were still waiting on another roll that we told another waitress about. They need to be way more organized of they want to successfully execute that concept.

I decided to try this place out and ordered the Crunchy tray $ 65, Sake don $ 17 and the Salmon roll. The salmon was very fresh and came out in large chunks. The Crunchy tray was not the best. The flavors did not go well with each other and did not see much value with what I got. Compared to sushi king and sushi sono this restaurant ranked last.

I have been eating here since I moved to the area over 2 years ago. We got food to go as we usually do. There has definitely been some major changes since our last visit a few months ago. Clear soup has seaweed in it, and there is no spicy tang as there used to be. Fried rice used to pack so much flavor, and now is lack luster Black dragon — our go to roll was sub par, eel Was not as good quality as the past. I’m not sure what changed, but I hope this was a fluke…

First time there. The service wasn’t very good and the servers couldn’t speak English well. I had to ask for items numerous times for it to maybe show up and it was difficult to order food because of the language barrier. Ordered Smart Philly Roll: good, but I would rather order two regular Philly rolls for the price. Playboy Roll: it was ok – the avocados weren’t ripe enough and it was kind of plan for my taste. Salmon roe(ikura) nigiri: not worth the price. Sushi deluxe: good. the sashimi was fresh. Overall the food is good and the service poor. I would go back for carry out.

Sushi is definitely not my thing, but the boyfriend likes it, & I like him, so sushi it is. For now. I merely tolerate the items I taste, but something about seafood in general just does nothing for me. There we were at Sushi Q, a small, unassuming place based on outside appearances, but inside was a whole Lotta flavor going on. Bf already knew what he wanted, so he barely looked at the menu. I was stuck between ordering an Udon or Soba noodle dish, and asked if I could do half n half. [No.] Went with the Chicken & Beef combo Soba Noodle option. Once we placed our orders, we each received a cup of soup(is this the one they call«clear soup» or something like that?) It’s was pretty good, with just a thin sliver(my mushroom limit) of maybe shitake mushroom, & I think there were some bean sprouts in there if I remember correctly.(I should have written this review sooner!) We were also served what I believe was some type of jumbo shrimp tempura… or possibly even lobster. I didn’t ask. But, considering it was seafood, I figured I’d just try one bite & be done. Then I tried another bite. And a third. Whatever it was gave me pause… enough to consider that if all seafood tasted like that, I could actually enjoy it. They brought out one of bf’s selections first(maybe the Alaska roll?), so he started digging in while I sipped on my soup and dealt with the tempura thingy. The rest of the choices came quickly, and I received my soba selection.(For you sushi-loving people, I have a pic of the receipt so you can discern what is what on the table. California, Bomb, Alaska, & Dynamite…) Bf clearly enjoyed his items, and ate almost every bite. My noodles were also very tasty, BUT… was that really Soba noodles? Soba is buckwheat noodles, & every time I’ve had it, it’s been thick brown noodles, like a fat brown spaghetti. This actually LOOKED like spaghetti. I would have said something, but it was good, so I just enjoyed it… As I picked out several pieces of mushroom & put them to the side. I ended up not finishing my dish and brought the rest home. Then forgot about them for more than a week. Sigh. That’s a real shame on me.

Update… Management responded and insisted on calling me a liar. Where do they do that at??? I have had some bad experiences before at other establishments and management rectified the issue with no problems. You advised that your restaurant is very busy or «weeded», so there is a slight possibility that an error was made. In any event, you are a small business like you said, but if you wish to grow your business some things need to change.
Customer service is about being able to adapt to to the customers needs and temperament. Not fussing with them and escalating a minor issue. I suggest new patrons find a better place to dine. Signed, Still Unsatisfied Customer

30 min to get a table; no place to wait; staff trying to hide the wait line by filing all those waiting by the dining customers; unpleasant situation for everyone; they should at least put a bench outside or get pagers so you can wait in your car Veggie tempura was all broccoli and one onion. Terrible. Ginger dressing on a salad was all mayonnaise No wine glasses, you get your wine in a beer glass Then we waited 20 minutes for the sushi, and the order was wrong. Finally got the right order after a discussion with multiple servers This place used to be really good. Something must have changed, owner or manager, it was pretty clear the sushi chef priority was getting the take out orders out while the diners wait and drink wine out of beer glasses. I’ll help them with their overcrowding problem, I won’t ever come back

A perfect spot to come and enjoy sushi. They have really large portions and awesome service. Not to mention the delicious food is a plus. I ordered their unique chirashi bowl. It was delicious and filled with a lot of stuff. There were large chunks or fish, spicy lobster, shrimp tempura, and spicy crab meat. It was delicious and every bite was perfection. This place has an awesome lunch special. You can pick from three rolls for a decent price. I hate when you go somewhere and the lunch rolls you can pick from are cheaper and does not contain fish, but this place had a large selection of rolls that you could choose from for the lunch special. We thought the rolls would be small, but they were more than I expected and we were all so full trying to finish all the food that we ordered. They have such good service here they constantly give you free food to make you feel appreciated. Everyone got a miso soup and salad. It did not matter what you ordered. Also, they gave us a fried crab meat dish with a sweet and creamy sauce drizzled on top. Not to mention the dessert– a cute little cheesecake. I would definitely recommend this place.

I came upon this place by accident really. I was near the elkridge Maryland area and I was starving so we literally went to the first sushi restaurant nearby. I am so glad I found this joint. The food was so delicious. They have a roll special during their lunch hours. You can get three rolls for about $ 13. They have everything from eel to yellow fish to spicy tuna to vegetarian roll options. 13 $!!! What?! That’s a great deal! I was also surprised by all the complementary dishes they gave us. They started the meal with a free crab stick drenched in their house mayo sauce. Then they ended our meal with a free slice of a cheesecake and vanilla cake infused dessert. I ordered so much food because I was super hungry and I just kept ordering and ordering. The chirashi was the best thing I ordered. I definitely recommend this. It’s only $ 20. What a deal! The service is great. I do have to say that they had so many workers working the floor that there was a lack of communication among all the waiters and waitresses. Different people would come by asking the same thing and even trying to take our order a few times. I recommend this joint if you are in the area!

OK, this place is getting the rating because the food is top notch. I’m a bit of a sushi snob and am well aware of the difference between Japanese sushi and the American cuisine that’s so popular. That being said, for an Americanized hybrid place the food here is ~excellent~. The main thing is the sheer variety you can get. There must be a hundred different specialty rolls, and that’s what you should be ordering rather than the simple fare most people eat. Everything from crab to eel to lobster, topped or including a variety of sauces(spicy and not). You’ll find old favorites(numerous Dragon rolls) and new local choices(Elkridge, Raven, etc.). In fact, the worst part is figuring out ~what~ you want to try, because there’s so much! The downside is price(you can easily spend $ 50/person here) and the strange behavior of the staff. Going into the latter, our table was approached no less than a half-dozen times by servers who never seemed to communicate with each other. We’d be seated, place our drink order, and then be approached a minute later by a server asking what we wanted to drink… and then another a minute after that… and again… and again. The repeat bombardment for information we’d already given was a bit ridiculous. Worse, after that point the servers either kept stopping by to clean up our plates or give us our check(again, repeatedly without ever checking to see if that had been asked/done). We felt extremely rushed, like they just wanted us to finish and go, even as they were polite about it. The moment we actually ~wanted~ a server, for more drinks or dessert? Not a single one would stop by or make eye contact with us! So, I’m going to give them four stars because their food is excellent. Plus, despite the odd behavior of their staff, they are always professional. Still, they need to work on assigning servers to single tables, having them communicate with each other, and learning when to pay attention and when not.

Sushi Q is always my go to sushi place. Their specialty rolls are much better than their other rolls, so definitely definitely spring for those. My personal favorite is the Elkridge roll. If you love cream cheese, this crispy and ooey gooey roll is the one for you. I also really appreciate the free appetizer and dessert. The crab they give you as an appetizer is super delicious! The service isn’t stellar and can be awkward at times, but the staff does their job. The cozy ambiance, great sushi, and reasonable prices add up to a gem that I can always count on for a solid meal.

CAUTION!!! I’ll attribute most of the mediocrity to an off-night, because 257 of my fellow Unilocalers can’t possibly be wrong. Right? If there were half stars, I’d give Sushi Q a 2.5 I had very high hopes for Sushi Q. Let’s start with the pouring rain and flash flood warnings as we walk into the restaurant. The employee(maybe owner) toting a small child proceeded to push me into a slip and slide-like entrance of the restaurant because it was pouring like Poseidon outside. I wouldn’t have minded scooting along in most cases, but the floors were obviously wet and very dangerous to walk on. As I was«pushed» into the restaurant by the employee, I almost fell face forward into the anxiously awaiting barrage of female servers waiting to greet and seat us. What a welcome! Our food was not much to rave about. The chirashi missed the whole point of chirashi. The shrimp smelled fishy(not fresh and salty), and the«flounder» was actually tilapia. Now let’s talk«tilapia»…tilapia doesn’t belong anywhere in chirashi in my opinion. Chirashi is supposed to be the freshest choice cuts that the restaurant has to offer. Sushi Q’s version became the dumping ground of unwanted, cheap fish like tilapia, krab with a «k»(fake crab), and fishy shrimp. This makes me very very sad, as I’ve been to restaurants in the vicinity of Sushi Q where I have received stellar uni, salty salmon roe, and amaebi(sweet shrimp) in the same chirashi bowl for $ 18. The maki rolls were also anemic, at best. The spicy tuna roll was more like tuna scrape roll… you know, the stuff you scrape off the bones of the tuna fish once you’re done cutting the loin cuts for nigiri? Yes my friends — TUNASCRAPE — Google it! Our other maki roll was supposed to have crab and white tuna. Instead, we received fake crab and deep fried albacore tuna inside. If I wanted albacore tuna, I would have paid for the albacore tuna. At this point, there was nothing else to do but shut up and eat whatever was placed in front of us. Don’t worry, there are some PROS. The service is spot on. Very attentive(sometimes annoying), but better than crappy service, so I’ll take it! The free app and dessert was also a welcome sight and taste. As I forewarned earlier, this may have been an off-night. I may give them another chance, but I’ll need about 2 – 3 months to recover from the chirashi that was not. Maybe they’re better at the weird banana tuna roll combos. If that’s your forte, then eat on my friend!
