PORTALS offers quality craftsmanship to preserve the integrity of your historic windows and doors while giving you optimal functionality and energy efficiency. With over 15 years of professional experience, we specialize in wood window restoration and repair as well as wood door restoration and replacement services in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In our experience, most old windows just need a little bit of love. The ropes and weights are tangled or missing, windows are painted and nailed shut, glazing putty is cracked and missing, and weather-​stripping non-​existent. Similarly, old doors need to be adjusted to maintain their original use. A basic PORTALS door or window tune up solves all these problems and saves energy and money over time. We also provide custom weather stripping to older windows, as well as new, that can greatly reduce drafts and energy loss.

During my career, I have climbed the trade ladder from laborer to journeyman carpenter to small business owner. I learned my mastery of wood windows and doors at a leading east bay door and window company, and I want to help you by providing the same top quality craftsmanship at a more affordable price.

Through my work, I seek to preserve the original integrity of historic architecture at all times, and also bring antiquated living spaces into the present with energy efficient and fully functional windows and doors. I admire the craftsmanship of old construction and the quality of historic building materials, and I have great pride in my craft. ~ Call and ask for Murph. ;)
