Helping Hands Moving and Delivery

I run a mattress and furniture store and hired this service to help with a large, expensive order. The delivery guys were unprofessional, damaged the goods, left the job without assembling it properly, demanded extra money from my customer, and then hounded me for more money too until I blocked their number. I had to send 2 more guys out to completely undo and redo their work… the damage was so bad from the negligence in the first place we now have to buy more goods to replace the damaged parts. These guys are thugs and shouldn’t be in business.

What a disaster. I had called about a week in advance and scheduled a move for a Tuesday at 3:00pm. I adjusted my work schedule in order to accomdate the move, etc. I recieved a few calls on moving day letting me know that they were having trouble with their truck and that they were running behind, but that they would be there. 4:45pm finally rolls around and I get a call confirming that they needed to cancel and reschedule for the following day. Thankfully I had one more day to move, but what if I hadn’t? I’d have been SOL.
I rescheduled for 4:00pm the next day, Wednesday. 4:00pm comes and goes; no phone call. At 4:15pm, I call them, and I’m informed that they need to push it back to 6:00 or 6:30. I asked why no one bothered to follow up with me and let me know, and Will lets me know that «he’s not the owner, he’s just the driver,» and refers me to the owner, Alan. I call Alan who informs me that he wouldn’t be the one calling me since he’s not the one perfoming the move. Super helpful.
6:30 rolls around and still no update. I call Will and Alan, both straight to voicemail.
At 7:20pm I recieve a call from Will that they will be at my apartment in roughly 30 minutes. At this point I was pretty fed up and just ready to get it over with. But true to form, they are even further delayed and finally show up to my apartment around 8:30pm…
Once there, the movers were pretty glacial. I understand that they’d likely had a long day, but if I’m paying you by the hour and I don’t have much to move, I would expect (especially given everything I’d gone through at that point) that they would be motivated to get the job done.
I actually had to start taking things out of my apartment and into the hall myself, just to get the process moving faster. And I had to go outside to check on them frequently, as they would «disappear» for extended periods of time.
To make matters worse, they did not move the furniture properly. They didn’t use moving blankets or wrap the glass on my coffee table separately from the table itself, etc. They just threw everything into the back of a Uhaul. My table, couch, etc. are definitely scuffed.
When all was said and done, they left my new apartment close to 11:00pm…
I was exhausted and extremely frustrated. I didn’t even recieve so much as an apology. Alan should have followed up.
I am extremely disapointed in that process, and I will not be using «Helping Hands» again.
No offense to the movers, I’m sure they’re lovely guys. But Alan needs to manage his business more effectively, hire additional employees, invest in relaible equiptment, etc. It was really, really bad.

was referred to helping hands by a friend and because of their reasonable prices. They were 30 minutes late but I didn’t care at all because the two movers were INCREDIBLE!!! They worked their ass off today for almost 5 hours, it was my Moms house so she made them move some heavy stuff multiple times and they were so nice to her (my mom is almost 80). They made sure everything was wrapped and protected, they kept asking me how I wanted things moved and where, they never stopped for a break and now I will never move without them again. Thank you!!!

We bought a floor model dining set from Jerome’s and was told this was the company they contracted with to deliver clearance items. Drivers came, dropped off the set on a busy move-​in day and were in a hurry to leave (wife had to insist for a receipt for the $ 90 cash delivery fee). Problem was that there were multiple new nicks in the leaflet that, unfortunately for us, we only noticed a week after the move. Called the moving company owner, Alan, and he was both unsympathetic and accusatory, saying that we probably caused the dents ourselves in the week since our move. Seriously? That’s the best you can come up with?
In the process of hashing the issue out with Jerome’s, as to me they’re equally responsible for recommending this shady business. Would not use this company if I were you, and if you still do, at the very least inspect the items carefully and refuse delivery if there are new damages.

I used «Helping Hands Moving and Delivery» after buying a sale item at Jerome’s that they would not deliver themselves. They recommended this outfit. I called Alan and scheduled the delivery and was given the standard 4-​hour window for delivery the next day. Fine. Problem is on delivery day the window came and went with no item. I called Alan after the delivery was nearly 1 hour late and was told they were delayed by Jerome’s but were on their way. They finally showed up 90 minutes after the window they gave me closed.
Stuff happens, I get it. But when you set a window for a customer where you expect them to be home and available, then you don’t make the window yourself– I think a phone call is in order. To me that is just standard business courtesy. I guess I just sometimes expect too much.
That being said, the item did get here in one piece and was even placed and tested by the crew. No problems there. They seemed to be good guys.

I called Alan about having them deliver some furniture for me. Alan, told me that they would be to my place between the hours of: 1:30pm-5pm on this past Tuesday. I said that sounded good and I’ll be ready for them. I was golfing that morning and I get a call from their driver at 10:50am saying they are at my place and wondering where I’m at. At 11:30am I got a call from Alan called me and wanted to ask me when I can get to my place to accept the delivery. I was at least a hour away. I told him that I could be there in 1 ½ hours. He then asked, «What are my guys going to do for that time?» He also told me that they work their way North to South. He doesn’t think that they have time that day to double back and deliver my furniture. I told him I expect my delivery by 5pm. He told me he would call me back after he checks with delivery driver. He called me back and told me that his guys are going to wait for me to get home. I got home around 12:45pm and they weren’t there. I texted Alan and told him that I was home and they can deliver anytime. They ended up showing up around 1:15pm. The reason I’m giving them 4 stars is due to the fact that the delivery driver and helper we really nice and friendly. They put my furniture right where I needed it and even tighten up the legs on my chair with their tools. They were really professional. They only accept cash and I got no receipt for my delivery. But I have my furniture.

Called Alan with Helping Hands Delivery for a quote to move my extremely heavy All In One Weight Set from Carlsbad to Chula Vista. I was given a very reasonable rate and they were out here the next day. The whole experience was smooth and it was a pleasure to help out a small business owner. I would definitely use them again and will refer them to friends and family. Thanks Alan!

We have used this company 3 times and really appreciate their great service. They call back quickly, provide polite and prompt assistance.
