Action Moving Company

Out of a few other movers we were considering, we landed on Action because the owner told me they could move our piano. Well, once the three movers that I’d hired showed up, the fall-​out began. Within 5 minutes the main guy sent one of the others home. He said he had a bad attitude and I wouldn’t want him there anyway. Next up — he told me he couldn’t move the piano due to the stairs (which I’d explained to the owner). And somewhere in here my husband heard him yelling «you stupid mother f**ker» to his co-​worker for not pulling the ramp out correctly. Finally, the main guy hovered as he had the female (who joined them half way through the day) read through the invoice and my option to leave a tip. I would suggest avoiding Action.

Action Movers came highly recommended by a friend, and when we moved to a new house down the street, we decided to hire movers, mainly because the house we were leaving has an evil, steep driveway and we figured it wasn’t worth it to have our friends hate us forever after helping us lug furniture down it for hours. Very glad we made this decision!
All in all, a two-​bedroom (plus basement storage) took six hours for two guys to move. They worked hard the entire time, and only took a 10 minute break for lunch (which they made a point of subtracting from the final bill — very honest company).
As an earlier reviewer mentioned, they charge from the time they leave home base in Edmonds, not when they show up at your house. They DID tell me travel time was included when I called, but I interpreted that to mean «travel from your old house to your new house» and not travel to/​from the office — so they aren’t being deceptive, I just wasn’t clear.
Both guys — Big John and Dixie — were extremely friendly and treated our IKEA furniture like antiques. We have an oversized couch that wouldn’t quite fit into the new basement, but boy did they try everything possible to see if it could. At one point my cat escaped from the closet and they chased him down and locked him back up for me. Just really nice guys overall. They told interesting stories of past memorable moves as they carted our stuff back and forth, which made the process a lot more enjoyable. (It’s rather strange standing by and doing nothing while you watch other people sweating it out hauling your Shakespeare collection.)
If I move again, I’ll definitely be calling these guys, and I suggest you do, too.

We just moved from Greenlake to Edmonds and used Action Moving for the move. They did a great job and everything went smooth as can be expected. All items were treated with care and all three movers worked the entire time. The bill was almost $ 1000.00 so they can be a bit pricey, but they also had to lower some items over a second story balcony which they did so with no problems.

I have moved every single year since I’ve been 17. Clearly, I have it down to a science, regardless of aptitude the actual task sucks big time.
During my last move I decided to treat myself (and relieve two of my guy friends and that one guy with the truck from having to do me a favor) and simply hire movers.
These guys ended up being A-​OK. Everything went according to plan. I scheduled my move a week or two ahead of time, they showed up on time, they were nice to me, they picked up all the heavy objects, got them to my new place in record time, and did not break, scratch, or dent a single thing. I guess they did leave a big scratch in my floor, but it was being refinished anyway.
They will charge you for travel time on either side of your actual move so just make sure they give you the full quote. The process isn’t exactly sketchy but it’s not that up front either.
Would I use them again? Probably, but it just depends on how cheap I’m feeling. It ended up being about $ 750 for a one bedroom move. Yikes!
