Great store really friendly employees and I get everything I need

It’s a mixed bag. I’ve been shopping here weekly for the past 10+ years. Yes, the customers are interesting (I once had an older woman run down the aisle with her cart at full speed straight into my cart). I’ve had incidents in the parking lot. It’s urban so I don’t sweat it too much. BUT, because I am there for the groceries this is where I have to give it a scale-​down. I almost want to give them four stars though just for the improvement over the past year. The employees actually acknowledge you now when you are hanging out at the deli/​meat counter (In the previous years I got used to waiting a long time just to get someone to look my direction. If you are doing something else just wave or tell me you’ll be with me in a second. It goes a long way).
Pros:
The checkers are usually friendly and some have been there for years
It’s close to my house
It’s getting better
$.01 mechanical horse rides for the kids
Please, for the love of God, stop clogging up the already too narrow aisles with displays. Or putting displays right in front of store shelves causing me to have to knock over about 20 boxes of Little Debbies last month when all I wanted was a box of Rice A Roni!
The selection is DISMAL. With many products you get two choices. One name brand and one store brand. That is it. And they often just don’t carry stuff that I need when cooking. Arugula is often out of stock. No such thing as chicken or turkey sausage. Smoked Gouda, nope. Another beef is when they put stuff outside that is not located inside. I tried to find watermelons this summer only to learn after piling my cart high with groceries that they were outside. I wheeled my cart to the door to see if I could get close enough to verify that they were out there and suddenly my wheels locked and alarms went off. Great. I got pegged as a shoplifter in the quest of trying to find the watermelon that should be located IN THE PRODUCE SECTION.
Plan to bag your own stuff. 90% of the time I bag my own stuff. The other 10% of the time I wish they would step aside and let me bag my own stuff because the bagging is just not good.
So, since this is my little community store I’m going to root it on and hope that it eventually can become what the King Soopers on 80^th and Wads is which is a mecca of gourmet food selections, cheese paradise, and variety galore. Clean. Friendly checkers, wide aisles, people who bag and bag well, and decent carts.
**11/​25/​15 EDIT. I can’t quite go to 4 stars yet but the last several times I have been in I am greeted every single time I pass a store employee. This beats the days that I had to stand around in produce waiting for them to wrap up a conversation about last nights drama involving alcohol, gangs and fighting, so that I could ask where the watermelons are located (see what I did there?). Someone seems to be investing in this location.

The inventory sucks, the staff sucks. This location just sucks. I don’t know how King Soopers can vary so widely in who they hire and what they stock, but it seems like whoever runs the company just decided to let this one descend into grocery store anarchy. It’s really not even reliable for picking up a few small things. Just go to Sprout’s or Target.

The employees here are amazing. I love everything about this store. The only problem is the parking lot. The employees from the laundromat yell obscenities at customers for «parking too close to the laundromat if ya ain’t a customer». Today was the last time I will ever go to this store simply because there was an employee drinking liquor outside (with children next to her!) and I actually saw this lady walk up to a parked car with a dog inside, and she tried to hit the dog in the face with her empty liquor bottle. That could have been MY car and MY dog! I will never go to this store again as long as the property manager allows neighboring companies to hire employees like this.

This location gets worse and worse with every passing year. The entrance smells of urine and homeless people. The employees have tattoos up their necks and faces. The store layout constantly changes and when they pulled out the 1^st Bank branch… the space became a catch all for what appears to be just a bunch of crap. Don’t get me started on the trashy customers. The neighborhood is quickly evolving for the better and King Soopers had better get onboard. Or just close the location. It’s worth driving a little further to the Safeway or the Sprouts.

The employees at the store are wonderful. They’re always extremely helpful and friendly.
But, as others have said, it’s a mad house and not a great shopping experience.
The self check outs are terrible — mainly because they don’t update prices for sale items, so to save the $ 1 you thought you were going to save, you have to make a big fuss. And they have things mislabeled. I’ve had to have both cheese and soda checked by an attendant because they were «restricted» items.
Oh — and there’s no olive bar :(
But it’s close by and, again, the employees are really nice, so you end up smiling on your way out even if you’ve grimaced through your shopping experience.

This is one of the most lacking King Soops I’ve ever been to. It’s a quick walk from my house so I wind up here out of pure convenience but I often find myself wishing I had sucked it up and driven to the store on 38^th and Sheridan or gone to a different grocery chain entirely.
The store itself is rather small and rundown, and the selection is never very good. The produce section in particular is pretty terrible. The options are limited on a good day but since they never keep anything stocked it’s very unlikely you’ll find what you’re looking for. Is every single person in Edgewater obsessed with arugula or have they not ordered it for the past month? Couldn’t tell ya. Cheese selection is horrible. The ‘fresh’ bread selection is really terrible too. In fact, as another reviewer mentioned, the ONLY item that they seem to have a variety of is tortillas– I’ve tried about 6 different brands of tortillas so far and I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of their selection. But if you’re looking for quite literally anything else you may find yourself disappointed.
I do like that they have a gas station here but it always has the most absurd lines. No matter what time of day it is, it always seems like each pump has about 3 cars waiting.
Proximity will keep me coming back to this location but that’s about it.

I can’t really think of anything bad about this King Soopers (or any of its locations for that matter). Their products are very reasonable especially if you have a membership. Produce is also awesome and always fresh. They also have generic brands so… yeah. Great place!

This King Soopers is so annoying to my life. It’s the closest one to my house, so I’m ALWAYS there, but I really, really don’t like it.
What I don’t like:
–There are no arrows in the parking lot, so people drive the wrong direction EVERY SINGLE TIME I’m there– they aren’t smart enough to look with their eyes and see which direction the cars are parked.
–It is ALWAYS crowded. There is no off-​time to do your shopping away from other people.
–A woman once accosted me with a picture of her dead child and asked me for money to pay for the funeral.
–I went here to buy sausage for thanksgiving and they were out of ALL SAUSAGE. No rolls, no patties, no fully cooked, no links, NOTHING.
–I once saw a guy hanging out on the patio furniture they sell in the store like it was his house. He was there the whole time we were shopping. He should have put some burgers on their display grill.
–The bakery section is ALWAYS empty. There are always 2 sad, stale donuts and one half eaten bagel.
–A cashier wouldn’t let me use my husband’s debit card because we don’t have the same last name– and of course I knew the pin.
–The people who shop[lift] here think it’s socially acceptable to «holla» at you from their cars as they cruise the parking lot.
etc.
It takes me 3 minutes to drive here and they usually have what I need, so I go. But I’m not happy about it.

The location is horrible with a large homeless population that lingers being on Sheridan and so close to Colfax. The inside is always busy and it clearly caters to the hispanic community. If you can make your way past the pajama-​clad welfare folk who take up refuge at the «customer service» counter, you fined your way to the poorly organized store. I found rotten produce, bad meat, and often opened containers of food that people steal. The deli employees are not all together competent. I have stood for 5 minutes before even being acknowledged, and the only response I got was hold on. The staff will openly complain about there job while cutting meat, or say nasty things about customers. So bloody unprofessional. It’s a crappy store, smack-​dab in the middle of the barrio. KS is over priced anyway, but this location its pretty rancid. It’s what you get when you live with this kind of suck.

This place is still just so-​so between its… ahem… choice clientele (rattling bass coming from the beat up white Ford Expedition and/​or near cat rights out in the parking lot, much??), its constant hosting of some kid selling something (cookies? candy bars? tickets to the moon?), and its employees taking their smoke breaks literally right outside the store next to the soda machines…
But once upon a time I found an item marked for a certain price and when it got rang up at the register it came up with the non-​sale price. Upon pointing this out to the employee (who was actually quite nice), I received the item for free. I guess this policy is to King Soopers what «animal style» is to In-​and-​Out — it’s not on the menu, but it has been known to happen.

This King’s is pretty good. it stays clean and there is a 1^st bank inside. I’ve seen some weird things go down here though. fights at the self-​checkout, purse-​snachers in the parking lot. This area isn’t what it used to be. I use king’s to buy shit tickets and dishsoap and food items u can’t find at sunflower.

Big. A huge selection of tortillas. Why is that?
No Boar’s Head meats in the deli. Don’t poor people like better quality cold cuts?
This is not the Glendale King Soopers.

Well, I still love the cheap bread (kalamata loaves keep popping up on that back rack, which are the BEST!) and the convenient Redbox rentals, but I’ve grown tired of coming here just to get frustrated over the crappy produce and higher prices. Every time I pick up a cucumber, I ask myself why am I paying a buck when a bigger, fresher one at SFM is just 50 cents? Why are their bell peppers $ 2 or more and 2-​for-​1 at SFM? Same with all of my staples like garlic, limes, lemons, tomatoes, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, apples, potatoes, avocadoes… everything is double the price and usually poorer quality. Even when on sale, the prices can’t touch my old neighborhood favorite so I’m going to have to buck up and get over the close proximity of this store and get SFM back in my weekly rotation if I want any fresh fruit or veggies in the future without breaking the bank. The last straw was the carton of eggs I picked up last week. While the cheapest eggs at SFM have always done me right, apparently that’s not true of the 99-​cent carton here because they fried up funny, tasted off and neither my husband nor I finished them at breakfast. It was almost enough to make me consider finally going organic.

YAY! Its my local grocery.
Very average cleanliness and selection– however really no complaints from me either.
I live close by so in nice weather I like to walk over to shop.
There are a few other great stores located in the same shopping center:
Ace Hardware, Target, Chase Bank which I also frequent– so it is nice to get everything done in one stop.
Traffic from Sheridan can be slow — so plan your trips.

They have a nice selection but this place is very ghetto. I feel like I need to wear a bulletproof vest when I go here. If you thought the ‘people of walmart’ website was interesting, they should make one for this place. SCARY!

Late night food haunt. The place to stop for noshes at 2 AM. They’re open 24 – 7, so you can always feed that spontaneous craving for whatever floats your boat.
Best shopped at after 10 in my experience, before that you end up with huge crowds. Not that bad of an issue for a midnite culinary maestro such as myself, I can stop by for anything from bagged salads to sweet potatoes. If you stop by too late, you have to thread through the restocking efforts. Get the freshest food you can, is how I view it.
Decent selection on Veggies, and always seem to have in stock what I need for the latest food experiment. Bakery is good, and very big. Some odd stuff, like they don’t frost the apple turnovers (like I really need more frosting).Helpful clerks who seem to know where everything is, as clean as I could expect with that much traffic, and wells tocked in ethnic and oddball needs. I will return.

I reviewed this King Soopers previously, but somehow Unilocal moved it to the one on Sheridan and 38^th. here is my prior review:
Everyone is super helpful at this King Soopers. I’ve had great customer service at the Deli, Seafood Counter, and in Produce. Yes, the folks at the actual «Customer Service» desk are a little slow… but it beats the pants off the KS up at 38^th!
Great produce selection, very decent meat/​seafood dept, and a very good on-​site bakery. Cheeses, ethnic food selections also good.
Lots of self check out — I don’t think I’ve used a checker here in years. I’m a control freak and really dislike having someone else bag my groceries (yes, cuckoo).
Parking can be a pain, as there are a lot of handicappers either cruising for a spot, or taking 10 years to park, but its a small price to pay for a decent grocery store.

I lived right behind this Kings for years, and I have to admit that I almost never went inside. It’s always crowded, always a mad house, and the parking lot is a hot mess.
But…today I had to go in there looking for the obscure tamarind paste. I was SHOCKED to see there was an entire aisle devoted to Hispanic foods! Most groceries have maybe half an aisle. This store has a whole aisle! That’s awesome, and it serves as proof that Kings looks at the demographics of the neighborhoods/​barrios their stores are in when determining what goods to carry.
They didn’t have my tamarind paste, but they did everything they could to try to find it for me, and they were very helpful.
