Homewood Suites by Hilton Edgewater-NYC Area

Spotty wifi at best. 20 yr old hotel & it looks every bit of it. Highly recommend the fiery from port imperial free shuttle from hotel. Plenty of places to eat walking distance — great run along the Hudson River. Wifi was in & out all night long — in 2016 that’s incredibly annoying & typical NY/​NJ attitude of «We don’t give a f@ck whatcha goin do!» Too many other choices to have no reliable wifi in 2016

As of 6pm on 6÷16÷2016 the hotel blocked me from FB. I gave my number this morning because she said she would call me after she checks out the mattress. No call but, she took the time to block me. She was upset that I posted it on FB.
6÷16÷2016 (am)Loved this place until I rolled over and saw this dried blood on my matress. At first I thought I was bleeding until I saw how old it was. Who knows how long my arm laid in that! Where is the sheet protector. So disgusted!!!

Don’t read a book by its cover. Best example!!! Reheated a king size bed got two full size beds called to get the room change but it was busy busy busy line. Fine settle in fell asleep great. Woke up to iron my top and the iron never got hot just warm. Once again I called guest service and it’s busy. So I decided to hang my top in the shower while I showered lol but the water power was funny because one min it’s coming out just fine next min it’s as it’s being turned off. I wouldn’t come back

Great hotel! Stayed here for a week and hotel room was very clean, great gym, and delicious breakfast! Housekeeping cleaned room every morning and did great job. Hotel staff is friendly and lots of shops and places to eat are close by. Definitely recommended this hotel.

Wow what can be said about HOMEWOOD SUITES IN EDGEWATER, NJ the front desk staff are very nice people, BUT the «GM» (miss nasty, fake, condescending, racist) SANDY PADUA is one of the worse people that work for the Hilton brand that I ever met. I was very disappointed in the level of service I got from this hotel… I WOULDN’T recommend this place to anyone. You are in the business of hospitality and I didn’t see not one ounce of that given to me.
The lack of food menu for breakfast and dinner is horrible they have 3 days out of the week that’s salad
Bar The menu choices are not good at all.
You ask for them not to disturb you in the am the cleaning staff pays no attention to that they still knock on the door.

Besides the cold apple crêpe and cold tater tots during breakfast on Sunday, 8/​23, our stay was really nice. Don’t expect a big free breakfast or made to order as the hotel offers full kitchen in your rooms; its small but free continental style with 4 hot burner food options. My husband had some «grit» in his OJ so he didn’t drink his glass of it at all. The juices come from a spout container so perhaps it needed cleaning…
Very convenient location to NY and the local Japanese market Mitsuwa (our whole purpose of staying).
I would definitely book again and try to get a NY view room. At night, the view is just awesome! Nice shops and places to eat at the hotel right outside the building within walking distance.

My Husband had originally booked with Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel for a trip with my parents. At the last minute my Husband couldn’t come along and the Sheraton wouldn’t allow me to check in or change the reservation (Change as in whose name was on the reservation, not changeour room, or the number of rooms we paid for, etc) I was forced to cancel and book elsewhere as a result. (they have a nice Italian restaurant in the hotel though that’s great and cheap to check out even if you stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton)
Homewood Suites by Hilton was just as good for the same price. They’re city view rooms aren’t quite as awesome as they are about 3 – 4 miles down the river from most of the signature buildings of NYC but still very very nice!
Our suite had a full kitchenette with allt he pots and pans and plates… everything. For the same price as I paid @ the Sheraton for a regular room.
The front desk area is staffed ²⁴⁄₇ and they have a sort of walk in closet right by that’s a mini store with food, ice cream, wine, toothbrushes, tampons, etc. You can charge items right to your room so it’s ===really very convenient===.
They’re also located right on top of a shopping plaza with everything from a bank to a Victoria’s Secrete to a Panera. Cash, panties, and bagels all at your fingertips. A movie theater is down the road too.
The downside was that the hotel’s bus stop is located right on the edge of the parking lot… but it’s a pole on barley 2ft of concrete right near heavier traffic. The actual sidewalk to the pole is a winding weaving city block down around landscaping. We had a disabled family member with us and that made it next to impossible to use even though it was kind of right there off the parking lot. If it had been just my husband and I we could have taken a few steps through the mulch and waited, but if you have special needs, or have kids… it’s very inconvenient. Considering that it’s $ 77 for a cab into the Bronx from there (Or $ 35 for Über) I would have preferred the $ 3 bus into the city but the stop’s location made it kind of impossible for us. Not the hotel’s fault but worth noting.
The hotel’s location also makes it just a touch tricky to order a cab or Über because the address is basically the whole plaza but that’s not REALLY that big of a deal. The Hotel door is just hidden from view and makes pick ups and drop offs tricky.
The breakfast was pretty darn good! Waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, the whole nine yards! You dine in the lobby which I thought was a bit weird, but not awful. I guess no ones’ stopping you from taking it to your room.
Our room was very clean although a bit on the small side compared to what I’ve paid for elsewhere, however I think the full mini kitchen makes up for the lack of actual space.

For the location I expected professionalism & organization. This hotel staff didn’t have a clue as to what was going on & the shuttle service was beyond disappointing. I called the day before for specific information on the shuttle service since we were in town for a wedding, not 1 of the 3 staff members I spoke to could provide the correct time. I was then transferred to their event coordinator & left a very detailed message requesting a call back. Never received a call back! Arrived for check in & still couldn’t get clarification on the shuttle. The staff at the front desk was polite however they’re not properly trained. As for breakfast sure it’s free but the place was so busy & unorganized that it wasn’t enjoyable. The plates were fresh out of the dishwasher & several guests including myself nearly burned our fingers off. I will give this review 2 stars for location & acessability to many stores & food chains. I can also say the room was clean & spacious. Check out was a breeze however I don’t see myself returning.

Probably the friendly hotel staff I’ve met as part of Hilton Hotels, and I am a gold member so I’ve stay at many Hiltons around the world. I have been looking for a Nyc/​NJ hotel I could fall in love with after some awful stays at Hiltons in the New York City Manhattan area; so this hotel exceeded my expectations. Free parking, 3miles from the tunnel, free wifi, free breakfast, etc.
My brother lives full time in Hoboken, NJ and this hotel is 4miles from his apartment, I will be staying in this hotel many times to come.
While the rooms could be larger and we had an unfortunate situation with housekeeping, I cannot complain because the manger Kevin made sure the situation was rectified way beyond what I had hoped.

Nice hotel, great location, excellent service. We were in town for a wedding and purchased through a room block. Location was cool because we forgot some things and there are a ton of shops right outside of the hotel. It is located in the middle of an outdoor mall.
The front desk staff brought their «A» game. They were juggling multiple weddings in town and providing way above normal service and meeting expectations.
The rooms were suites with a fridge and sitting area. Great for a meet up spot before going out.
The price was very reasonable for being right across the river from NYC.

We have relatives right across the GW bridge and have stayed at this hotel twice with our family of 4. It has been perfect for what we need– space for all of us, separate places for the kids and adults to sleep, a refrigerator and microwave in room. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and we find the breakfast delicious– much better than other hotel complimentary breakfasts we have had. Parking has been easy and convenient. As long as we have relatives ion NYC, we’ll probably continue to stay here!

This place is disgusting!!! So unprofessional and they lie!!! I booked my room 3 months in advance non-​smoking king size suite I called to confirm one day prior and they told me I had a smoking room I explained to the girl I am asthmatic and cannot stay in a smoking room she tells me ok I will make the change and I also requested early check in… Ok I get there the next day to find out I had an early check in to a SMOKING room!!! And they were sold out!!! I was so upset to make matters worst she tells me the last non-​smoking room was booked 5 minutes before I arrived… Here comes another guest complaining about the same thing after having a brief conversation I find out there was a big wedding party and they accommodated them and forces us into smoking rooms!!! How inconsiderate and unprofessional!!! Thank God I was able to book in Sheraton on the Harbor in Weehawken which is a smoke free facility please do not book here!!!

This review is all relative to the options and other places I have stayed in the surrounding (15 mile radius, on the NJ side)…this is not a 5* hotel (like a Fairmont, 4 Seasons, or Kempinski), but the staff, service level, price, cleanliness, and amenities makes it a 5 in my book, and probably a 6 compared to other places.
I will go through this as you would go through selecting, arriving, and staying at a hotel.
Location: Upper-​middle class surroundings, though more heavily commercial. There is a shuttle, that will bring you to anything within a few miles which is key. Access to NYC is easy (especially if you don’t want to drive), as there is a Ferry about 2 miles away, that runs until midnight daily and every 15 mins. This is part of the «Promenade» a set of shops and restaurants with condos, which provides access to a small but diversified shopping, food, and other amenities. Though never a concern, I thought I would mention that it is a very safe area when walking at any hour. Target, grocery stores, movie theater, and everything else you could need is close by.
Check-​in: There are plenty of staff to accommodate your arrival. If you stay here regularly they know you by name and preference when you check-​in. The managers make a point to make you feel welcomed, as well as regular staff.
Rooms: As a Homewood Suites, all of their rooms are larger than most other hotels, and offer a variety of options. Each room has a separate bedroom, and then a common/​den area with a full kitchen (full size fridge, stove, microwave, and drawers with all utensils and pots, pans etc, to cook with). They have kings, whirlpool tubs, etc.
Amenities:Gym, hot breakfasts, dinners, and wine/​beer are all included in stay. The food is served downstairs and at specific times. There is no room service, but they have a 24hr small store in the hotel, and a convenient store connected to the hotel. There is a business center, but there is also free wi-​fi.
Any issues (which there are few) have always been dealt with quickly. I attribute the low number of reviews to the people that I see here frequently (not the sort of people that take the time to write reviews).

My wife works in the area once or twice a year, and usually stays at this hotel. We also recently stayed there on our way back from a cruise.
The service was EXCELLENT from nearly all of the staff, but especially from the day manager (didn’t get her name). The rooms are large and clean, and they serve free breakfast and dinner, which is surprisingly good quality for a free hotel meal.
It’s really hard to beat.

Stayed here for a night while attending a wedding. The staff were very nice and quick to check us in. The room we stayed in was spacious and well appointed. The bed was comfortable but the pillows could have been a little softer. The room overall was quite nice though. The breakfast in the morning was really good, especially for a hotel breakfast. There was a nice selection and the eggs actually tasted really fresh and not like powdered eggs that other hotels have. I was pretty impressed actually. Also, the coffee was pretty good and I’m not a big coffee drinker. I would stay here again if I needed somewhere in this area to stay.

I love Homewood suites Edge water. They have a shuttle that takes you anywhere you need to go within a 3 mile radius. The ferry is near by to get to Manhattan. There is a fabulous whole foods within shuttle range. If you want to shop then you can walk downstairs and go to the promenade.
The beds are not the best but the pillows make up for it. Warm inviting living room with updated flat screen TV, desk, sofa, and chair. The kitchen has most all utensils you need to prepare meals. Also, there is a little table for two in the kitchen. If you don’t want to cook, they offer complimentary breakfast and dinner downstairs.
The housekeeping staff are consistent and do a great job. There are two small laundry rooms with one washer and dryer each. This can be a little frustrating if you have to wait for other guests to wash clothes. There is a decent size gym with cardio and weights. They also offer a dry sauna in the gym area. Free parking and free wifi are big perks as well.
The only issue I had is when I left something in the room and it took weeks to get somebody to look for the item in lost and found then ship it. Then the items still never arrived. After trying to track the package we saw it was shipped COD with a hefty fee attached. The management staff is not very helpful and a few front desk employees seemed to have an attitude. But, for the most part the front desk staff are helpful, cheerful and kind. In my experience, it was the managers that were rude most of the time.
I would recommend this hotel and will be back again :)

Been here for 3 nights and had to extend it for one more night! Breakfast was great! Heard there was a complimentary dinner between Mon to thrs with free beer and wine? Been to busy in the city to take advantage of this deal but definately will next time! No pool but the great staff and other facilities more than made up for it! A smile and professionalism from the front desk, maintenance, housekeeping, and service people during brkfst were awesome! If you’re looking for a great place to stay call at least a month in advance!

You guys are the most unhelpful, condescending people that I’ve ever spoken with. You do not work at all from your non-​responsiveness for 5 weeks and you do not treat your customers with respect from the tone of your voice. Even after calling 5 times every week trying to get your billing error adjusted, you have the audacity to still have an attitude with me. I told you how frustrated I am and that this needs to be adjusted. We are a corporate account with numerous nights of stay and for you to treat your returning customers with such disrespect is UNPROFESSIONAL. I asked you to send me an email for documented communication and you refused to do that also…
I am so tired of your bad service… no more… you guys really need to clean up your act all together and learn what it means to serve your customers. It is not about you and how «correct» you are. you guys clearly made a mistake and how can you make me feel like I am the one who did something wrong?

Very clean and workers were very attentive to things around the hotel.
Security is very good with doors locked in different areas so even if you got through one area didn’t mean you had free reign all over.
The breakfast was good, although the usual. Space was a little tight but folks are friendly.
The front desk was so friendly and took time to talk and that makes a difference.
Rooms were clean, heat worked well and televisions were huge.
The rooms were also quiet. I didn’t hear any neighbors or outside.

This hotel was great. We stayed for one night while we were visiting NYC for the day. We got there early and were lucky enough to be able to check in early– which doesn’t happen often at hotels! The room was great. Very cozy and comfortable and clean! The location is great too. Walking distance to food and shops if you have some time to kill. I would absolutely stay again.
If you plan on using the ferry shuttle to the city–
Its definitely a great bonus the hotel offers. However you really need to ask questions since they didn’t advertise it too much once we checked in. You have to let them know you need the shuttle and the driver comes to get you. Same thing when you return– call the hotel and ask for the shuttle to be sent. The ferry itself was great however you just kinda have to wing it when it comes to location. Once you get off the ferry there are free buses that take you into the heart of the city. The bus driver we had was crazy though and traffic was insane so we just got off the bus and walked. So unless you take the bus till the actual stop, you have no clue where it picks you up again. We found ourselves walking all the way to the pier from times square. Couldn’t catch a cab either. But it is a great way to see to city when you just walk :)

Great location, amazing views. The hotel will give you a ride to the ferry. The breakfast is plentiful, the beds are incredibly comfy, and the service couldn’t be beat.
One other plus — the hotel is in a small mall with great stores (Anthropologie, Gap, Victoria’s Secret, etc.), plus a movie theater, so it’s easy to have a great time right on site.

I am a HUGE fan of this hotel chain. This is the second time I’ve stayed at a Homewood Suites, and it’s impressive all the way around.
This time my bosses booked me here — they live in Edgewater and I was in town for work. My room had a kitchen, living room & bedroom. Sooooo comfortable and convenient. It has everything you could possibly want! The one thing I would say is that they need to update their TVs, otherwise it’s top notch across the board.
Additionally, they serve free breakfast with lots of options & goodies, plus an afternoon «welcome home» reception that has a dinner-​type entrée and some other snacks. Such a nice touch.
Receptionists were really friendly & helpful. They also have a gym which features a sauna and a hot tub — sweet! One negative, I came down, excited to use the hot tub one night, and like 5 children under the age of ten were running around the hot tub like banchees. Aren’t hot tubs dangerous for kids in the first place? I mean, hello, it’s not a pool! Then I came down a couple hours later to try again, and the kids were gone, but the water temp was nowhere near warm enough. The one sour note in my overall stay.
Definitely a great hotel option if you’re looking for convenience, comfort and reasonable prices. Love Homewood Suites!

I stayed here a few days with my fam for my cousin’s graduation. This place was NICE. One bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room.
Things I liked about this place
1) The sink wasn’t in the room with the tub and toilet. (Convenient when staying with 3 other people)
2) Free food! They gave us free popcorn. And they serve complimentary breakfast every morning (their french toast sucks, don’t eat it)
3) The workers are really friendly.
4) The convenience store is open ²⁴⁄₇
5) The bed is comfy.
6) It looks really fancy/​bougey.
Bad things
1) Their french toast
2) We called for toilet paper and it took over an hour. And the guy gave us one roll (?). My mom was pissed, haha.
3) Our living room phone wasn’t working. We called someone to fix it and he didn’t.
4) The sofa bed feels like you are sleeping on spikes.
5) The door separating the bedroom and the living room isn’t really a door-​door (meaning it doesn’t close in such a way to block out sound). My dad yelled at my brother and I for laughing in the wee hours of the night :)
Overall, I had a good time, despite the bad things. I was with a lot of my family and it was a good place to get some rest before another eventful day in NYC! Another cool thing about the location about this place are the shops DIRECTLY below the hotel. There’s also a PF changs nearby. ALSO, a short drive away, there is a ferry that will take you to NYC for an 8.50 charge. Better than driving with those crazy NYC-​ers…
