I’ve been meaning to try this place out for some time and I’m so glad I finally stopped by. This is a small establishment that serves up cheap food. I spent quite some time studying the menu as it had an extensive list of maki, temaki and nigiri(some of which I have never even heard of). They also have katsu, tempura, teriyaki, udon, bento boxes and even bulgogi(korean bbq beef). After some time, I decided on the dynamite roll($ 6.50), tea($ 1.00) and miso($ 1.00). The tea and miso arrived almost immediately. First, I tried the green tea. It was alright but there was something off about that miso. And it was served lukewarm… dislike. The dynamite roll(tuna, salmon, hamachi and tai… fried) arrived shortly and it was beautiful. It was probably one of the best dynamite rolls I’ve had in the tri valley. When the bill finally came, they didn’t charge me for the tea or the miso. how nice of them The atmosphere is alright. Pictures of their rolls line the walls. Lanterns and fishes hang from the ceiling. There isn’t much room at Sushi Q but that is ok. I love the service. My order arrived in a timely manner and the waitress was very friendly and always had a smile. She always stopped by and checked to see how I was doing(I know I know… they are supposed to do that but for some reason, other places fail to do so). In short: Food is great and the price is reasonable, the atmosphere is ok, the service is great, I’ll be back to try that bulgogi for sure and I recommend that you stop by if you’re in the area and craving sushi.

Sushi Q isn’t much to look at but the food is good. Stuck in a random strip mall, you at least get lots of parking. And honestly, there are plenty of seats available and open even in this relatively small restaurant. At least during lunch that is. Since we were waiting for the third in our party to arrive we had time to study the menu and the pictures. I love pictures of rolls. And Sushi Q had them framed and labeled on both sides of the wall. We decided on 4 rolls to share: 1) Energy Roll($ 8.95) — Eel, yellowtail, masago, gobo, sesame. Tasted nice and clean, though couldn’t really pull out the flavor of the yellowtail. 2) Lobster Roll($ 9.95) — Baby lobster bites baked with some melty mayo lion sauce. Really good. Probably the fave of our group. 3) Salmon Tempura($ 6.95) — Crab, avocado, cucumber, with salmon tempura. This was pretty good. And it came with one hunk of just fried tempura salmon. 4) Crunchy Scallop Roll($ 8.95) — Crab, avocado, cucumber, but this time with scallop tempura. Scallop tempura is unique. While similar to #3 above, the scallops had less flavor than the salmon. Total with green tea was about $ 33. Pretty cheap for the amount of rolls we had. And we were stuffed. This was definitely worth venturing off the beaten track.

It was sushi time after catching Sherlock Holmes last night, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this place. My experience with sushi places is pretty limited as is my usual selection(I’m not that adventurous), but from what I had experienced in the past, I’d gladly say that this place was pretty darn good. We got the Volcano, Power, and Lion King for the rolls, goyza and agedashi tofu. Sounds like a feast and it was! Everything tasted really good and the server was very helpful when it came to helping us find something with salmon. Of course, patience is a virtue because our indecisiveness left us sitting there mulling things over for a good fifteen minutes. Needless to say, check out Sushi Q.(Why the four stars and not five? It was just sushi; good sushi but sushi none the less. Something has to blow my mind before I click the five star button.)

The hubby and I were craving some sushi but didn’t feel like trekking too far from home soooo we decided to check out Sushi Q. Sushi rolls were pretty good. We went on a «school night» :) and it was still pretty busy. They have a pretty decent selection of sushi rolls and I love the fact that you can create your own sushi roll. We had a good laugh though… one of the patrons(who perhaps was new to sushi) asked what sushi was hot…“HOT sushi???” the waiter asked. Waiter: «Uhhhh you can try the spicy tuna roll» Customer: «Aaaahhh! No not hot as in spicy hot but hot… temperature hot…» Waiter: «uuuhhhhh we don’t have hot sushi» My husband and I nearly fell out of our chair… ok I know that’s mean but it was funny… anyhow, we’d come back. Still not as good as our fav sushi spot but sushi selection is good, it’s clean, service was decent and no parking issues :)

I love this place! Go for their«monthly/weekly» special items. My favorite thus far is the baby lobster roll that melts in your mouth and gives you a warm taste of heaven. It usually sells for $ 11.95 but goes on sale for $ 7.95. You won’t regret coming here if you’re on a tight budget but would still like to have sushi. It’s convenient, never too crowded, and full of nice workers. If you order take out and wait there for your food, they’ll even give you gyoza for having to wait there. *Note to self: Don’t call in your order because you won’t understand them and don’t try to order online… it doesn’t work.

My friend wanted to try another place when we pulled up and didn’t see anyone inside. Luckily, I told her let’s just give this place a chance. I have found a gem! The rolls were delicious, especially the Highway Roll. Sashimi was fresh and melted in my mouth. The Hamachi was yumilicious! There is only 1 server and two cooks. They don’t come rushing to your table to take your order and rush your through the meal. –1 start b/c the décor needs to be updated. It’s my new go-to sushi place for now… I’m tired of Sozo and Senro. No crowds, reasonable prices and friendly service. Pls give this place in a lonely strip mall a try.

sushi Q. what can I say. My wife and I tried it and it’s our new sushi place. The price alone for a bento is worth it. The service is good too.(only one time that was wayyy to slow for me) Good variety of rolls. sashimi is standard in terms of selection. Nothing exotic. No uni either. My fav dish just got it’s price increased but I’d still order it. Hamachi-kama from the appetizer section. Also, the spicy sashimi salad is a winner in my book. Go there, eat, and enjoy. Real ONO.

Oh Dublin, restuarants that are all in strange strip malls. This one was in a semi sketchy one that’s in the same plaza as the Copper Skillet. I went w/the bf ‘cuz we were craving sushi and instead of going to Sozo in Pleasanton we decided to go here out of a recommendation from someone he knows. It’s very small and service is slow but there was literally two people running it all including to-go/online orders AND those that ate in. Rolls of are decent size and fish seemed fresh(since I’m known to breakout in hives when it’s not). We had the Dynamite Roll and the OMG! roll and of course it’s one of my things to always order agedashi tofu. Tofu was good and standard. OMG! was amazing if you’re a spicy/hot fan. It had jalapenos in it topped w/spicy sauces on top that just made it very powerful yet worked well with the fish. The dynamite roll was very disappointing. I’ve always been used to a spicy sauce on a dynamite and having it fully baked or fried however, this one was only partially tempura fried it seems since it was half raw and half cooked. I’m ok if it’s like that for tuna however it was a combo of 3 different fish in the roll so it made it odd. Textures were definitely off and taste wasn’t so great since the sauce was like some teriyaki sauce they put on. It just wasn’t executed right. I’ll definitely come back again to try other rolls. There were pictures of everythign which helped and the people there are nice. I’m just hoping the other rolls weren’t like the dynamite one. 2⁄3 things were good so that’s not too bad.

Decent sushi, decent price. I’m rarely in Dublin but thought I’d give it a try. Take-out was quick. They gave me tea and edamame while I waited. Ordered a lunch special: California Rolls and Tuna Sashimi. Good size. Also had some Super White Tuna Nigiri. Not too shabby. Everything was good, but nothing blew me away. Still would recommend for a quick bite. «A-OK.»

Even though I lived down the street from this place for almost 5 years, I hadn’t tried it until today. Their menu is pretty eclectic which I like. Maybe I’m a bad sushi person, but I like trying the weirder sushis and not so much the standard tuna rolls. When I walked in to pick up my togo order(ready in 15 mins) I was greeted promptly by all the women in the restaurant! They were all so nice and smiled a lot. Today I tried the shitake tempura roll and the crunchy roll. They were both amazingly good! I liked the shitake roll the best with the plump friend mushrooms. My only real complaint is that the rolls were not very tightly wrapped and they fell apart pretty quickly. Not a huge deal because i just popped them in my mouth anyway, but I do prefer a firmer roll. I will be back :)

There are four reasons I LOVE Sushi Q: 1. They have some of the best, freshest sushi anywhere from Walnut Creek to Pleasanton. 2. Diane and her people provide fantastic and friendly service. 3. The PRICES are GREAT. 4. They are Earth-Conscious…they provide me with their Waste Vegetable Oil for my old Mercedes diesel to run on. I love this place and the people who work there!

Okay, I posted my first, and now I had to mention my Favorite Sushi place. The people are wonderful and inviting, the sushi is excellent, and the only problem I have is the limited amount of space to eat in the restaurant. They are a really sweet mom and pop type place tucked behind AMPM. Best of all, the«lunch special» you get at most places, this one puts the rest to shame, and it’s available all day! Super Yummy!

I give Sushi Q props for good food and great prices. However, they get a major knock for very slow service for the dine-in customers. We waited for at least 15 minutes before our orders were taken and another 20 minutes to receive our dinners. The least that Sushi Q could have done is serve the soup and salad first since it was already ready. While we waited 35 minutes to receive our food, the folks that placed internet orders were able to get their food right away. Sushi Q is great if you want take-out, but forget about eating in.

Ehhh. That’s it, just ehhh. Usually I like Sushi to swim in my mouth and feel delicious all the way down to my belly and leave its mercury goodness behind. This place, in easily the stinkiest strip mall in Dublin, did not do that for me. It’s cheap, yes. It’s fast, yes. The rolls are pretty unique and staple at the same time, yes. But will it make you wanna wrap yourself up in a giant seaweed sheet and call your self a «Human-Roll», NO! Over all though, I got take out while I was sick, so maybe I’m a bit jaded, but judging by the other reviews on here, I’m not too far off in my opinions. If you really feel like Sushi at home with nothing but your pj’s on, then place an order and pick it up from here.

I never would have walked into this place or noticed it was even here if my friend wouldn’t have called and said, «meet me at sushi q in Dublin by the beauty school.» And yes in case you’re wondering I did go to beauty school and no I’m not a drop out. Anyways, back to Sushi Q… well…you know that saying looks can be deceiving? That statement is so true for this place. Inside the place is small and not much to look at… funky pictures of rolls on the wall. But when we walked in at 730 tonight the place was packed. Here is my sushi disclaimer: I do not eat sashimi, nigiri or anything of the sort so I can’t tell you much about that. Beyond some rolls with the occasional piece of salmon or tuna neatly disguised between avocado and rice and covered in hot sauce or wasabi, you will not find me eating fish or anything that swims; I’m not a fish connoisseur… you have been warned. If you read the above statement you now know I obviously can not tell you how the fish is, but I can tell you how AWESOME the rolls are. I had the Volcano roll which is spicy tuna, jalapenos, avocado and crunchy outside… and I think crunchy outside just meant crunchy little pieces of tempura on top. Let me just say that this was surprisingly good!!! Seriously, so good, no joke probably one of the best rolls I’ve ever had. My friend had the Lion King which if I remember correctly was a california roll with cooked salmon on top which I was brave enough to try and again to my surprise it was really good. We also had the OMG roll which was super spicy but really really good; too much sake is clouding my mind but I think it was spicy tuna, avocado, jalapenos, salmon and some type of hot mayo sauce on top… my taste buds remember and it was yummy!!! The service here was pretty slow BUT they were really busy and there were only three people working there, one chick working theregister, busing tables and serving food, another chick making hand rolls and the other one doing I’m not sure what in the kitchen. They were all very friendly and whenever we asked for more water or anything at all they were really nice and attentive. Yeah, yeah, blah blah this place is in an old dirty outdated strip mall in Dublin… what isn’t in a strip mall in Dublin? I was happily surprised to find this little place and I know I will be back to try other things on the menu… just not the raw fish, unless it’s cut in little pieces and rolled up with avocado and hot sauce.

i wanted to see what cheap japanese food was like. a friendly korean lady greeted me and directed me to a vacant table. after studying the pink takeout menu, i ordered the lunch special(5.99) which features chicken teriyaki, cali roll, gyoza, salad, soup & rice. the server said she gave me the old menu by mistake and gave me another menu(yellow?) and asked me whether i wanted option C(9.95?). i pointed to the top of the menu which said«lunch special-chicken teriyaki, ca roll, gyoyz, salad, soup & rice-$ 5.99» she said ok. the miso soup had a strange(different? to me) taste. gyoza was 2 small pieces(previously frozen? from korean grocery?) 4 pieces of ca roll which tasted mosty of mayonnaise, the iceberg lettuce was topped with ranchlike dressing, and thinly chopped chicken sightly charred which left a bad taste in my mouth. the hamachi(4.25) and sake(fresh salmon 3.95) nigiri were large portions of fish that had no taste whatsoever. the adegashi todu(3.95) were 6 triangles of square hard tofu. typically soft tofu is used. i noticed that accompanying tables of korean young ladiies of 6 and a table of 4 chinese were served tea and water while my table and another table of a single black lady was not. about an half hour after my arrival, i was served a glass of iced water.(i didn’t ask for it) . can’t say they were really busy. the korean table left soon after i arrived. they have daily lunch specials of 4.95. don’t hink i will be back to try it. service– one star value– one star décor-? 2 walls had pictures of rolls, and one had pictures of daily specials. hint! hint!-one star food –one star ymmv.

This place was a mixed bag. There are so many things to consider from tonight’s dining experience. Let’s break it down. Location — Sushi Q is located dirty little strip mall. That actually doesn’t bother me. There are a couple of really good places in the same mall. As a few other Unilocalers mentioned, this place is TINY. It seats maybe 20 people could sit in the restaurant. But that’s ok. I like small places. So far so good. Food — Wow. what a disparity here. My wife and I both had the Bento Box dinner. She ordered Saba(Mackerel) and Spicy Tuna Roll which she said was pretty good. I had the Tan Katsu and Beef Teriyaki. Neither of which was easy to eat. I mean that. They pork and the beef were luke warm and incredibly tough to chew. I would give those dishes zero stars. But then, there is the Tempura. That was quite good. It’s one of those situations where one part of a meal is so bad, it makes the good parts a lot less appetizing. If you go there stay away from the beef and pork. I can only imagine the chicken would be the same. Stick to the Sushi. But, c’mon people, if it’s on the menu, you ought to do it well. Service — We arrived at 8:30 and they close at 9. No problem, right? Well, there was one other group of two guys finishing up. We got in, placed our order and the food and tea came out pretty quickly. No worries there. But, it’s like at 8:50, they decided they were done serving. Our teapot was empty and they didn’t offer to refill it. Heck, nobody even came by to ask if the food was ok. It felt as if we were bothering them by being there during their dinner hour. One of the owners or spouse of the owners was sitting at the bar and kept giving us a look as if to say«Hurry up.» The next time we saw our server was for her to bring our check. Not one question about the food or anything else… just pay up and get out. Overall, if the service was better, I’d have no problem giving them 3 stars. Conversely, if the tempura wasn’t so good, I’d be giving them 1 star. Will I be back? No. I’d rather drive up to Yuki in Danville. Even though Sushi Q is less than a couple miles from my house.
