At Wong Orthodontics, we offer a full compliment of orthodontic needs from traditional and clear braces, to Invisalgn and functional appliance therapy. Dr. Derek Wong provides the highest quality orthodontics in a caring and comfortable environment. He graduated at the top of his class from UC Berkeley and the USC School of Dentistry. Dr. Wong is up to date with the latest treatment techniques so you can be sure that you are receiving the best treatment possible.

Your initial visit will include a complementary oral examination, an explanation of your treatment plan, and free ultra-​low intensity digital x-​rays. If you are interested in Invisalign treatment, we use the iTero intraoral scanner, which eliminated the need for messy and uncomfortable impressions.

We are located in a professional building with ample parking. After school appointments are available and patients can be seen on Saturdays at our Alhmabra location. Our treatment coordinator will explain your insurance benefits and discuss our flexible payment options with you. We are the most caring and affordable Orthodontic office in Downey.

After receiving his BS from UC Berkeley, Dr. Wong attended USC for dental school, where he earned his DDS. Then, he continued at USC for his orthodontic residency to attain his speciality certificate.

Wong Orthodontics is amazing and I highly recommend them. After consulting two other orthodontists in the area, I chose Dr. Wong because he is extremely knowledgeable about orthodontics and on top of that, he is truly a genuine and caring person. His fee was also the most affordable. I am a very detail oriented person and I know that he is as well. He always tells me the treatment that will be rendered during each appointment so there are never any surprises. I look forward to talking to Dr. Wong each time I come because I know he has my best interest in mind.
The staff is friendly, professional and always willing to help. In fact, I have gotten to know some of them pretty well. They make me feel like I am part of their family, and not just another patient. I wish all doctor visits could be like this. Scheduling appointments is easy and I am usually seated soon after I arrive. My experience here has been spectacular and I wouldn’t trust my smile with anyone else!

We moved to the area about a year ago and our family friend highly recommended Dr. Wong for our son’s braces. Every visit has been a fast and efficient. Dr. Wong and his staff are extremely friendly and my son actually enjoys coming to his monthly visits. Dr. Wong is very professional and compassionate and patient. When I first met him, he looks like an undergraduate college student, but he has the educational background on straigtnening your teeth. We have Dentist insurance, but it does not cover orthodontic work, so they explained to us that we would have to pay them monthly, interest free payments, which is reasonable.
They have 2 offices, on in Downey, and the other, I believe is in Alhambra. In any case we will be seeing him for the next 26 months

Thank You Dr. Wong it has been a pleasure being your loyal patient for the last 14 months. I can’t believe It was back in 1992 when I first had braces at Dr Saltz other location. I was fortunate to see him one time before his retirement & you were highly recommended. Seeing the same staff that remembered me was amusing.
Thank you to Linda & Chris for putting up with me You truly are amazing at what you do. Even though in the beginning it hurt like hell, more so then 20yrs ago when I was a lot younger, I would be your patient all over again. I appreciate all your caring & guidance for a healthy smile. I refuse to believe that going to the dentist is a pleasant experience. Well that changed after going to Dr. Wong’s. He’s very professional with awesome patient manners. On top of that he’s got a great sense of humor and wonderful AND attentive staff.
It’s amazing to find a dentist that is willing to Listen and make an effort to let you know you’ve been heard.

We took my 11 year old son originally to Dr. Saltz when he was there (my son started off with an expander with him and I can’t say enough great things about how professional and great he was too), but when Dr. Wong started at that office, I was concerned at first when I heard Dr. Saltz wouldn’t be there anymore. After I met Dr. Wong, all of my concerns went away. He is very nice and friendly and explains things thoroughly and my son really likes him. We never have to wait more than 5 – 10 minutes in the waiting room and we’re usually out in about 15 minutes. It’s a good thing since it looks like my daughter needs braces now too. I’ve recommended him to family and will continue to recommend him to anyone who needs ortho care.

My daughter and I started coming to this practice in Sept when we both got braces. I initially worked with Dr. Saltz based on the reviews he received and I couldn’t have been happier. Not long after Dr. Wong took over and Dr. Saltz made a great choice in him. The entire staff here is always so friendly and helpful. Dr. Wong just makes you feel like you’re in very capable hands. He’s very friendly and both my daughter and I feel beyond comfortable in working with him. I couldn’t have made a better choice in coming to this practice.

I have had the opportunity to both work with Dr. Derek Wong as well as be a patient of his. What can I say, he is a pleasure and a professional who provides top notch service with an amazing attitude. He is up to date with all the latest in the orthodontic world, he is gentle and through. My daughter was treated by him also with full braces in another office he was working in. Her teeth look amazing! I would recommend Dr. Derek to any family and friends for the best in orthodontic care!
To add, I no longer work with Dr. Derek (and he is the most amazing to work with) but if I ever needed treatment again I would definitely make the drive to see him and him alone. He IS that good!

My daughter is in her final stages of her braces, and we couldn’t be happier! Dr. Wong is new to the area and has big shoes to fill, as Dr. Wong has taken over for Dr. Saltz. What a GREAT Job he has done! He is very knowledgeable and confident. He has also given the office a bit of a face lift, he’s added his touch to his office and you can tell he cares! The staff goes above and beyond, flexible, accommodating and friendly. You can always count on Linda to have a smile on her face! Christy his assistant is always so kind and helpful. I am going to be sad not seeing them once a month once my daughter gets her braces off. Great Orthodontist who will be around for a very long time!

Dr. Wong is extremely professional. My 11 daughter loves coming here and the receptionist is awesome as usual.
They are very prompt with their appointments. This was one of my biggest reasons for coming here. I didn’t want to feel like a number but like a patient. My daughter feels like they care about her and she’s happy to have braces.
I looked around and did price comparisons as well as service. After a few months of shopping around I don’t regret coming here.
I’ve already recommended my brother come here and was recommended here by a friend of mine.
When you get there as a prospective client, you get to meet the staff, sit and chat with the Dr. about the process. You can look at pictures and he takes the time to really make you feel confident about his recommendations.
Braces are a big deal and cost a lot of money and this practice is worth your time and money.
