If you are into maps, this is the place to go! My eight year old is obsessed with maps. The map collection at The Old Map Gallery is amazing. However, the best part of our visit was the owner. He spent time speaking to my child in an intelligent and thoughtful way. He went out of his way to share his passion of maps with my son. My son tends to be a bit reserved, and he did an excellent job at pinpointing his interests. He specifically pulled out items and maps that he thought were interesting to us by making authentic connections. He truly helped to grow my son’s love of learning for maps. For that, I’m grateful. Thank you.

What a neat and unique store! Truly and asset to the downtown Denver retail scene. Super cool old and new maps, globes and charts. If you are into this type of stuff, this place is a must go! Good for you, Old Map Gallery!

The Old Map Gallery is charming, impressive, and a must visit while in Denver. I bookmarked it after reading the Unilocal reviews, knowing it was right up my husband’s alley. Good thing too — he loved it! It takes some time to really look through all of the piles. They aren’t organized, per se — but it’s not a big deal, it’s worth carefully pouring through each pile to find all of the many treasures hidden among the piles of maps. We loved it so much, we bought two old maps of Boston(where we live) and the owner shipped them to our house. The owner, by the way, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and very friendly. We could have talked to him all day. A great shop!!!

The Old Map Gallery is a gem, online and in-store. Their website is well laid out and has great, detailed descriptions of every map and print in their inventory. Seeing the maps online doesn’t give justice to seeing them in-store though. They are antique, historical and beautiful. I could spend all day browsing through their inventory and examining every little fascinating detail on their maps which date across many centuries and from all areas of the world. Their downtown location is great as well, right next door to another favorite hang out, The Tattered Cover. Whether you are a collector, need a charming, historical piece to adorn your wall or just curious to see what they have to offer, The Old Map Gallery is a fantastic place to explore.

I love The Old Map Gallery… I could spend hours perusing the wonderful selection of maps from around the world(and actually, I have.) The owners are friendly and helpful, with none of the pretension that sometimes accompanies antiquey-type stores. And the prices are actually reasonable– it’s a great place to find a gift, or something unique, interesting and fun for your own walls. Even if you’re not ready to spend, stop by the store… there’s so much to check out, it’s an awesome way to spend a cruisey afternoon.

I first found The Old Map Gallery online this past holiday season while searching for an illustrated children’s map of Colorado. They had just what I was looking for online and sent it to me quickly and with a nice little note included. The price was reasonable and the print was matted in a great color to match the map, which was wonderful. So when it suddenly dawned on me, while in Denver, that I could actually visit this little shop, I was elated. The shop is cute and organized. When owners Alanna and Curtis Bird offered to help me out, I mentioned that I had ordered a map from them in the winter, and they seemed as happy to meet me as I was to meet them. Curtis, upon hearing we are from Chicago, showed J and I some really great Chicago maps that I could only wish to purchase. Their selection is truly outstanding, and Curtis and Alanna are so wonderfully helpful. I’ll definitely be stopping by any time I’m in Denver and shopping online with them in the meantime.
