Kwik Kar Lube & Tune

I’ve been here twice since August. The first time was to fix my AC which they solved very quickly and the second time was to get my brakes replaced. They have overall great service. They are a little overpriced and didn’t offer any kind of student discounts.

When I pulled up I was so glad to see a man waiting to help me right outside my car door. I go inside to wait.
This is where it got bad. The greeter/​cashier was nothing other than obnoxious. She was speaking on the phone with another co-​worker from a different kwik kar store about how her «super dark African friend» and her always call each other black and white. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This girl had the loudest, most annoying phone conversation in a lobby full of customers. Nobody wants to hear about who turned in all their invoices and crap!
She didn’t even get my name right for the record and never spoke to me even during checkout. She was STILL on the phone the whole time continuing convo as if I wasn’t there.
She (the tall, strawberry blonde woman who never told me her name) then asked if I wanted my punch card (which I purposefully left) as I walked out. NOPE! I won’t be back again.
Oh and good job on trying to tell me I need all this other stuff that I don’t need. What a crock. Find somewhere better to take your car if you really care!

I have taken my vehicle here three times now. The first time, over a year ago, for a routine oil change and inspection. The mechanic brought me into garage and told me I needed a new serpentine belt to make it pass. This was never an issue driving the car. However, in my inexperience, I paid the $ 300 to get it fixed plus oil change and state inspection. I now understand that this had nothing to do with a vehicle inspection. Most recently, about two weeks ago, I took my vehicle there for another state inspection. My vehicle hang had a check engine light on for over 6 months. Mechanic comes back and said it fails due to check engine light being on. I was surprised, but I asked if they pulled a diagnostic code to identify the problem. They informed me it would be over fifty dollars to run a diagnostic. They have me the failed report and I drove to a place where they will pull a code for free. By the time I got there, the light was off. I drive back to kwik kar to run it through inspection again. They brought it back to me with the light on again. Three times now, I felt my car had been poorly treated. Recently I have given them the keys and they gave my vehicle back in worse condition. Zero recommendations for this place. Don’t give them any money!

This place is absolutely TERRIBLE. I went here today to get a basic oil change (just oil and filter). I am told that the «basic» oil change is $ 37.99, which is a lot more than the other Kwik Kar locations we have been to. We just moved to Denton from Arlington, and in Arlington the price for oil and filter at Kwik Kar was always $ 25, so I knew something was off. I went up to the counter and asked the woman working there if I was receiving the service I had asked for and told her I just want oil and filter and nothing else with my oil change. She told me that the «basic» oil change started at $ 37.99 and that no matter if you get the basic or full-​service that they always check fluids and lines and everything so I didn’t have a choice. At this point I was angry because I knew that they were not giving me the right package and were over charging me. Then, the service technician told me to come with him so that he could talk to me about my car. Now, I know that these places try to get you to pay extra to fix things that aren’t actually necessary, but this guy took it to the extreme. He told me that my car had no coolant in it and that it had probably been overheating and that my engine would shutdown if I didn’t keep coolant in it. Well, I know this is bs because my car has never overheated and my husband checks it regularly for up keep, as does my stepdad who’s a mechanic. This technician also said my car had «excessive oil leaks, broken windshield wipers that needed to be replaced, and a transmission that needs servicing». All of this is absolutely ridiculous and I was appalled that these employees thought that I was naïve enough to buy into the lines that they were feeding me. And to top it all off, I had asked for a BASIC oil change and was ensured that that’s what I was getting, and then when I went to pay the lady said «ok, so we did a full-​service oil change.» FULL-​SERVICE, not the basic oil and filter I had requested. I will NEVER give this place my business again. If I could give a negative amount of stars I would.

These guys are great. Always friendly and offer very good advice without pressuring a sale. Highly recommend if you live in Denton.

DONE! I tried, went there for a basic oil change, they drained my oil and then told me the oil i use is not in stock… after trying to sell me trans service and new filters. Total bill $ 75.68. Stopped going to a kwik kar in keller Tx because they wanted to rotate my 7 day old NEW tires. This chain just lost 4 vehicles to service.

This place is nice and clean. Service is fast because I called them and the lady said I should go in an hour. I had a system light in my car which happens often with my car maker, just need to clear the light. I only waited 10 minutes, the mechanic came in and said they cleared the light and I’m good to go.

Always where I come to get my oil changed. I can say the techs here are straight shooters. Its a bit more expensive than some other places but with the speed and professionalism I experience here, I don’t mind it.

Came here recently to get my boyfriend’s oil changed. Our first impression was not great– the parking lot was so cramped and there wasn’t much direction in terms of where we should pull the car up.
Service was friendly, although a little slow… It took about 20 mins to get the oil changed which is a little long according to my boyfriend, but it was a Saturday and they were pretty busy, so no big deal.
I’m giving them 3 stars because nothing impressed me about this place and when we got in the car after, we noticed the mechanic had knocked over my boyfriend’s travel coffee mug and spilled coffee all over the center console. He left it tipped over and didn’t say anything to is about it– how could you not notice something like that?! It was a wipe-​able surface so we brushed it off, but it definitely left a bad impression, and we’re going to try a different place next time.

Save your money and use the 50% off coupon provided by Good Year AND Spencer’s Auto Shop (Inside College Guide magazine). Prior to coming, I had seen a coupon for Kwik Kar and when I mentioned it to the cashier, she said that I had to have the coupon in hand and that they didn’t accept competitors. That’s a shame. I ended up paying $ 43 for an oil change for a Dodge Van. Next time I’ll just take my business to Good Year for a cheaper price that doesn’t hurt your wallet.

I go to Kwik Kar for all of my oil changes. I’ve been going there for a couple of years now. I like they way the vacuum the floorboards and clean the windows.
The manager of the place, Jonathan, is very honest and has integrity. Once my car needed to have it’s transmission vent replaced and he explained the problem, the solution, and the time involved. It was fixed in 30 minutes and it was a very fair price. I recommend this place to friends who are looking for a reliable place to have their car serviced.
And I like the peppermints they have there too.

I have spent some quality time in the waiting room at this quick and friendly service station. Not because they take a long time to work on my car — quite the opposite — but because I brought my car here for almost everything Edgar, my 2000 Rodeo, needed fixed or tuned or changed.
The guys and girls working this establishment seem to be a well-​oiled machine (PUN!!) because they clearly have a system to maximize efficiency but still maintain quality workmanship. Plus, I took advantage of their frequent-​oil-​changer cards and got a couple of free oil changes out of it. Bonus!
They’re not that expensive, pump out your car quickly, and do a good job. Nothing but good things for me to say!
