History

Established in 2002.

Three Fox Vineyards is the essence of «La Dolce Vita». It is our love of caring for those who come to spend time with us. It is the passion of crafting hand-made wines in the old world tradition. We are a place to throw away your cares and enjoy life, family and friends. We are a peaceful 50 acre island set on rolling hills in the heart of Virginia’s hunt country. Our way of being takes your heart away to north-central Italy, to Tuscany or the Piemonte. In fact, we have Northern Virginia’s first plantings of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, the main red wine grapes of Tuscany and of the Piemonte.

We have beautiful, tranquil views from our Tasting Room and its surrounding outdoor areas and vineyard. Come enjoy our tented, al fresco terazza, our old world brick patio, vine-side grass bocce courts, flower gardens, rolling hills, and creek side picnic areas and hammocks in our meadow by Crooked Run. Bring you own picnic or purchase some of our light fare to enjoy with our wine.

Business Owner

Holli and John Todhunter are passionate about life, love, wine and Italy! After years of study, research and planning Three Fox Vineyards was given birth from this passion back in 2002. Today Three Fox Vineyards sits on 50 rolling acres, very reminiscent of Tuscany or the Piemonte, in the heart of Northern Virginia’s horse country and the Mosby Heritage Area.

Their love of Italian wine and food has taken the Todhunters on many trips to various parts of Italy to learn how wines are made in these different regions. The similar relaxed feel of Southern France has taken them there too. This Italian focus — with a bit of the south of France thrown in — led them to plant Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Pinot Grigio — all Italian varietals — as well as Viognier, the main white wine grape of the Rhone Valley. On estate they also grow Cabernet Franc and Merlot, both of which are grown in many parts of Italy and France. Chardonnay, Vidal, and Chambourcin are sourced from areas growers.
