Razor’s Edge Barber Shop

I’ve come here three times, each time giving Sukh the benefit of the doubt. Reading the reviews I was convinced he was a cool guy, however after my experience here along with hearing my friends’ own testimonies I won’t be coming back here anymore.
Every time I’ve come to Razor’s Edge he was always condescending and I felt as though he didn’t care about giving amazing customer service. Felt as though I was just there as business for him, and I didn’t feel welcomed. Also for the price of $ 20 I better get a satisfying haircut, but his fades and tapers weren’t as tight and clean as I had hoped.

Great price ~$ 20 and Sukh knows what he’s doing! Probably my favorite barber in all of Davis.

1 in Davis… Sukh is the man! Well kept shop with a putting green. Comfortable seating with a big screen tv. Easy access off if Richards.

I visited this location on a Tuesday morning due to the great reviews I saw on here. However, the service I received was completely unsatisfactory.
I arrived and only had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes before it was my turn. I came ready with an image on my phone of the haircut I wanted, a simple buzz cut with a fade. I showed the barber the image on my phone and asked him how much it would cost. His response was, «Dude, a haircut is a haircut.» I found that a bit rude because this was my first visit here and the list of prices on the wall varied quite a bit. The barber took a look at the very clear image and said, «I can’t see that, dude.» I realized at this point that the barber had no interest in making me feel comfortable and was only trying to make jokes about the questions I had. So, the barber threw the phone back into my hand and I mistakenly took a seat in the chair.
After the barber prepared me for my cut, he decided that he would use a 4 on top faded to a 2 on the sides and back. Another man waiting in the barber shop got this 4,2 style and the barber decided that the image I showed him resembled that style, although the finished product did not look like the image whatsoever. The haircut was very rushed and it seemed as though the barber had no interest in doing the cut I showed him.
Once the barber was «finished» with the cut he showed it to me and I saw how uneven the top of my head was. The barber only went over the head once and one side was much longer than the other. I didn’t speak up out of fear that my hair would be even more ruined if he tried to fix it. I also didn’t want to spend another second in that shop as it seemed like the barber was in a bad mood and was making a laughingstock out of me.
I have never felt more disrespected and uncomfortable in a barber shop in my life. I’m not sure how this location has accumulated such great reviews, but I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. If this place somehow managed to ruin my simple buzz cut, I can’t even imagine what the result of a difficult haircut would be. If you are someone who cares about what your hair looks like and enjoys being treated respectfully, then this is definitely not the place for you. There are many cheaper, more enjoyable barber shops in Davis.

I’ve never needed to write a review before, but if you don’t come here for your haircut then your missing out. The wait is worth every minute. It reminds me of a classic barber shop were you can hang out and just shoot the shit with others till it’s your time in the chair. Not only will you get the best damn haircut but also a barber who cares about what you want. And enjoys learning about his guests. Thank you Sukh.

I got my hair cut here a while back and am finally giving it a review as I am reminded of my bad experience whenever I go by. The owner cut my hair and was incredibly negative and unfriendly the entire time. The haircut was just okay, at best. I have not, and will never, go back.

Great haircuts, good price, nice atmosphere… What more do you want?
I’ve been to a few places in Davis but liked my haircuts here the most. I like to talk about sports and that’s always the topic of discussion because that is what’s on the TV in Razors Edge.

The thing I absolutely hate the most about any Barber shop experience is having to wait forever. When I get a haircut it’s because I need my hair cut because either A) I have something important to go to, or B) I’ve let it grow out too much to the point that I really need it cut. So, I really don’t ever have the time to just sit and wait for over an hour in a barber shop.
The first time I came here, no one was here and I immediately jumped into the chair and got my hair cut. Sukh did a fast job, but still one of quality. He didn’t screw around and I appreciate it. I just need my hair cut, I don’t need a dude going to town with a straight razor and clippers for an hour just for my hair to grow back in in three days.
A little on the pricier side than I’m used to, but i figure it is a small price to pay for not having to wait forever (The one time I passed by motown, there were 6 people waiting, and they offer a student deal.)

I came in yesterday to have Sukh fix a haircut that I got from another shop in town, and he did an awesome job. The wait time is minimal and the haircuts are extremely high quality. Beware of the other barber shops that offer student discounts and remember that you always get what you pay for. I would recommend this shop to anyone and I will definitely be back. Being new to Davis as a college student I decided to get a haircut being all trustworthy Of all the good reviews on here I thought it would be a great a place, but at the end it was a horrible experience on my part. First of all the haircut at first didn’t even last 5 minutes and it wasn’t even close to what I asked for. I asked for a low fade and it looked like he just gave me one number on the sides and back. Secondly after he was done I told him again what I wanted because he certainly didn’t didn’t know what a low fade was. He then gave me his attitude and his response was «you should’ve explain it to me more» Wait wtf it’s not my fault you can’t listen and don’t you think him being a Barber for how many years you should know what a LOW FADE is -.- Seriously anybody can go on google images and search up low fade it will show you how the haircut should look like. Finally when he was done it didn’t even look like a fade it was more like some fucked up taper and the sides were uneven and to finish it was $ 18. I mean being at that price you should expect it to look extra perfect and not some amateur Barber cut. Like bro I could get a way better/​fresher haircut back at my old barber in LA for $ 10 with a Line Up, it looks 100x better, and he knows what a LOW Fade actually is. While here my hair looks all fucked up. (FYI I know salon ladies who could cut hair way better than him) I wouldn’t recommend this place at all especially if you want a fade or a taper. If I were you I’ll save my money and go somewhere else. Never going here again! Lol
Btw In his comment he supposedly said he gave me a «low fade» in the beginning before I had to tell him again what I wanted it looked like one number on the sides and back like I said previously. Also for him a double zero is more like a 1 or 2 because my sides and back still had a good amount of hair after he was «done»

This review is purely for Daniel, one of the barbers that have been helping Sukh out. I am usually very particular with my haircuts, I get a bald taper with a line up on the front. Daniel is consistent every single time, and he takes his time no matter how many customers are waiting. The taper comes out amazing. You can tell Daniel has been cutting hair for a long time. This will be my barbershop of choice as long as I am at Davis.

I’ve been going to Razor’s Edge for years. Whether I need to look good for an interview, family picture, or first date, I know can get what I came for. Prices are fair, if not better than other barber’s, but at Razor’s Edge the quality and atmosphere is better than the compition’s.

Rudest customer service I have ever encountered from a barber shop, if you are going to give your potential customers both attitude and disrespect then don’t expect the business to keep coming in. I was going to give this place a try but the man was so nasty in his tone and obviously had no concern for how he treated his customers, I immediately left and went to the usual place I go for haircuts (Abba Salon– friendly service and a GREAT haircut).
DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT LIKE I TRIED.

Just went here for my first time after seeing all the positive reviews here on Unilocal.Sukh does a good job. I didn’t have to ask him to go over my hair again after the fade. He just blow dried it and then made sure no hairs were sticking up. Sukh is very chill enjoyed talking about current sporting events. I will be back.

Great Barber… most recommended in this little town of Davis… the owner is real good at what he is doing… really skilled barber… always come here for hair cuts… always will recommend it to friends and family.

Best place to get a hair cut. I have been coming to Sukh for years and I have never had a problem. There was an issue a few months ago with a college kid who simply walked into Sukh’s new shop with his bike. Never once asked did he ask if it would be OK to bring his bike in, and NO one yelled at him. Sukh asked him if he was going to ask for permission to bring his bike in. A normal action and a polite thing to do, but this kid obviously didn’t know any manners or any bike etiquette. The kid claimed that there wasn’t any bike racks, but if you have been to 2^nd St & G St, you would see there are plenty of them close by. He could of locked his bike anywhere outside. But he doesn’t, and just wrote a bad review. After my haircut, I seen him on his cell at the corner of 2^nd St & G St, typing away on his cell. Had he looked around, he would of seen the bike racks.
This is the place to go for your hair cuts, no doubt about it. Sukh will take good care of you.

Went in spur of the moment had to wait for a little while but wasn’t a big deal to us. Great atmosphere. I wish I had taken a picture of the back of his head since he has not one but two callicks and it looks very nice.

First of all, if you want a great haircut this is the place to go too. Sukh is a MASTER of his craft, he knows what he is doing and he does it very very well. He is a very respectable person and actually listens to you when you tell him how you want your haircut. This is a BARBERSHOP, not a salon. Showing respect can take you a long ways in this place and this man definitely deserves the respect. This place is like his second home and he has put a lot of money into his business to ensure comfort of his customers. Like i said before, this man knows what he is doing and I am way more than satisfied with my haircut, and I will continue to go back to Razor’s Edge BARBER SHOP for an outstanding haircut!

Probably the only legit barber left in Davis. I’ve only recently started coming to this guy, and I always walk out satisfied feeling good about the way I look. Sukh is a great barber. He’s fast, and he truly cares about how you look before you walk out his shop. He’s a super nice guy, and he’s always willing to stay late if people come right before he closes. The place is super clean, which is a big plus for me because it’s a sanitary and hygiene issue for me.
It would be great if he had another barber who can line up in the shop since there aren’t any barbers like that in Davis anymore, from my recollection. Other than that, love this place!
