The service here is impeccable! I come here because they are honest, reliable and dependable. Tung and his crew is honest and does not try and sway you into unnecessary fixings. Tung is direct and solves my auto problems quickly! I commute to work and is important that I have a reliable mechanic who can get to the sources quick without having to come back for adjustments like other places and prices are very reasonable.

I’ve been a customer here for 4+ years. I heard great things about them when I first moved to SF for college. I’ve been going here ever since my freshman year (I’m a graduate now ;)). My car is a little older and with regular check ups (oil change, new tires, breaks, etc) here, I have not had any major issues with my car. As a female who knows nothing about cars, an auto shop is kind of nervous experience. You never know whats really wrong with your car and if you’re getting over charged. I can say from multiple past experiences they have been truly honest with me and I’ve never once felt deceived. Tommy has made my experience at this auto shop amazing! He will squeeze me in last second and explains what’s really going on with my car. Thanks you for everything!

Nice guys, good service, but $ 95 for full synthetic oil change AND $ 30 for tire rotation!!! Seriously?! That’s more than the dealership. Too bad I needed the oil change ASAP and couldn’t get in anywhere else. Probably won’t be returning.

I called ahead to get an estimate for a side mirror repair and they told me $ 50-​$ 100, so i said why not. Most of the other auto repair shops near Mission Street are usually around that price. J&K Auto Repair is easy to miss when you drive down the street! It’s right next to the the outside parking lot entrance for Planet Fitness.
I get there and they tell me $ 50 for the labor to put in the new side mirror and probably 40 minutes. I waited there and they finished the repair in probably 15 minutes! Awesome! They were even super nice to clean off the duct tape residue (a result of my ghetto repair technique)! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ I’d go again. It’s not too out of the way and if you go in the morning like 9 or 10am, there shouldn’t really be any wait!

I purchased a well maintained 2001 MB E320 Wagon with failing rear self-​leveling struts. Tung, the Manager, suggested a conversion kit because I did not want to spend a ton of money to replace the self-​leveling struts. He quoted me a price and stuck to it even though it took longer to complete. That’s impressive! If you want your car fixed right and not get ripped off, bring it here. You won’t regret it.

These knowledgeable technicians fit me in on a busy Friday morning for a brake and lamp inspection. I appreciated their professionalism, efficiency, and friendly attitude. I highly recommend this shop.

I came on a Saturday around noon. I asked for an oil change and tire rotation. It was about 30 minute wait.
The owner? (I didn’t get the person’s name) greeted and went straight to business. Simple. I’m glad he communicated with his staff! This is very important.
I would come back again. Quick and simple.

Friendly and professional. Had a nail in my tire and they got me in and out in 30 minutes and gave me a discount b/​c they had originally mounted the tires (even though they had nothing to do with me running over a nail!).

This place was great! My boyfriend’s car engine light turned on while visiting sf. We Unilocaled for an auto repair on the way home and found that J&K had good reviews. We walked in and right away, Tung helped us and took the time to explain to us why the light was on, what was needed to be fixed and gave us his honest advice. We would definitely go back and recommend them to friends with car trouble.

I have been going to these guys for years now an every single time, these guys take good care of your care. Tung and Sam are great. Thanks for being an honest mechanic. Not too many left and honesty keeps and bring customers.

Went here yesterday to get my car repaired and was definitely happy with the service. I called 15 minutes prior to coming in and asked if they did wheel bearing replacements. Tung was very helpful and told me that I could come in that day and it would be done within a couple of hours. When I got to the shop, I was immediately greeted upon arrival. I really appreciate that Tung took his time to talk to me and listen to my concerns. I didn’t feel like he was rushing me or just trying to make money. At the end, I got my front brakes replaced, rear wheel bearing replaced, and a smog check in less than 3 hours. He also informed me of a loose bearing that wasn’t tightened from a previous mechanic, and tightened it for me. Also balancing out my wheels. All in all, I am definitely satisfied with the service. My car is running smoother than I remembered, thanks to Tung and his shop!

Wow found my new place for car maintenance! I recently brought my car up here from San Diego and was told by my dad to get the oil changed every three months plus other car maintenance things. I know nothing about cars and being the ditzy girl I am, I was long overdue for a oil change. Finally I hopped on Unilocal trying to find a good place. I was nervous because a bunch of them had really bad reviews until I stumbled upon J&K. I called in after reading their reviews and Tung told me I could bring my car in that very instance!
Because I had 2 hours to kill before class I was like why not? So I turned it and didn’t realize it was those typical small car garages so had a hard time getting in. It’s funny too because Toyota (my car dealership) is right across the street and couldn’t even help me with an oil change! So Tung had another mechanic move my car in and he got straight to work. I didn’t wait too long and he contacted me after to tell me that my battery was looking bad and could have even died while I was driving it. I was really surprised and asked if he could change it for me too. He priced me for the battery and even though it was expensive I know I had to get it changed.
But he came to me again and he said that he charged me less for the battery which made me really grateful. :) took about 35 minutes to change it and Tung was really nice to me while I waited. Thank you J&K!

Ladies, if you have a feeling something is wrong with your car and have no idea what it is because all you know how to do is drive a car and fill it up with gas and take it for an oil change every so often, you can feel relieved taking your car here!
Ask for Tung, one of the managers at this auto repair shop. He is cool, professional, honest, knowledgeable and most importantly, he wasn’t condescending when talking to people who don’t know shit about cars (me)! I knew something was wayyyy off when my car started to swerve to the left and I noticed my steering wheel tilt to the left. I thought it was a tire pressure problem until I Googled it and figured out the wheels were out of alignment. I’ll explain later how that happened. I go to my trusty Unilocal app on my phone to look for the best rated auto repair shop nearby because I really don’t want to go to my usual guy all the way in San Mateo. I found J&K, called and went in for an alignment for $ 75. Tung was so helpful, he printed out the alignment report and explained to me exactly what was wrong and gave me his professional opinion on what I should replace, what I can still hold off on and how much time I have left on the life of the part. He was so professional, educating me about the parts and how it works. My old mechanic never did that!!! I ended up having to replace the control arm, camber kit and strut, and my tires were so bald I had about a month left on them. Tung recommended to replace the control arm and camber kit and my tires, and that I could wait to replace the strut. Look at me, talking car parts and all! All thanks to the education from Tung! He provided exceptional service and my car drives soooooo much better now. I feel so much safer. I hereby name Tung, my new go to mechanic! He makes you feel like there are no such thing as stupid questions.
Now here is how my wheels suddenly went out of alignment. I let my boyfriend use my car to drive to work one day because his car needed a ton of maintenance which he is lagging on addressing. Somehow, he almost misses an exit and drove up a freeway divider/​curb and scratches and bangs up the rims. I’m sure the impact was bad since my new awesome mechanic told me it was really bad. He took pictures and showed me the terribly bent metal on the control arm. Anyways, whats worst was that my lovely boyfriend conveniently «forgets» to tell me about this mishap until I drove my car on the freeway and it was swerving to the left. I am going to take matters into my own hands and take my boyfriend’s car in next week and have J&K Auto Repair fix all the problems so my boyfriend can never drive my car again!
By the way, Tung specializes in old cars with high mileage. I plan on running my 2002 Toyota Rav4 with 92K miles on it to the ground (and use it as a back up beater car when I get my new car), so I’m glad he specializes in old cars!

Me and my girlfriend happened upon J&K Auto Repair while coming down on a road trip from Oregon to San Diego, and had the unfortunate turn of having the clutch in my car go out. Jung, the owner of the shop, was able to take in the car immediately and worked around the urgency of getting us home in a timely matter. He ended up replacing the clutch on the car and the break pads, staying late on a Saturday in order to get it done before the day was out. He was more than accommodating in his time frame, had reasonable pricing, and was very amiable. I would recommend him to anyone in the area, and only wish that I had a mechanic this good near my house.

I got the shorter end of the stick with this installer again. Years ago I went here for an alignment for my honda and they couldnt do it without an explanation. I went to the muffler shop down the street and there were able to resolve it due to a part in the suspension.
That brings me to the current day. I brought my European SUV to get the tires installed in this shop since the reviews appeared good, it was close by and I wanted to try them out again. They mounted the tires on the rims within 3 hours along with an alignment. Everything seemed fine and dandy but when I took the vehicle home I noticed that there was scratches galore around the edge of the rims along with marks left to remove the wheel weights etc.
You can tell the installer used a pick or screw driver to remove it since it left an indent scratch in the outside rims. I would say there was more than 20+ scratches on my wheels. Some can be polished out and others are permanent.
Honestly I was rather irate at first speaking to the owner but eventually I figured brought it in since he stated he can take «everything out,» I gave him 30+ minutes and he polished a few things which seemed ok. Regardless of the outcome the marks/​scratches are still there and I have to deal with it. I didn’t want to argue so much since it seems it was a lost cause and I didn’t want to spend my time at that shop anymore. The owner may say its so minor but to me it shouldn’t have happened. I have been to costco, wheelworks, ASP etc and I never seen them screw up rims that bad.
He stated the cause of the issue was their tire machine was dirty or had some plastic. I would think a high tire volume shop like that would maintain their machine. Anyhow the owner said that’s all he can do and he would comp me with an oil change etc. Seriously? Anyhow I would of expected more such as lets repair your wheels and Ill pay for it to make things right. The owner is a nice guy but mistakes happen and he just has to own up to it and pay the price.
Overall they probably do good work with others based on the reviews but I wouldn’t go there anymore. If you care about your rims then don’t go here since chances are they might scratch it up. If you don’t care then they do the job as advertised.
This is an honest review and no fabrication of the story.

Update to the shop’s comments. I hope they do know that they’re GUILTY of violating my privacy with sensitive information when the invoice image uploaded states my license plates. They will say anything to defend themselves. To think that they went as far as uploading an invoice that can so easily be modified to gain the public’s trust! Really!!! How unprofessional! I can stoop lower and ask the shop that fixed the problems J&K caused to make comments on their findings as well but it’d be a waste of my time. If they invested the time to contact me to resolve the issues, rather than trying to make me (a customer) look like a fool, there could have been a more positive resolution. INSTEAD I’m left with no choice but to add more negativity towards them. For the record! I never made an an appointment or committed to having them install new tires. Commented below… (They didn’t even properly whine back the cable that secured the spare tire under the truck bed, that it was dragging on the pavement while I was driving down the road.) Why would I take my truck back for tires? You guys are so honest? Explain why I was charged for TIRE DISPOSAL WHEN I TOOK ALL THE TIRES? If you don’t trust my review, then give them a try and find out for yourselves. They are the perfect example of a bad mechanic shop!
My first experience at the shop was okay due to the fact that I was present the entire time they were working on my car. I brought in my Mercedes for them to install some new TPMS that I purchased elsewhere, so they did the work and I thought I was happy till almost a month later when I noticed one of my front tires was low on air, then the following week the other front tire was low on air as well. Not sure if I can fully blame them but being a mechanic in the past, I’d have to say it’s more likely an installer error.
Now to the best part! NOT! I brought in my Tundra along with some replacement tires and new TPMS seals I purchased again elsewhere about two weeks after my initial visit, which was before I notice the problems on my Mercedes. So I was quoted $ 30 a tire to replace, which was understandable… Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it a normal procedure to inspect the tires prior installing them? I always did when I was in the business! There’s absolutely no excuse when the damage spots were very noticeable! Well they failed to do so and installed the bad tires regardless. To make matter worst, they slapped me with a nearly $ 300 bill when they had to install back my original tires and a spare because 1 of the tires had side wall damage. They didn’t even properly whine back the cable that secured the spare tire under the truck bed, that it was dragging on the pavement while I was driving down the road. I was expecting my bill to be around $ 210, their explanation was due to the amount of work and the TPMS sensors seals they had to install, that’s why the price is much higher. Don’t you think it would’ve been nice to tell me 1^st!!! Talk about getting screwed!
Here’s the worst part of it all! I finally purchase a brand new set of wheels and tires. So I took it to another shop because I’ve lost trust in J&K. They were attempting to transfer the TPMS sensors from my old wheels to the new ones, as they were pushing down my tires to remove the sensors, they noticed the part of the sensors on 2 wheels were missing, which they soon discovered was broken but was still inside the rim and tire chamber. I only paid $ 80 for the tire work (which I may, was more than reasonable then J&K) but had to pay an additional $ 140 for the new OEM sensors J&K broke and another $ 150 to have them programmed at Toyota a day later. It took a lot for me to get this upset and vent this out on Unilocal but it’s only fair that the public knows and learns from my experience at J&K.

I cannot speak to the prices of this place. I think they are on par with other auto repair shops.
What I really love about J+K is that they treat customers with a great deal of care and respect. I had to get a complex brake job done, which was costly and time consuming. However, they explained to me exactly why it was difficult repair, took the time to show me the rotors and the parts that needed replacing, and talked about the steps they would take to get it back into perfect shape. Rather than treating me like a fool, they assumed I would understand and appreciate the steps they had to take to rehabilitate the braking system and I concurred.
They didn’t try to upsell me on anything, just a really good explanation of the diagnosis. Thank you J+K for treating customers with respect.
