The Marquis of State Thomas

For the price, move on to somewhere else in the State Thomas neighborhood. Moved in about a month ago and have been very disappointed with the apartment we were put in. To start, when we moved in, it was like the apartment hadn’t been cleaned. Paint chips all over the wood floor and just simply unclean.
The cabinets in the kitchen are cheaply made and seemingly half of ours won’t even shut completely. Our refrigerator is a nice GE stainless steel design, but it is dented from where it hits the wall, thus practically ruling out the fact that it’s a pretty appliance.
The floors are by far my biggest disappointment with the apartment. The floors shown in the model were fantastic and looked great. Ours have paint and literal chips in the wood all over the apartment that make it seem like it needs to be swept constantly.
In the closet, we didn’t have anything absurd weight-​wise on the shelf but came home one day to find it completely pulled out of the wall with all of our stuff on the ground.
We’ve already had to have a water stain repainted and repaired in both the living and bedroom ceilings.
Lastly, no idea what is SMEARED on the wall on our patio, but we were told it couldn’t be fixed… But hey, they are repainting balconies in the next year or so, so apparently we are supposed to just deal with it until that happens.
Quite simply: If we could go back and choose the other location that it came down to, we would do it in a heartbeat. We paid more for this place than we would in the other and hoped that there would be some quality coming with the price. Unfortunately for us, the price is only this way because of the location.
Note: The staff here is nice and been accommodating, but I put much more stock in my living condition than I do with the customer service.

This is a cool place to call home if you’re a young professional looking to live in the heart of Uptown… walking distance to a ton of bars and restaurants… walking distance to a Gold’s Gym… and waking distance to the Whole Foods that just opened on McKinney.
The apartments are nice, the guys in the office are amazing, and it’s extremely pet friendly.

My boyfriend and I lived here for two years before we moved to Chicago. I can’t say enough great things about the property and the staff. First, the community itself is in an awesome location– close to everything in Uptown but tucked away in the State Thomas neighborhood so you still have that residential feel as well. The units have hardwood floors, granite countertops, and stainless appliances. The amenities are nice as well.
The thing that really sets this property apart though is the staff. Justin, Haley, and Mandy are all amazing and truly care about the residents here. They all have such positive attitudes and take pride in their work. They really became more than just our front office staff and were like friends. I’m going to miss seeing them everyday!
Would definitely recommend this community for anyone looking for an apartment in Dallas!

I have lived at the Marquis of State Thomas for several months now and it has been a really joyful and positive experience from the moment I walked in. I was very reluctant to leave my previous apartment in State Thomas, but it was such a good decision. I truly cannot overstate how helpful and friendly the staff is here, notably the property manager, Justin. He truly went above and beyond to make my apartment search, move, and even the apartment itself as positive as it could be, going so far as to update the flooring in my unit before I moved in. I would move here just to work with him over other property managers. I will undoubtedly resign my lease because of the great staff, location, and amenities.
As far as amenities, you cannot get better than this for the price in Uptown. They host several socials each month from brunches, to champagne bars, to painting parties which are free for the residents. The parking garage could use a few more spaces, but I have always been able to park in the garage, which is very clean and spacious compared to others I have had in Uptown prior to this. I have submitted several maintance requests and they have all been addresses extremely quickly despite not being emergenies. The views from the pool of downtown are amazing, the residents are all friendly and I’ve not had one single experience with noise. I love that they offer free coffee and a free tanning bed, a decent gym, and an incredibly close walk to everything.
The location could not be better; this is in State Thomas but still so close to downtown. I WALK TO WORK downtown. I am able to walk to Klyde Warren for free classes, the grocery store, and all the bars in uptown are within a very easy walking distance as well. if you are looking for a place in Uptown and dont want to pay an exorbitant price, you should seriously consider living here. I could not be happier with my experience here.

I’ve been nothing but impressed with the Marquis of State Thomas. The facilities are wonderful, the apartments are clean and safe, the staff is friendly and attentive. Best of all, they are pet friendly! My dog LOVEs the personalized dog park in the gated area and the neighborhood is great for walks. Like anyone, I have high standards for where one chooses to live, I can’t think of a better place for me at this time.

I lived here for over a year and I loved it! The apartments are nice, the buildings are always clean and, and the location couldn’t be better. The Asst. Manager Shawn is the nicest guy ever and knows every resident and even their dog’s name. Their maintenance staff is also fantastic — every service request I put in was taken care of within the day.
The underground parking garage situation has gotten much better. I often had a hard time finding a spot but the office starting cracking down and that made a difference. It can be difficult to find a spot in the evening if you drive a truck or SUV because every third parking spot has a concrete beam in it. It wouldn’t be a big deal except that we’re in Texas and a lot of people have trucks.
Other than that — no complaints from me.

Great staff (kudos to Jen, Shawn, Erica, George, Victor and Ms. Allie), great location in Uptown, plus a great view of the downtown skyline if you have the right apartment. The apartment amenities were very nice (stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, tile bathrooms) and the common amenities were a great bonus as well (pool, grill, parking, conference room, parting room, complimentary coffee, pet friendly, workout facility, recycling). The traffic can get a little noisy if you face the Maple Routh side. The pool can get a little wild at times as well. Residents get free reign over stereo system that feeds into the pool area. The cast of the Jersey Shore shows up on weekends from time to time.

Gorgeous Apartments. Staff is top notch, and all the amenities are perfect. Tanning bed, gym, awesome clubhouse, pool is beautiful with grills, and the parking garage is never full. LOVE IT
