Post Worthington

Post properties are a bunch of money hungry crooks. They don’t care about you… they only care about profit. I am so much happier in a Marquis property. They charged me $ 1000 in pet deposits for my 2 cats and then tried to charge me an additional $ 600 to replace carpeting when only one room in the 3 room apartment had damage to the carpeting. They refuse to be reasonable about this and have turned me over to a debt collector and will be proceeding to try and ruin my credit. I refuse to give in and pay them this money that they don’t deserve.

Dirty, broken elevators, poorly run, loud and full of 25 – 30 year old idiots. Post properties tend to be slightly cheaper than the other options but the small difference isn’t worth living at the Worthington.

My brother could relocate to Frisco, so he was off apartment hunting. I was his adviser. Don’t know why since he typically ignores me. This place is right on McKinney, smack in the middle of all the action. Location wise, you really cannot get any better than this. We got there too late to get an actual tour of the apartments. Bummer. I really wanted to check the inside too.

Unless you are in college or fresh out of college, I would not recommend living here. The apartments themselves are nice updated and the walkability is great. However, being right off McKinney makes it very loud on the weekends. As mentioned in other reviews, the elevators are always broken and they don’t put signs up either to notify you so you can walk to the other elevators. The pool is always crowded & loud on the weekends and extremely dirty by the time Sunday rolls around. There is constantly beer bottles and leftover food all over the complex (entry way, elevators, pool, hallways), and the final straw for me were the human shit in the hallway outside my door and a used condom in the elevator. The best way to describe this complex is that it is a frat house.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. Reality is not as advertised. Elevators are always broken. The place gets trashed every weekend and there’s always an interesting substance on the floor. Residents are too lazy to take their trash to the chutes and leave it in hallways. Management is very unkind. Parking situation is awful if you get home late and the spots are small. If you are 21 and like to party and your parents are paying for you, then this is a good fit for you. If you value your money, you can find a better value elsewhere. The Greenz restaurant that was supposed to be open has been closed for over a year. They keep raising the rents and I won’t be suckered into another year of this embarrassment.

I have lived at Worthington for over 3 years. If it had been THAT bad, I obviously wouldn’t have renewed my lease as many times as I did. Its pros outweighed its cons, but some of the cons were pretty bad.
I’ll start with the pros. You can’t beat the location. It’s in the heart of uptown, and you can find all of your weekend’s entertainment without moving your car. The pool is lively in the summer, and the halfcourt bball court is a nice plus. The insulation within the apartment itself is good enough that I never heard my neighbors (outdoor sound is a different story, see below). The weight room has a nice selection of exercise options with dumbbells up to 75lbs, three treadmills, three ellipticals, a bike, and about 10 machines (more on weight room below). Maintenance was extremely fast, and usually responded to my requests within a day. The three grills were regularly stocked with propane, and poolside/​rooftop grilling was great. There is a convenience store within the complex and a 7eleven across the street, which are big pluses.
Now, for the cons. The noise factor from outside is pretty bad on Thursday-​Saturday nights. I did not want to live on the MAT side, because I heard many complaints from the sound over there. I thought a unit facing towards Worthington St. would be better. I was wrong. The sound of Trophy Room and the Den’s top floor was very audible to the point where I could hear every word of the songs being played. As I said before, the weight room is good… when equipment is functional. For example, one of the treadmills has been down since January (this is being written in May). Management has been notified several times by multiple means, has claimed that they are working on it… but 4 months later, it is still not working. Maintenance requests are great, but the management team itself is not the friendliest. Don’t expect to get any «extras» for resigning a lease, outside of a free carpet cleaning (would not cater to a full cleaning or wood floor installation to match the more updated units, even after we had signed three separate renewals). Visitor parking is essentially non-​existent with 8 – 10 spots «available» that are usually full. The garage parking is pretty awful with tiny spaces and concrete pillars protruding into many of them. I have had to park on the street about five times in the 3+ years I’ve lived there, because the garage is too full/​people are parked poorly.
If I had to do it all over again, I would still live at Worthington. It was a nice transition after college, and I would best describe the complex as a Yuppie dorm that very much looks like one in the public areas after Friday and Saturday nights. Just make sure that is what you want it to be prior to signing.

I lived in the Post Worthington last year, and I’m a fan. As mentioned in other reviews, a lot of peope love or hate the place. Those who love it enjoy being in the heart of uptown within walking distance to all of the bars. Those who hate it often complain about the noise and parking.
The units: the complex is not that old and is continuously rennovated to keep it up to date. The units have granite countertops, dark cherry wood cabinets, and black appliances. The building is updating most of the units to hardwood floors, but there are still plenty with carpets (cheaper).
SPOILER ALERT: Yes, this place can get loud on the weekends. I never had a problem with anything ridiculous (4 am or weeknights), but yes, young professionals who live here like to live a little on the weekends. Hopefully, you are aware of this before you move in. You are after all going to be living in uptown.
Location: The highlight of the complex. Right on the middle of McKinney within walking distance to everything. You have the MAT/​Standard Pour to the north; Trophy Room, The Den, Idle Rich to the south; and Tates, LA Gourmet, and Chipotle across the street. Nothing is better than a slice from LA Gourmet after a night out, and being able to walk home with a pizza… but I digress.
If you can, get an aparment facing the north or east side of the building. If you’re facing the pool, everything echoes, so it can get a little loud during the day in the summer. If you’re facing outward toward the MAT or the Trophy Room, you’re going to have some noise on the weekends, but it’s not too bad. A noise machine can block most of it out.
Parking: The parking does suck, but it IS doable. It’s underground, so if you get home late, you might have to drive to the bottom floor to get a good spot. I never had an issue with actually finding a spot though, because they will tow intruders. A transmitter is needed to get BOTH in and out of the garage. Visitor parking is very limited, so most of your guest will need to find street parking. The parking spots can be on the small side, but reserved parking is available.
Management: The management was always very responsive and courteous to questions/​maitenance requests.
Common areas: There is a convenience store which is nice if you don’t feel like getting in your car to get eggs, milk, beer, etc. A 7 – 11 just opened across the street though, so it may close soon. The gym is nice and there is a laundry center if you don’t have a washer dryer. Next to the laundry area is a half-​court basketball court. The actual pool itself is not very large, but the courtyard area is. There are bbq pits, a gazebo with fireplace, and plenty of chairs to tan/​chill during the summer.
Really the only complaint I had was the smell after they cleaned the carpets in the hallway. Every so often, once you got to your floor, you would see industrial fans blowing away after the carpets have can be cleaned. The only thing I can say about this is it smells like Post Worthington. Residents will understand this. It’s not repulsive, just musty.
Overall, to anyone looking to have a good time in uptown, this is a great place to live.

There are a lot of things I love about this complex, which is why I’ve lived here 2 years. Of course there are a lot of downsides that come with living in the middle of uptown.
Pros:
Great location– restaurants, bars, Starbucks, 711, etc.
Nice updated interiors inside the apartments
Cool pool/​BBQ area
Underground parking garage
Secured entry and airconditioned hallways
Can’t hear neighbors
Cons:
Parking places are REALLY small
Sometimes the elevators can be slow
Hallways in the building are old
On weekends you can hear music from bars

From the outside this place looks great but, after living here for 2 years, I can tell you that it is anything but. The pool is like a Las Vegas club scene with people yelling in the courtyard well past 4am Thursday-​Sunday. Good luck finding a grill that actually works if you want to have friends over for dinner. Major holiday weekend? Just leave and get out of town. The noise and sheer volume of visitors is enough to drive you crazy.
The parking is a disaster. Incredibly tight spaces and people whip around the corner. I’ve seen multiple wrecks in the garage. There is no visitor parking so good luck having friends over. The worst part about parking though? The elevators. For «security purposes» management has locked the staircase. This means that when the elevators break (and I can honestly say that this happens at minimum 3 times/​week) you have no way to get to your apartment. Why they can’t simply allow fob access to the staircase is beyond me.
I am a recent college graduate and even I think this place is out of hand. I will echo what someone else said — this is an overpriced frat house. They will try to price gouge you when you renew your lease and they charge significantly more to existing residents than to new residents. New apartments will be fitted with wood floors while existing residents suffer through old carpet. There is no storage and the kitchen appliances break regularly.
The staff is miserable and they make that clear if you have any concerns or need assistance. They will show your apartment without notice so be aware!!! When we found this out I asked them how they intended to secure my valuables and personal information and they looked at me like they had never considered the idea. My sister lives in a Post building as well and has a dog and they didn’t understand why allowing prospective residents into her house without notice would be an issue. I don’t know who determines policy for these apartments but it needs some serious revision.
The one redeeming quality to this building is that the maintenance staff is attentive and friendly. The management, however, leaves much to be desired.

I feel like this complex is very polarizing, since everyone that I’ve met seems to either hate it or love it. In my opinion, it really depends on what you’re looking for and what your priorities are. I can’t say anything for other people, but in my experience it has been primarily positive. Main points and comments:
— Location: definitely top 5 apartment locations in uptown. It’s right in the center of uptown, and on the main street, walking distance to everything.
— Rent: Can be expensive, but given location it should be no surprise. To minimize cost, pick something with less square footage.
— Amenities: Pool isn’t as big as it could be, but there are a lot of chairs and a gazebo type thing with a fireplace too (Crazy busy during summer). Business center with free coffee anytime. Club room with cable TV and a kitchen. Little shop downstairs. Basketball court and laundry room in 5^th floor. Rooftop public patio. Gym with a good variety of equipment (no barbells, yes dumbbells).
— Parking: Underground. Spots tend to be small and hard to find. However, there is always a spot somewhere, since they WILL tow if someone parks that isn’t supposed to be there. Alternatively, pay for a spot and never worry about it (50/​month).
— Elevators: There are two sets of two elevators (4 total) and ½ elevators of the set has failed many times, but it is incredibly rare for both to fail at the same time (only once, in my experience).
— Noise: Primarily from the inner pool area, trophy room (bar), and neighbors passing by or throwing parties nearby. Solution: avoid facing inwards towards the pool and avoid facing outwards towards trophy room. And if you can, get an apartment in the corner so people passing by your apartment and noise from possible neighboring parties is minimized. Walls are thick and windows are well sealed and insulated, so it’s never been an issue for me.
— Utilities: Pretty low overall, hasn’t been over $ 100 once. I like to save energy, and September to right now (April) it’s been about $ 40 for both water and electricity. Summer last year was about twice that for me ($ 80ish) but I live on the top floor so I get a lot of added heat. Either way, apartments are largely pretty well insulated.
— Maintenance: The staff is very responsive to maintenance concerns, but they do largely only do so reactively and not proactively. Solution: when you move in be INCREDIBLY thorough and make sure the initial move in sheet is completely filled with all possible issues so they take care of it while you’re still moving in.
For me, the only con to this place is the price, and to be honest, I pay far less than all my friends that live in the same building and/​or area. The noise hasn’t bothered me and I love the location, the covered parking, and view.

Ok, the shop is back and is now owned by a really sweet guy who speaks English and will actually chat with you. Prices are reasonable and it’s really convenient now that it’s back. And he actually keeps the place open with good hours! He’s currently getting his alcohol license so we can start buying the good stuff, but for now it’s got the other stuff you need.
That said, the apartment is still absolute crap. And now that we’re moving out they are charging us a TOOONNNNNN of money plus letting strangers enter our apartment at any time to show it. No call, no notice, NOT EVEN A KNOCK. They just start coming in. Let’s just say I freaked out the first time it happened and was fully prepared to protect myself as I was home alone and my apartment wasn’t even on the damn market yet. Given all the crime in the area, you never know what to expect when A STRANGER STARTS TRYING TO ENTER YOUR APARTMENT. NO other property allows this to happen.
This will always be a horrible apartment and it gets worse every year. I feel sorry for the people who get sucked in. At least it’s easy for people to sneak into the pool at all hours so you know there’s always a pool uptown to use. Not a good thing for residents, though.

I lived here (in a 2 bedroom w/​a roommate) for a little under 2 years from 2010 – 2012. Honestly, for the price it is not your worst option in Uptown, and the location is awesome. But be prepared to be living in what is basically a post-​colled co-​ed frat house. The walls are pretty thick and we rarely heard our neighbors, but the hall and pool noise more than makes up for it. Think 100 – 200 obnoxious drunk college students right outside your door any time the weather is above 80 degrees (which in Texas, is basically nine months of the year). The courtyard style design of the building carries sound to all pool-​facing units to the point where we could hear individual conversations from the pool area in my 3^rd floor living room.
Pros? You can walk to pretty much anywhere in uptown or even downtown, and the McKinney avenue trolley stops right outside your front door. There is an underground parking garage – but if you have anything other than a compact car be prepared to circle looking for a spot on weekends or past 9pm on weekdays. Also, the amount of door dings my car has now is ridiculous, and I had several near-​death experiences with people whipping around the corners in the garage.
I never had any issues with the leasing office – they were always very pleasant and helpful, and maintenance requests were always fixed with 24 hours.
Eh. pick your poison…

My husband and I have lived here about 6 months and this apartment definitely has it’s pros and cons.
Pros:
— Location
— Convenience store on the first floor, perfect for those last minute groceries even though it’s a little overpriced
— No internal noise, I’ve only heard our neighbors upstairs once when they apparently dropped something BIG.
— Staff is very responsive, when I put in a request the maintenance staff will come to my rescue within 24 hours, if not sooner.
— Nice upgrades, if I have to pay this much for rent then it’s nice to have tile floors and granite counter tops with nice appliances
— Low electricity and water cost, there’s not much outside exposure so our electricity costs have been very reasonable. During the summer we didn’t pay much over $ 100/​mth.
— Nice sized bathrooms for an apartment, love the bathtubs.
— Nice gym
Cons:
— Price, it’s definitely not cheap but if you live in Uptown then what do you expect?
— Outside noise, we live on the Allen St side and there’s quite a bit of noise when the bars close at 2 am. I’m a heavy sleeper though so it doesn’t bother me much.
— Parking, if you want to have friends over it is quite a pain because the visitor parking is almost always full on the weekend. It would be nice if management would give us 1 parking pass for friends to use. Parking for residents isn’t great either, a lot of the spaces are much too small for even a compact car.
— Party Central in the Summer, luckily I don’t have an apartment that faces the pool because it turns into MTV spring break down there. It can get quite loud on Saturdays. If I want to go out by the pool I usually wait until Sunday morning when all the drunk college kids are sleeping off the booze.
— It was a tight squeeze to get my front end loader washer/​drier into the laundry area. Had to take the doors off.
For me, the pros outweigh the cons. We plan to stay here at least another year until we’re ready to buy something. I would recommend these apartments but really it’s going to be based on what you value most in the place you live. I hope my experience helps!

Great location but the apartments are small, generic and way too overpriced. The staff is a joke and you better hope nothing goes wrong in your apartment because theyre clueless. It is definitely a party apartment and the pool is packed out with college kids on any given day of the week

I must change my original 4-​Star Rating and drop it as many notches as I can. The management of this property is completely out of touch with their residents’ complaints and approach all issues reactively. Just like the first review said everything was good at first and then there were issues. I did not remember how good an apartment experience can be until I moved somewhere else where the staff treats you as if they want you to renew your lease.

Seemed great at first, but realities set in …
It was worth it when the flights from Love Field didn’t start flying over this area starting 7am. Then, $ 1500/​mo for a 1br/​ba might have been worth it.
That was BEFORE discovering the seriously sucky parking situation at Worthington. If you have anything larger than a Prius, prepare to rove for parking three floors deep and even then your car will be full of scrapes and dents because there’s no feasible way for douchebaggio to park his pimped out Chezcalade in the compact parking slot next to you.
Needless to say, the building’s Internet providers suck and whatever you do, just avoid Ygnition Networks. 20 calls over the course of a year and they still can’t get a lazy ass tech out to diagnose fundamental problems with their network. And Post doesn’t listen. They just toss the ball back and forth, leaving it up to the customer to suffer.
Don’t waste your time here. For half the money you could get away from the D-​bag Uptown SMU /​TCU crowd and probably even own a place for not much more cash.
LA and San Fran level of rent in Dallas, no thanks.
